Ran into a small problem, I am trying to do it on a Sprint Asurion(insurance) EVO 4G replacement phone, and it is not detecting my device. Whats your advice bro? Everything worked like a charm until "adb devices" it shows that no devices are attached. What can i do then? After I execute Revolutionary it just says waiting for device. I left at at charge only and USB debug.
I also have the HBOOT 2.18.0001 not supported issue. I'm guessing the 'security' issue they were woriied about was this wonderfully easy rooting method. lol! I subscribed to your channel in hopes of an update to come that might address this issue. Thanks.

There's a slight problem, my phone just updated to 2.3.5 android and I'm wondering if that's why I get this issue. I don't have the HBOOT 2.16.0001 anymore and I have HBOOT 2.18.0001. I found this out after starting revolutionary.exe in the cmd. Does anyone or do you know if Revolutionary is going to fix this at some point? ok so i did the revolutionary.exe and it found my device but then it says "kingdom, with HBOOT 1.26.0000 is not supported at this time" and i downloaded all the files that you said to download. did i miss something or is the HBOOT file old? i also have the HTC EVO 4G Design....could that be the problem too?

For everybody getting the revolutionary root screen and not the HTC screen here is what you need to do. You need to go online and download the PC36.IMG file and put it on your phones root drive. Turn off your phone and bring up the bootloader screen, it will ask if you want to update, say yes and then say no to resarting your phone. Finally follow the rest of the video and you will be fine. I recommend using Cyanogen Mod 7.1 with the TiamatV.4.1 kernel, its a good and fast combo.

@romelarjonav Do any words appear on that screen? if not, just reboot your phone by taking off battery. when you turn it on you will see them. same thing happened to me
@bigjpayne I wouldn't reccomend it, just incase it messes with the baseband, if you do root it before you activate it, do NOT change the ROM, that will mess it up.

I got it to work! I didn't lose any data. You need to remove HTC Sense from your PC first in order to get past the Zerging Root Message that you get after you type Revolutionary at the command prompt.

yo,it's not working i feel it should be as easy as downloading the files, connect your phone to usb,right click,send to what's hooked into usb,which is the phone,and bam. this shit is so complicated,not easy,like they make it look.plus y'all don't give direct detail when instructing,i see pieces missing in the instructions,i don't see anything on the computer showing the phone being hooked to the computer,nothing...plus why can't you just do all this straight from the phone without a pc?
@x1tuffxgong1x I ran into the same thing. If you dont have an Unzipping program please download "WINRAR" to unzip.
Once you download that you can then EXTRACT the rootevo4ggingerbread folder into your root C: drive on your computer. Once you do that and pop up your Command window, the commands you type in will be recognized

I did everything but I cannot copy the driver to the phone, I have the boot loader/recovery. I didn't get the HTC screen, I got a Revolutionary screen that did not give me the option to USB-MS toggle. I did get the S-Off. Is there anything I'm missing? I did not see the Superuser Icon.
sweet vid, I got stuck at revolutionary.exe when my phone would not do anything after entering beta key, it would just sit and do nothing. The fix for is to disable antivirus and to restart phone!
another thing that I did to get a serial number under the cmd method is to NOT use the stock USB cable. I downloaded serveral versions of the drives and nothing helped, and once I used a different USB cable, I finally got it to work.

@AnGeLoLosAngeles Erase everything yes except SD card, but u could save everything use titanium backup app to back up all ur apps but only restore the apps u downloaded from the market not the stock rom apps cause then ur phone will start acting funny. To save ur text messages there's an app for that too, ur contacts just export them onto ur SD card, this should all be done before flashing a new rom.
@AnGeLoLosAngeles Now when u are on the new rom just redownload the titanium backup restore the apps then as for contacts just import from the SD card

TO EVERYONE NOT GETTING A SERIAL NUMBER: Before you start, turn your phone off and take the battery out. Under where the battery should be, your serial number can be found there. It would be the same exact serial number that the command prompt would give you.
Im not sure if I'm the only one who is having the same problem, but when I try to install su-2.3.63-efgh-signed.zip I get an error status saying: E:Error in /sdcard/su-2.6.... (status 0) installation aborted/ any one else get that and found a way to get around it?
Im new to this but my evo 4g has supersonic evt2-2, I'm assuming that I could upgrade with no problem? also it is flashed for metropcs, would upgrading to supersonic 2.3 erase the flash?

Awesome video. I am running into a few issues though.
My phone switches to S-OFF after running revolutinary (but I never see the last line about lemons everything else says sucess)
I then select Bootloader but when it goes to the screen where I am supposed to select Recovery it will not allow me to scroll down.

Got the SN, Got the Key. Evo 4g 2.3.3 connected via USB charge only. Install the new Driver (which updates the prior one).
Once I reach the step to run revolutionary.exe it gives me waiting for device and stops there.
Any Ideas what I am doing wrong.

@DBR00 I had the same issue in this is what I did to find out the HBOOT version.
1. Power down your phone (take battery out i found was best)
2. Hold down the VOLUME DOWN and POWER BUTTON simultaneously.
3. Keep them pressed and. This will take you to the HBOOT SCREEN.
4. It will tell you what HBOOT it is you have.

Just finished SO FREAKING SCARY lol but success! for the people getting the blue and purple screen do to mounts and storange and the last one should say mount SD card. that should do it!

Mount the SD card and then it should connect to computer then you can copy and paste the file on the SD card
After that just reboot :)

@ROGRAMMYFAMILY look for an option...I forgot under what option it is, but just go in and out into different options until you find mount sd
then in a few seconds it will detect and then go on and reboot

I did everything but I cannot copy the driver to the phone, I have the boot loader/recovery. I didn't get the HTC screen, I got a Revolutionary screen that did not give me the option to USB-MS toggle. I did get the S-Off. Is there anything I'm missing? I did not see the Superuser Icon.

sweet vid, I got stuck at revolutionary.exe when my phone would not do anything after entering beta key, it would just sit and do nothing. The fix for is to disable antivirus and to restart phone!

another thing that I did to get a serial number under the cmd method is to NOT use the stock USB cable. I downloaded serveral versions of the drives and nothing helped, and once I used a different USB cable, I finally got it to work.

I already rooted everything came out nice. But when i try to installs a Rom from Cyanogen Mod at the point that gets to the blue android thing with the turning arrow it will just keep staying there repeating the screen this is the second time this is happening to me. And when i try to install the ROM by putting it to my SD Card the rom wont appear in the recovery menu to flash it. Any ideas?

Let me start by thanking you for uploading and sharing of all these tutorial videos with us, Thanks to you i finally Rooted my HTC EVO after 4 months of research on the internet you convinced me and i finally got it rooted after 3 days of working on it carefully LoL....Now I'm interested on putting the Evo Deck Rom i found on your website But Before i have a question, putting a new rom on my phone will it erase all my stuff i currently have in it? @AnGeLoLosAngeles Erase everything yes except SD card, but u could save everything use titanium backup app to back up all ur apps but only restore the apps u downloaded from the market not the stock rom apps cause then ur phone will start acting funny. To save ur text messages there's an app for that too, ur contacts just export them onto ur SD card, this should all be done before flashing a new rom.

TO EVERYONE NOT GETTING A SERIAL NUMBER: Before you start, turn your phone off and take the battery out. Under where the battery should be, your serial number can be found there. It would be the same exact serial number that the command prompt would give you.
