  • This makes me miss my island. No wonder I can't sleep at night!

  • @TheSnokitty word man, I feel you.

  • trust when i say...they will put you to sleep!!!!...i miss my island

  • @wortiz33 well said, they really do put me to sleep when I hear them every night, it relaxes me.

  • A recording of coqui frogs is used in an ambient soundscape in The Mars Volta's track "Miranda, that ghost just isn't holy anymore", and everytime I hear them I get taken straight back to it. Lovely, haunting sound.

  • Hermoso. :)

  • Wow, such a relaxing noise.

  • Us Puerto RIcans would lose our minds if we ever lost our coquis.

  • @TheRenegadeAssassin word manq, same here.

  • awwwww!!!! i lovee iit!!! its sooooo cuuuuteee***!!!! suuuucha cutiee piiie!! :) <3 <3 <3

  • i love hearing the sound the coqui makes. everytime i go to puerto rico i love sleeping to the sound of the coqui :D

  • que hermosura!

  • i miss them so much cant get sleep without them

  • @cristalship ...yes u 're right, it's a bless to hear our Coqui singing all night long...coquí,coquí,coquí. :-)

  • For Puertorricans to hear this frogs at night is a blessing, like hearing the birds singing in the morning. Some species are in extinction like the Golden Coqui already gone. People try to make no harm to them. At my house in PR we have fruits trees and plants. When is really hot during the summer, we maintain the area humid and fresh, so the frogs can spend the night there. One jumped in to my arm once. They're cold, like jelly!!. hehe but cute. Was no afraid at all.

  • @crystalship42 It really is a blessing to hear them at night, that is so true man, very true.

  • I like

  • The Coqui Seguro que YES! I lived on Hawaii, did they reall transport the Coqui there! I never heard it. But when I had the pleasure of living in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico....I had my very own Coqui in my kitchen, everytime I put on my Salsa music he would start singing too (croaking) because Salsa uses the beat of the Coqui in a lot of the compositions..Rich Blessings!

  • Just got back from my native PR and absolutely love the Coqui beautiful chirp. Very soothing.

  • he is sooooo CUTE!!!!!!!!

  • I love this sound, there are some nights they don't sing just crickets, tell Hawaiians to pack em' up, we want them!!!

  • @tytania3545 Yeah, I want my coqui back from Hawaii!

  • The legendary song of the night...

  • wow God has blessed us with such a beautiful frog that sings to Puerto Rico every night.

  • im from puerto rico and most people their find it relaxing :)

  • Ohhh how much I miss el canto del coqui!

  • Ah... The legendary sound!!! It gives me goosebumps!!!!

  • OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SOUND...

  • I could listen to the beautiful song of the Coqui 24/7!

  • The coqui is native to the Island of Puerto Rico but at some point it became one more on the endangered species list. At this point it was decided that Hawaii had similar climate as Puerto Rico and they decided to take some coquis over there and it worked! And yes people in Hawaii hate them because they are not used to the sound, in Puerto Rico we grew up with them so we cannot go to sleep without them.

  • @YiLopez So true... We don't even notice!

  • @YiLopez Well not really they were transported by accident in a shipment of plants from PR by a guy call Syd Singer! I love the sound of el coqui is stupid how humans altered ecosistems by accident!

  • When i lived in Puerto Rico these cuties helped me sleep a lot at night.

  • I am surprised that the Coqui is in Hawaii????? I always thought once the frogs leave the island, they die. People have attempted to bring the frogs to the United States but they die on the way to the mainland

  • sounds like a bird

  • when i used to go pr to visit famliy my grandma wouldn't sing me a lul-aby she the coqui's did it for her the Puerto Rican lul-aby

  • Being born puerto rican n Mexican in california I never thought I would go to PR but did. Nothing beats my first night sitting on the balconoy listening to lo coquis cantando un cancion tan belleza

  • For us as puertorricans is part of our lives. I feel emotion when I can see one and listen to it. Specialy outside in the Country, far from he City . My family used to sit outside just to talk about the day with a cup of coffee listening the coquies sing.

  • Its not tourists that hate these frogs, its residents of hawaii. Mostly because its not native to hawaii, and they can be found in densities in hawaii of up to 50,000 individuals per hectare. multiply the call in this video by 50,000 and try to sleep, and then see how cute they are.

  • @arneb04 Yes I can sleep with the 50,000. Is about customizing to it. I miss them because they are endangered species and don't hear them as often as before. I wish all those in Hawaii could come back to PR...

  • I learned about the Coqui Frog by watching Sesame Street.....

  • @ikei98 did you really leart it that way!! i can belive it!!! let me see if i can find that

  • @tartaro11 Lol yeah i did. Lol i was watchin old videos n stuff like that, and then it was an episode on somebody, and she sed she missed home and then she started talkin about right about then the coqui's wouldve been singing. and then they read a book on it. lol idk i only remember a few details. =)

  • Me encanta!!!

  • Awe!!! I never seen one!

  • viva BORIQUEN!!!! VIVA EL COQUI

  • I didn't know how beautiful it sounds. Thanks for the post.

  • Nice sound and cute, I hope PR keeps Coquis for long time.

  • the coqui is not going anywhere, relax bud.

  • @gellieuno121 actually some1 got a coqui in hawaii and they rproduced and now killin it 4 no reason...only cuz they sing durin the night!! thats just wrong!!

  • @reaperontherun716 yea! the weather conditions are the same in hawai as puerto rico. thats why they thrive there.its a shame that people think this way about the noble coqui, may god bless them. where im from, ( corozal ) we love them.!

  • @RomeroRubioDF i thnk God 4 givin us these cute little guys!! some people dont appreciate it but i do...i <3 coqui's every time i go 2 florida i miss the sound and watch this video! =D

  • Thank your for your passive and responsible answer! However some posted opoinons sound assertive upon what I said. In Oregon and many, many places we don't have these types of frogs.

  • @RomeroRubioDF they only exist in puerto rico and hawaii. as far as i know, there is no place on earth they can live at other than.........

  • @ Gellieuno 121 and @ Reaperontherun 716 That is Cool! and I agree, "Thanks God for giving us these Cute little guys!!" (raperontherum 717).

  • @RomeroRubioDF where u from?

  • @ Reaperontherun716 I am from Mexico.

  • I wish I was going to sleep to this sound.

  • So cute!. I wish I had one in my garden. x

  • if u live in puerto rico like me ulll have as many as u can....u just need a lot of plants and humid terrain like in the mountains of puerto rico.....coquis love humid temperatures....and sing like crazy when it rains a lot!!! and yes they are indeed cute!!

  • I'm American and find these to be too f*ckin cute!

I've never heard a frog croak like that before! It whitles! Hahahaha, and they look cute as hell!

Well from what I've experience most Hawaiian tourists are uptight pricks when they get back to the states/japan so it doesnt surprise me they'd complain about the poor frogs that journeyed by accident from PR to Hawaii. They don't really appreciate life as it is, just money.

  • so true!

  • @rossothecrimson7 To be honest, I don't blame the Hawaiians for the Coqui invasion. They are unnatural there and are probably doing things that are endangering natural Hawaiian ecosystem. True, they don't have to hate, but they do need to get rid of them. Coquis belong in Puerto Rico, anyways.

  • @rossothecrimson7 is a taino legend, the coqui was a taino chief name!!

  • @rossothecrimson7 They may be cute but i live in PR and they get kinda anoying but u get use to them after time.

  • @rossothecrimson7 well im from PR and its a territory of the united states but i was raised in new york

  • @rossothecrimson7 I want to marry you ... now *w* !! *blushes*

    grettings from Puerto Rico ^w^

  • @rossothecrimson7 thanks for your comment bro. they dont understand what is being proud of what they have like us. i'm proud of America and my island and that beatiful frog.

  • im from puerto rico and there is alot of coquis and they help me go to sleep but tht is just my opinion i hate how thr pests in hawaii and i can really go to sleep unless thr is a sound if i try to go to sleep dead quiet it doesnt help plus thr cute

  • i saw something on pbs about these frogs and a couple interviewed in Hawaii said that they couldn't sleep at night because of the noise; heck, i'd take a cocqui sound to crickets anytime!

  • I don't even know why they interviewed a couple of Hawaii cuz the coqui is originally from Puerto Rico. Coquies were shipped into Hawaii for some experiment or something and now they don't want them. Us puertoricans love coquies, they can bring them back anytime!

  • I find them beautiful and so cute! Are you there now?

  • Yes indeed, i'm living here in Puerto Rico right now and i'm listening to a coqui right now XD We love their sound, people in Hawaii can just bring them back to us if they hate their sound :D

  • I'm so jealous! I bet it's beautiful at night and breezy! :) Long live the coquis!

  • Yes it is, maybe not that much in the city where it's cluttered with buildings and stuff but at rural areas it's amazing. And i'm with you... Long Live El Coquí Boricuaaa!! Hahaha :D

  • well i want to visit but to the rural part; i am from the caribbean (trinidad) and although I was born in the city; I prefer the lush quiet landscapes with nature sounds! :)

  • yes it is....mostly in the mountains....like El Yunque or the center of PR...La Cordillera Central!

  • ive livedall my 18 years in PR...im puertorrican and i love coquis!! i like it when it rains cuz they call like crazy when its dark or it rains!!

  • Eh I don't know. I find that the sound of the coqui helps me sleep quite nicely. :)

  • you get use to it...

  • Actually I do. The sound is very soothing and I found when I got back to the States I actually had trouble sleeping without them. They're one of the biggest things I miss about PR.

  • jaja esta haciendo bombas de chicle

  • (: omg. keee lindoo!

  • I know the exact moment the night has fallen cause they all start as one in the back of the house where it's wild, then, as suddenly as they started they fall silent so their song will start again slowly to full blast. :P I love them. MIssed them so much when I visited aunty in Miami.

  • Man i hated this sound when i was in Puerto Rico the first night but when i got back to the states i couldn't sleep without them. I especialy loved that sound right after it rained it was like they were all talking to eachother never got to see one i person wish i did.

  • I moved to Puerto Rico about 3 months ago and I love it here. I have also heard the coquis at night and it is beautiful music indeed.

I don't know why anyone would hate Puerto Ricans, they're good people. In fact, moving here has made me see how arrogant people from the states can be sometimes.

  • nativepun dont talk for alll of us

  • Thank you. Even with the few people with bad attitudes, I find that most people are very nice here.

  • well u very welcome.

  • I've noticed the same thing. (i was born there and go every summer.)

  • i hate you....

  • Why do you hate Puerto Rico man?!Cause we are proud of who we are or just because you think we live in the poor ass of the world?Or is it that americans have enslaved us for more than a century and the rednecks wont accept it (not you cool americans xD)? We are not people to hate just because we are proud of being puertoricans yet humble...Greetings to everyone out there from the island living here all my life I LOVE PUERTO RICO!!PUERTO RICO TE QUIERO!!!I was born here and i die here xD Peace

  • i miss them so much....on vacation at nite in my grandpas backyard they make the most lovely noise....puerto rican coquis are the sexiest sounding

  • Coqui frogs are so cute! I prefer them to the sounds of the city. :) I've heard them in Hilo, Hawai'i and I don't know why people complain about them!

  • Well, it's certainly much better than the sounds of sirens screaming past or horns honking in the distance, or, even better; neighbors arguing at 1 am in the morning.

I prefer the sounds of nature to that of the city.

  • Oh I've heard them before and strangely, it doesn't bother me. I was in Hilo, Hawai'i for three weeks and I got use to it within days.

  • I've been in Puerto Rico twice, one for 9 weeks, and the other one for 4 weeks, and the coqui song is one of the things that I miss at most!

Puerto Rico, great island, even the frogs are cool! =D

  • you rock man you are the best I agree with you since i am puertorican and i live there
