It's funny how someone wanting to keep the fruits of there labor and property is greedy but those wanting the confiscation and redistribution of that private wealth for there own benefit is not. In other words, who's more greedy, those who wish to keep their wealth or those who feel entitled to the wealth of others?
Right. but they would not have gotten as far, nor as powerful without the government keeping sugar in the US artificially high and buying excess sugar to boot. Crony capitalism if I ever saw it.
however its true. Greed can be a force for good. However gov. endorsed winners is another story all together. Sugar barons and special interests and people who actually voted to make a corp. a legal person....aweful stuff that is.
It implies unethical behavior, unfairness, dishonesty.
Greed is never good or honorable. There must be a better, more appropriate word to indicate what you are trying to say. It muddles the discussion to argue that greed can be a force for good.I agree with you wholeheartedly that people are not corporations. "Special interests" with deep pockets have taken over too many greedy and needy senators and congressmen. "Get money out"
greed isnt the word libertarians picked, its one thats shoved down our throat ever single day, so we just run with it. Every aspect of a libertarian is considered by the sheeple masses as greedy and dis-concerning. You find taxes to be theft and unconstitutional as a role of government? Republicrats call that greedy. You find nation building economically self-destructing & bad P.R. Again you have no heart. You find obama care repulsive in its very nature, you monster!
You problem is that the american people look at capitalism with complete and utter disgust. Our argument is that if we are greedy for wanting a better life for ourselves, then greed is a force for good. Sam Walton didnt open walmart for the sake of humanity. Nor did Henry Ford practically revolutionize the automotive industry for the sake of the working man. even most science achievements were reached through prizes or monetary incentives. Need I start about disney? Lol

The sugar barons created and exported tragedy and suffering in the form of slavery.
Excruciating, motivated by greed.

I disagree, "greed" is by definition, bad.
It implies unethical behavior, unfairness, dishonesty.
