  • So would this be like the game 'Clue', but just 1000% times better?

  • @donniedarko88888 yessir!

  • @donniedarko88888 i doubt it woule be like clue its not really a who did it thing your just trying to find clues to stop the monster so its like a action clue game type deal if that helps

  • I want this game more than anything.... But I dont have the kind of friends that would sit down and play it with me :/

  • It sounds like a fun game, and I think it would be absolutely awesome if there was a computer or console version of it. That way, the computer could be the Keeper and you could get your friends in front of your TV (or through the internet) and play together. Additional scenarios could be downloaded through DLCs and the like.

  • Have played this with friends for the first time yesterday. Was an amazing night!

  • man I must HAVE THIS GAME!

  • I'm totally sold. Going to order one right now!

  • do you need like a game master for this or is it like arkham horror that doesnt need a game master?

  • @tukertex One player needs to play the Keeper, which is much like a Games master - so no it's not like Arkham Horror in that respect.

  • A really good game for every RPG fans or Lovecraft enthousiast... Very enjoyable. Easy to undestand and play, but not easy to win !

  • This game looks so excellent! Fantasy Flight designs such high quality games. I want all their stuff!

  • @WuschelofDespair Ah, ok, thank you, I found your comment really useful!

  • We just bought the game...and it f***ing RULES!

Very good game, it really delivers the atmosphere of the call of Cthulhu roleplaying game wich we have also played for a decade(best role playing game ever)...

I really look forward to huge expansions, that can be linked together for huge campaigns with travel and stuff...imagine Arkham asylum or Miskatonic university as expansions!? =)

  • @strychninekiss

just wondering, seen that ur from sweden. im from germany and I we play the roleplay game "das schwarz auge" ("the dark eye" is the english term I think). its a german roleplaying game and here in germany its very big. I was just wondering how famous it is in other countries. do u actually know it? I havent tried cthullu yet, but I heard that its great. but to be honest I dont have time and money for a second roleplay game. anyway this boardgame looks sweet

  • @WuschelofDespair : It's well know in France as "Oeil Noir". Because it was popularized in the 80' by these "Book where you are the Here" translated in French by Gallimard. They import and edit the roleplay game too, but in a poor way, because they were into books and not into RPG game. So the game is know, as a game for beginners to roleplay. Every RPG player in France heard of this game, but very few play it. But we naver taste the original ;-)

  • @MrStanq : I mean "Livre dont vous êtes le héro" but I don't know how to translate this".;-)

  • @MrStanq book where you are the hero

  • Nice cutoff prevention there.

  • your house will be cursed to madness after u read this!

  • Gotta buy this game - the main designer obviously has Whateley blood!

  • After watching the review, I (perhaps wrongly) got the impression that this game has been designed to be played just a few times. After that, the stories and puzzles start repeating over and over again. Obviously, you cannot have fun by solving puzzles you had already solved in previous games. Is this the case, or am I wrong?

  • @francisquillo87

    Holas!

I believe that you could conceivably play just one scenario several times & get several different endings... Seems the variables are in the # of players & the ones (Story goals) that the Keeper (the guys/gal who plays all the enemies) chooses. But I could be wrong.

  • @francisquillo87

I have not play it yet, but I heard that for each of the 5 stories there r 3 ways to solve which makes 15 rounds to play. since u dont play that game every day nor every week and there r still other great games, that will make for a long time. plus 1 player takes the role of the evil whatever. who leads the adventure and so on. I think if u have that role, the same story can be fun over and over again. I sometimes lead roleplay games, and for leadin a story works twice

  • I'm just hoping the expansions will introduce more Arkham Horror characters.

To put a value on these minis. Well, they are only available pre-painted and cost in the UK £4 each. There are 48 overall to collect, that's under £200

FF have the whole catalogue of 48 AH plastic minis pre-painted and so released 8 of them for this new game, unpainted. Releasing 8 with the next expansion would add huge value to both games. That way I could paint my own minis for the older game Arkham Horror.

  • Hrm, I love Arkham Horror, so I guess I should try this.

  • So this is the guy that designs the games I play....WOW

  • I like it!

  • this game is awesome

  • 3 frail Investigators went insane from the review.

  • ok so is this a better game then betrayal at the house on the hill? I sound exactly like it, either way I am getting both jajaja but I really want an oppinion about them

  • Just got my copy this week, and i can certainly say that this game is INCREDIBLE! Excellent mecanics, that are not too simplorious, and still very easy to learn. Awesome components, the kind of game that is worth of your money.

  • @DEMETRIUSGUITAR "Simplorious"?

  • @Fivepast01 No, they`re not simplorious. What I said is that the rules have some complexity, but they`re still very easy to learn. Greetings!

  • @DEMETRIUSGUITAR "Simplorious"?

  • OMG WHY DID THEY PUT SPOLERS IN THE VIDEO?

  • 3 residents of Innsmouth didn't like this video.

  • @Yukon5G M.Bison: OF CROUSE!

  • Regarding the keeper being too powerful, wouldn't it just be simpler to ensure the player acting as keeper does the role in the interest of making the game balanced and fun for the other players? I would have thought this was a given.

  • hmmm I am guessing replayability rating will be low....cue thousands of expansions aka Arkham Horror.

  • Had about 6 games as Keeper now, my friends all seem to love it at first, but MoM has some serious balance issues. As mentioned in other comments the Keeper is a powerhouse and your investigators will get bored of being destroyed at every turn. Though this is in keeping with Lovecraft's stories, it doesn't make for rewarding play once the initial LOLs wear off. We're making some modifications to the rules to buff Investigators, hopefully future games will be better.

  • just played it tonight. it was alright, nothing special to me. the movement and combat system seem a but flawed and the keeper seems to have way to much power and options. ill probably give it another try but Arkham is much better IMO

  • Just bought this, now just need to find nerdy individuals to play it with

  • call of cthulu is just SCREAMING to be made into an awesome movie.

  • Oh god, I've never played a table top game, but I actually thought "this looks pretty cool", though I'm pretty sure to about 6 billion other people think that's the wrong word.

  • @SgtSpankey It's a board game, much closer to clue or Monopoly than something like DND.

And it's fun as hell, tbh.

  • Ordering this as soon as I get my next paycheck! Love Arkham Horror! Infact, I might play it tonight. Kinda in the mood now, ;D

  • I wish I had friends geeky enough to play this with me.

  • @Hendar23 I hear you, bro.

  • @Hendar23 no offense, but sounds like you don't have good friends ;)

  • @Hendar23 come play with me Dx

  • What's that song playing in the background?

  • Cluedo meets call of cthulhu. Awesome!

  • I cant wait to review this! Looks awesome!

  • this or arkham horror!? why must you give me options!

  • Sold!

  • when when its it Out! :-D

  • @foxcell I believe the release date is March 1. A few stores across the US had a preview event this past weekend and the initial reviews were very positive. :)

  • Damn this looks amazing, I've not yet played anything by FFG that isn't great, we play Arkham horror and I can't wait to get this as well. You guys absolutely rock.

  • Wow...Does everyone at FF have a beard?

  • Anyone notice that the mansion entrance tile looks just like the mansion entrance from Resident Evil?

  • Holy crap. the guy in 5:00 got a HUGE MOUTH

  • Mansions of Madness was also the title of an old sourcebook for the classic Call of Cathulu RPG.

  • FF is known for great component quality, however the games they produced that are actually "Good" is less than 50%.

I'll have to wait till it comes out & some good reviews are made. They sure know how to advertise is, that's for sure.

  • FFG is the best - hands down. I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

  • They forgot to put in you can paint your figures!

Best board game I've seen yet!

  • "I so desire to play this... but there is no one who would or could play this with me" - Cthulhu

  • HOLY SHIT! That monster at the end scared the crap out of me, I didn't expect that O.o

  • Too bad that the art on the character cards seem to be reused from AH.

Looks awesome as a whole though.

  • This looks soo cool! like betrayel at house on the hill, but with a decent journeys in the dark and arkham horror twist. MUST HAVE !

  • they should turn this into a online game xD

  • cthulludo :)

  • You guys should contribute this to the board game geek entry for Mansions of Madness.

  • 5:20 - 5:40

Ah, a classic nerd, so few and far between these days.

  • I only play games designed by people with beards and glasses.....I MUST PLAY THIS!

  • @ProzacPreacher lol , u got bullseye xD

  • How much?

  • NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD

  • cthulhu fhtagn!

  • @gusalagabupagu ia ia!~

  • Mmmmmmmm cthulhu

  • Looks like Clue but EPIC

  • @beatboxpeej Clue is already moderately epic, in the sense that not even the murderer has any idea as to his identity. One wonders how drunk everyone got at the preceding party.

  • I have a feeling this will be showing up at boardgame night.

  • Madness!

  • IA IA CTHULU!

  • Great game, i want it! translate to spanish please!

  • @NashinBledak HABLA CON LOS NERDOS DE EDGE ENTERTAINMENT ENTONCES.

  • Do want.

  • Ooooooh. I want it!

  • I love the crisp, rich colours of the map pieces.

  • I have never wanted a game so much in my life before. Day one purchase.

  • Decent meets Arkham Horror. Ok going to buy...must buy......can't resist.......

  • This game is SO going to rock!!!!

  • a serious "clue" mixed with lovecraft. wonderful idea. i really like the minis and i think they'd look great painted up.

  • WOW!!! look great!!

  • Really looking forward to this game. Corey (how do you pronounce his last name?) has proved to be an innovative designer, and the FFG 'bling' looks really cool! Roll on March...

  • As someone who is a big fan of RPGs, board games, and the Cthulhu mythos, I cannot think of a more perfect game concept.

  • You need to make an iPhone Apps or a soundboard for this game. Having that with that light off and a very dim light just bright enough to see the card and game would makes the game even more epic win.

  • Can. Not. Wait.

  • Can't wait.
