Well at 0:59 he's playing (correct me if im wrong) a D Minor scale in which he's bending from the 17th fret to the 20th and back again on the E string. Which is perfectly fine because both notes fall on the 4th form of the Minor Pentatonic Scale.

He's playing all the tracks himself. That requires a certain amount of synchronization with the other tracks which are recored all at different times. He can't be looking at his fellow band members or anything like that, because there are none.

Personally, I think he has a pensive facial expression in this one, like he's thinking about "Y" and the music is just flowing out of his fingers as a presentation of his mood. That's what I see and I like what I see.
