I'd start with a pair of clown fish, and either a damsel or green chromis...something like that..they're inexpensive and hearty fish...and then once your tank is more established you could add another fish or two (perhaps something more exotic)...I have a valentino puffer, and a blue tang along with 2 clowns and a damsel in my tank.
Hmm...I'm not 100% sure but this is my best guess from memory...you can find the exact dimensions listed on the museumtour website which is where I bought it. But it's about 6 feet long, 1 1/2 feet tall, 4 1/2 inches deep and holds about 10 gallons. ;-)
Yes, mine came with a sponge that I rinse out each weekend. It just takes a few minutes and keeps the tank clean. You can get more sponges at your local fish store or most pet stores.
I use the light and heater that came with the tank. I think it's a compact fluorescent, and not sure of the heater type but it is the typical one you can find at any fish store. No protein skimmer, I just do regular water changes which keeps everything happy.
Thanks, it looks like I have the same multifunctional filter as yours, however mine seems to be missing a sponge inside, did yours have one that you need to rinse out every so often
It is really hard to say how much you need to put into it. That is up to the personal taste of each hobbyist. Most of the fish cost 6-25 ea. I think the live rock was 4-5/lb. The live sand was about 30-40 for the package. The corals are 30 each...so I'd say I probably have a few hundred dollars worth of stuff in the tank, but I built it up slowly, so assume 100 to start with the live rock and live sand, and then 25 for a few inexpensive fish, and then once you're established add more.

I've seen them grow pretty big in larger tanks, but over the last 4 years he hasn't grown that much in my small tank.
