Very few Americans are against immigration. Most of us are aware of its benefits and necessity as the video points out. What Americans like I have a problem with is chaotic unrestricted illegal immigration which allows anyone to enter this country at anytime regardless of criminal history, health issues and etc. ORDERLY IMMIGRATION is all we are asking for. Yet some will label me a racist for merely suggesting such a common sense idea.
As Binswanger's article on Capitalism magazine puts it very clearly (i suggest you look it up) it is immoral to restrict immigration of individuals - OUTSIDE of criminals and terrorists. If they are non-criminal individuals, you have no right to restrict their entrance into any borders.
I wonder then how Binswanger would propose we determine whether one is a criminal or terrorist. Would this not require immigrates to follow some sort of process of discovery, background check, authenticate identity documentation and such. You know and ORDERLY process.
Same way you prove you're apt for a job to your employer. Background checks can be run, you just simply can't stop someone from coming into the country if they're innocent.

Wow. Good one. As soon as I heard the beginning of Neil Diamond's "America", I knew it was going to be a good montage video, since it's such an inspiring song. To use it in service to arguing why immigration is so important is a perfect fit.
I'm not sure why Morena Baccarin was included, since it seems the rest were chosen because they or their accomplishments were widely known.
As for Ann Coulter, I think we should build a wall around her. And get illegal aliens to do it.

And Thomas Paine, of course, was an immigrant.
In 1784, when George Washington was looking for bricklayers & carpenters to work on his home, he wrote to his aide Tench Tilgman about how a boatload of Germans had arrived, & he wanted Tilgman to look for some to hire. Washington said, "I would not confine you to Germans. If they are good workmen, they may be of Asia, Africa, or Europe."
I recognized most of the people shown in this video, but I had no idea that Bob Hope and Morena Baccarin were immigrants. I learned a lot from this video. :-)
To understand that I have every moral right to invite a consenting adult Mexican onto my plot of land -- when that Mexican does not have a visa -- is to understand the moral principle behind private property rights.
It's very fitting that the cheering started when Ayn Rand's face appeared. ;-)
These days, the anti-immigrationists are particularly hostile toward Mexicans. 1 story I find interesting is of Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa. Without any visa, he illegally crossed the border from Mexico into the USA, & took up low-paying jobs on farms for less than the minimum wage. He saved money & sent himself to medical school. He's now a neurosurgeon saving the lives of native-born Americans.
Open immigration is what makes a country really grow when there is no welfare state. When people aren't burdens on each other by virtue of their laziness, then the type of people who come to the U.S. are the people who create and produce wealth.
I wish we would drop the welfare state, open our boarders, and tell those who want something for nothing to go to Europe.
Open immigration? What will protect us from all those viscous, dangerous opera singers from who knows where? Ever thing about that...mi gatito dulce?

Well, the reason I chose Morena was because she is a young actress who is quite promising. Properly cast, I think she'll be able to go quite far.
