  • the bass line comes in...

    first couple lines...

    "that's the difference between us..."

    fuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • I was like, cool, cool, OHGODMYEARSAREBLEEDING!

    *turns volume down*

Not bad... Not bad at all.

  • The drumbeat is like the German band Can

  • I say they got a lot of inspiration for this album from Pink Floyd's very early albums, such as A Saucerful of Secrets, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Meddle and especially Ummagumma

  • @lslreverbnation I totally agree, though I wouldn't call anything after A Saucerfull Of Secrets early, since Barret was missing.

  • @elisavet80 Well, Barrett was sort of on that one, if you count Jugband Blues.

  • One of my favorite Lips tracks, kickass

  • Five retards watched this video.

  • now that, dead dad........am i the only one who hears that?!

  • Music like this is able to make me say that I am proud to be an Oklahoman!

  • got a little repetitive pass half way, just my opinion. First half is brilliant !!

  • Man I love this song. The lyrics are so real.

  • i still like the album transmission from a satelite heart the best

  • anyong going to the parade of 1000 skeletons??

  • Wish I knew about this album before I went tripping

  • im going to see them this saturday! cant wait!

  • this music is so good fucked up on drugs lol

  • They just keep getting better!

  • How influenced are Flaming Lips by CAN??????

  • This blew my mind live.

  • Uncontended...Play it agin

  • I love this photo

  • my bro showed me this i didn't really like it but i went back and now i love the whole album

  • only song i found amazing was 'powerless'

  • Really? You didn't find "Silver Trembling Hands" addicting?

  • is it possible to buy the cd in stores?

  • @baciweiler yeah its called Embryonic

  • ohhh yes. Got one (envy me now!). Go find one in local stores or order, even from abroad. (dude awsum totalleh [insert appropriate internet slang here ])Worth it.

  • Hello, I want that you know that only initiate my account in YouTube to leave this message, I really think that their songs are brilliant, I wait for soon visit Mexico, since the last time that walked here not knew them well and I did not attend the event.

Sorry for my little english XD

  • just saw them last night

  • And I saw, mushroom head....and I saw mushroom head, I was born and I was dead. It is a total nod to Can....gonna make a movie.

  • @limbicious Good call

  • I love this - I am ordering my fur lined CD right now!!!!! And its MY Christmas present!

  • Big thumbs ups to the people who made the Can references.

  • Incredible. They continually push boundaries. That's the difference between real music and candy pop diddies. I don't feel comfortable listening to this song...but I don't want to. One of the best bands ever period. Thanks!

  • i had to listen to this song about five times before i could get onto the rest of the album.

  • It's great the lips are still together. Embryonic inspires me to make music again.

  • it's sick how they just keep getting better and better. so great!

  • what?????

    they get BETTER????

  • Love it, saw them yesterday amazing show.

  • Sweet Oklahoman glory. =P Wayne is a very cool dude.

  • Fucking AWESOME song. This one you guys played on the Colbert Report.

Has a strong psychedelic feel to it, less pop than other FL songs. Darker sounding too.

  • WHooo CAARES tHEESE GUYS MAke sEseNSSE

  • moby vs. tortoise

  • It's pretty cool that The Flaming Lips are still good after what has been almost a thirty year career.

  • It's good to see some bands always push the envelope and create new good sounds.

  • Lol, I agree with the wholewheatbagel there

  • This song comes on xm radio at work all the time. Love the new stuff, which I can hardly ever say about bands.

  • @comrade21325

    All the time ?? ...

  • these guys are very successful, which kinda surprises me because they never sold out. Thier style is very out there. But people get it. I'm glad because we need bands like this. They are artists. Not top ten chart toppers.

  • I'd wonder if it's a matter of style or analysis on your part. It's an occasional revealed approach for the lips to take. By contrast to their soaring melodious selves, I love it when they slather their warped artistic view over a droning stoner grind.

  • they've definately been jammin some Can... fukkin' awesome!

  • Please upload Saggitarius silver ....

  • the lips are always amazing

  • "Play three times before listening," Sonic Boom. I reckon this applies to this. It sounds alright on my first hearing and I'm glad to hear the Flips are experimenting again. Stay true to yourselves, guys.

  • yeah...Silver Apples.... :)

  • the whole thing is super great..the lo-fi recording makes the instrumentation so much more interesting...kind of a throw back to the silver apples.

  • I don't like the quality either but style is good :)

  • i like the bad quality white noise fuzz!

  • I like this song, but the production quality is bad (the itunes download is barely better). Their cover of Madonna's "Borderline" was th same way - wonderful cover song, but the quality of the recording was so poor (feedback, white noise, etc.) that I find it very hard to listen to. It sounds like it was recorded by an amateur in a basement. I'm sure this was intentional, but I can't fathom why.

  • why not? its a very unique sound,

  • :) but yeah me too, but i'm still fan

  • I reckon it sounds awesome, gives it a sort of wall-of-sound feel, really heavy and noisy.

If you haven't, check out the bands 'Neu!' and 'Can', in songs like this the influence is obvious.

    Awesome song.

  • Definitely reminds me of Vitamin C by Can

  • Awful Quality, Great song!

  • i just heard this on the colbert report and i loved it!

  • saaaame!

  • @atorias Ssame here; this song is astounding

  • does everyone forget they covered can on in a priest driven ambulance?

  • I really like this new song, they continue to innovate, Coyne for President !

  • anyone who does not like song/or album well! "thats the difference between us"!!!

    :)

  • this is goooooood.

  • this song is better live.

  • Wayne is sexy as hell. I agree with Shelly...they never let us down! They are so innovative and fresh. Keep it up guys!!

  • I'm so impressed with how the band sounds now. They've come such a long way.

  • Just saw the show at Redrocks last night! The new setup was out of this world and the new costumes that the roadies were wearing were wicked. The new songs are made to be played live. It was pretty amazing. Rivaled the UFO show @ the OKC ampitheater. The Lips are the greatest!!!!

  • Is it just me or does it sound a bit like Can? When the drums kick in it reminds me of 'Mushrooms'.

See The Leaves is a bit like that too. Bit of a Krrautrock vibe.

  • Definitely agree, but they've been jacking can since 1990. "take me ta mars" off of "Priest Driven Ambulance" is a rather shameless rip off of that same track.

  • Anybody heard the full album stream on the Colbert site? The rest of the album definitely has Can influences throughout. Watching the Planets in particular has a very 'Mother Sky' bassline.

  • I've got no objections to can influences! :P

Seems alot of bands are picking up on the whole krautrock sound lately.

This is a great new song, don't wanna listen to anything else at the risk of spoiling the album for me. I'll probably buy it later this year.

  • I always buy their latest album as soon as it's released because I always know they will satisfy. Each album is different but is always good, no matter how varied the styles. This song is kinda strange so I am very hopeful that they have expanded their boundaries even more. The Flaming Lips never let me down!

  • Awesome im buying the new album for sure. anyone know when its due to come out?

  • No, there isn't a due date announced by WB yet.

  • I heard december 29th

  • September 29th is the date according to the Wikipedia entry on Embryonic. The tracklist is also on that page, as confirmed by Kliph.

  • the official date is October 13th, can't wait.

  • thanks for uploading this

  • Fantastic (=
