I stand corrected, but for the record; that is not a misspelled word (how is an actual word unlike eloquantly), it was poor word selection ie. how instead of who in my haste to respond. And as an educator, I cannot resist a mispelled word. Nevertheless, don't make excuses or is it simply settling for less. And don't waste your time with spell check, it won't help if the word does not exist!

I find it slightly distressing that THIS much tension is stemming from a freaking step show. I'm not saying you don't put work into them, but it shouldn't be THAT serious. I hope you put twice the amount of effort that goes into, not only greek shows themselves, but also beefing over who did better, into your community service.
If not, you've seriously missed the mark on what these organizations are SUPPOSED to be about; and that's especially sad considering these are Alpha chapters at a prestigious university like Howard. Losing jobs and failing finals for a STEP SHOW?! SERIOUSLY?! Well, personally, I watched both shows over and over and the K's deserved it. People get so caught up in who stole what..Here's a news flash fellow Greeks..EVERYTHING is borrowed..I've seen things we did at Psi Chapter(PBS) in Atlanta in high school shows, dorm shows, other Greek shows in years following..Thats one of the side-effects of the youtube age.
But on a more important note, who won the COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD??
dst won the step show but is too jealous and bitter to be happy about it. Instead and as always, your in here watching the AKA's. You all have been playing the same broken record since 1913.
AKAs did a great job and I commend their hard work. Sorors did a great job and won. Let's stop all this negativity because being part of the Divine 9 is so much bigger than stepping. At the end of the day, we should be focused on the purpose of the organizations we chose to be a part of. Be blessed.
If not, then let your work speak for itself. Also, don't let those on the outside add hate to something that should unite us (yes, this is to the ones that are not Greek but have comments from here to China). It takes hard work and dedication to step at HU (it's not like anywhere else...I know this for a fact).

In reference to the actual step show, I agree everyone did do a wonderful job. The AKAs and the Delta's are the ones who make the show every year, and basically are the ones who everyone comes to see. So Kudos to both!
Dddaza you are missing the point about the whole "A" on the sleeve A team thing! The point is THE DELTAS MADE IT UP & WERE DOING IT FIRST! Nobody denied the AKAs had a wining streak @ one point in time, but the fact of the matter is that the Deltas had the winning streak from 2002-2006 & THATS WHEN THEN "A" TEAM thing evolved!!!! The AKAs had a line in 2001 and then not again until 2005. Ask ANY AKA from 2001 or prior if they EVER did that A on the sleeve when they were on the yard...NOPE!!!...
...I guarantee you you wont see an AKA from 2001 line doing it (whether it was when only a few of them on the yard in 01, 02, or 03)...WHY...because it didn't start until 2004 WITH THE DELTAs after they were continuously on their winning streak. So when the 2005 AKA line came, they saw the Delta's doing it and that's when they started doing it. IT IS A FACT that the Delta's were the ones doing it first and AKAs DIDN'T START DOING IT UNTIL 2005 AND AFTER!...
2. I don't think anyone's ever been "comfortable". No one can imagine the time, work and stress that goes into being on a step team unless they've been on a HU D9 step team. People lose jobs, fail exams, lose multiple nights of sleep- all in the name of representing their chapter. So to say that anyone's every been "comfortable" is a slap in the face to their sacrifice. Even if you're on a winning streak, you're always looking out for the #1 spot.
1. I'm sorry but the AKAs were not off the yard at Howard during this decade. They hadn't had a line every year like the Deltas, but there was never any point where there were NO AKAs on campus. So while there have been many Deltas in facebook pictures doing it, there had been many Alpha Chapter AKAs doing it as well. Just because you saw them do it on facebook first doesn't been that it was done by them first. Let's not be dumb here.
1. Well, they couldn't have a line every year for about 3 years because they were suspended so let's not act like they just chose not to have a line. That doesn't really matter because they have made up for the lines they missed within the last two years.
2) Not to call anyone out but someone once said "what are those Deltas doing? They look tacky with that "A" on the sleeve thing." Then the next thing I know, I see the AKAs doing it. I thought that it was tacky?!?! The excuse was "We're Alpha Chapter too so we can do it too. No-one is copying because it's an Alpha chapter thing." Ummm...didn't need facebook to see that.

It wasn't 2000--that was the AKA's. Back in the early 90's the Zeta's, Delta's and AKA's all won. (The guys split it, too, between the Sigmas, Alphas and Kappas.)
How about them Zeta's they should of one the show... First the Founders Step now a Pyramid.. They will b Duck Walkin and Makin a Human Theta Next Homecoming Be on the look out!!!
Basically, the AKAs should step their game up and the Deltas should not get comfortable (It seemed like the Deltas were comfortable last year and the AKAs were comfortable this year). Both teams should keep up the good work because without them...the step show would not be what it is. Think it's not true? Try selling step show tickets after announcing that Alpha chapter AKA and DST will not be stepping (no offense to the frats but we all know who most people come to see).
And YES, I wrote the "Delta's chair step." It may have been the Sigma's chair step elsewhere, but on Howard's campus, it is the Delta's chair step. The same holds true as the AKAs table step. No-one cried out "It's the Kappa's step because a Kappa team in Cali did that in the past." Everyone knows that!! The Kappas did the table step when they did their tribute to AKAs and the chair step when they did their tribute to Deltas. That should put a stop to the cry over the chair step.
I found it hard to believe the AKAs when they said that the Deltas were watching and copying them especially since they did the Deltas chair step last year (and did it well without the chairs) and built a pyramid this year (I ask the million dollar question that no-one has answered "why would AKAs build a pyramid?"). Who really knows who created the stunt first but the Deltas did a better job at proving their accusations (again with the "A" on the sleeve, the "A-team" term and the chair step).
...If you look on FB at old pictures of the Deltas in 2004 (BEFORE THE AKAS WERE EVEN BACK ON THE YARD) they called themselves the A TEAM and put the A on their sleeves. AKAs HAD NEVER DONE THAT IN THE PAST! Then when the AKAs got back on the yard in 05, they stole the gesture and started putting the A on their sleeves.The Deltas STARTED the term A TEAM and were the FIRST ones to start putting the A on their sleeves. That is why they are THE REAL A TEAM! It has nothing to do with founding date!
And as far as The Real A Team is concerned, it has nothing to do with WHO was founded first. The Delta's and the entire world knows that AKA had the first Alpha Chapter 4 sororities. But A TEAM was a phrase that was coined by Delta's when they had that long 5 year winning streak....
The truth of the matter is that the AKAs did have a good show, but it simply wasn't good enough! Regardless of what anyone says about the Delta's dissing the AKAs the fact is the the Delta's show was BETTER hands down..anybody who was there waching it with their own eyes could see that.

I don't know the level of challenge amongst the Alpha chapters but I will tell you this, No DELTA ever needs to steal a pyramid, it is our FOUNDATION. You'll see a perfectly executed Alpha tribute by DST, and a mediocre copying attempt by AKA. As far as knowing that the AKAs were going to use fire, everyone on campus knew that-if you worked for homecoming, you knew that: it has to be approved for the show. The theme went to the frats (when each frat said they choose on group or the other and then the Alphas said they can't choose and went into the song "same girl") Then when they did their history and they said "is there anything we have in common" You obviously weren't WATCHING the step show

I was not talking about the chair stunt at all. When you spy on another org, it makes you look tacky and unoriginal, NOT classy. The sorors responded to a show, and while it did take up a large part of the show, at least their theme was consistent and not contained to an introduction. And my sorors STEPPED. Everyone could see that....
Understand the chair thing was a SIGMA stunt and the AKAs from last year just said they could do it wihtout a chair. Now taking the founding step from last year was harsh so respinding in kind is understandable but devoting your WHOLE show to a diss...thats a little overboard. The Ds could never perform that routine @ any other show! No one would get it. It was solely based on a personal vendetta. Now you CAN'T sa thats not tacky.

They stole a signature Delta stunt from the year before, made fun of the Deltas Founder's step and dedicated their entire show to dissing them. They were bitter from losing in '05. The Deltas put on a CLASSY show this year and put the AKAS in their place for the disrespect they exhibited in '06. Now that's a show worth putting on YouTube.

Actually- in 2001 they came out with heels on with a statement like "We can Step in heels too" a direct reference to the AKA's. And it wasn't an attempt to 'copy' it was meant as a put-down. Which was my point--the put downs are getting ridiculous and we need to get back to STEPPING.

I stand corrected, but for the record; that is not a misspelled word (how is an actual word unlike eloquantly), it was poor word selection ie. how instead of who in my haste to respond. And as an educator, I cannot resist a mispelled word. Nevertheless, don't make excuses or is it simply settling for less. And don't waste your time with spell check, it won't help if the word does not exist!

I find it slightly distressing that THIS much tension is stemming from a freaking step show. I'm not saying you don't put work into them, but it shouldn't be THAT serious. I hope you put twice the amount of effort that goes into, not only greek shows themselves, but also beefing over who did better, into your community service.

If not, you've seriously missed the mark on what these organizations are SUPPOSED to be about; and that's especially sad considering these are Alpha chapters at a prestigious university like Howard. Losing jobs and failing finals for a STEP SHOW?! SERIOUSLY?! I thought the main purpose of going to college was to graduate to get a good job, and anything else was secondary...I mean, maybe that's just me and my skewed perception of reality.

Well, personally, I watched both shows over and over and the K's deserved it. People get so caught up in who stole what..Here's a news flash fellow Greeks..EVERYTHING is borrowed..I've seen things we did at Psi Chapter(PBS) in Atlanta in high school shows, dorm shows, other Greek shows in years following..Thats one of the side-effects of the youtube age.

AKAs did a great job and I commend their hard work. Sorors did a great job and won. Let's stop all this negativity because being part of the Divine 9 is so much bigger than stepping. At the end of the day, we should be focused on the purpose of the organizations we chose to be a part of. Be blessed.

In reference to the actual step show, I agree everyone did do a wonderful job. The AKAs and the Delta's are the ones who make the show every year, and basically are the ones who everyone comes to see. So Kudos to both!

Dddaza you are missing the point about the whole "A" on the sleeve A team thing! The point is THE DELTAS MADE IT UP & WERE DOING IT FIRST! Nobody denied the AKAs had a wining streak @ one point in time, but the fact of the matter is that the Deltas had the winning streak from 2002-2006 & THATS WHEN THEN "A" TEAM thing evolved!!!! The AKAs had a line in 2001 and then not again until 2005. Ask ANY AKA from 2001 or prior if they EVER did that A on the sleeve when they were on the yard...NOPE!!!...

...I guarantee you you wont see an AKA from 2001 line doing it (whether it was when only a few of them on the yard in 01, 02, or 03)...WHY...because it didn't start until 2004 WITH THE DELTAs after they were continuously on their winning streak. So when the 2005 AKA line came, they saw the Delta's doing it and that's when they started doing it. IT IS A FACT that the Delta's were the ones doing it first and AKAs DIDN'T START DOING IT UNTIL 2005 AND AFTER!...

2. I don't think anyone's ever been "comfortable". No one can imagine the time, work and stress that goes into being on a step team unless they've been on a HU D9 step team. People lose jobs, fail exams, lose multiple nights of sleep- all in the name of representing their chapter. So to say that anyone's every been "comfortable" is a slap in the face to their sacrifice. Even if you're on a winning streak, you're always looking out for the #1 spot.

1. I'm sorry but the AKAs were not off the yard at Howard during this decade. They hadn't had a line every year like the Deltas, but there was never any point where there were NO AKAs on campus. So while there have been many Deltas in facebook pictures doing it, there had been many Alpha Chapter AKAs doing it as well. Just because you saw them do it on facebook first doesn't been that it was done by them first. Let's not be dumb here.

It wasn't 2000--that was the AKA's. Back in the early 90's the Zeta's, Delta's and AKA's all won. (The guys split it, too, between the Sigmas, Alphas and Kappas.)

Basically, the AKAs should step their game up and the Deltas should not get comfortable (It seemed like the Deltas were comfortable last year and the AKAs were comfortable this year). Both teams should keep up the good work because without them...the step show would not be what it is. Think it's not true? Try selling step show tickets after announcing that Alpha chapter AKA and DST will not be stepping (no offense to the frats but we all know who most people come to see).

And YES, I wrote the "Delta's chair step." It may have been the Sigma's chair step elsewhere, but on Howard's campus, it is the Delta's chair step. The same holds true as the AKAs table step. No-one cried out "It's the Kappa's step because a Kappa team in Cali did that in the past." Everyone knows that!! The Kappas did the table step when they did their tribute to AKAs and the chair step when they did their tribute to Deltas. That should put a stop to the cry over the chair step.

I found it hard to believe the AKAs when they said that the Deltas were watching and copying them especially since they did the Deltas chair step last year (and did it well without the chairs) and built a pyramid this year (I ask the million dollar question that no-one has answered "why would AKAs build a pyramid?"). Who really knows who created the stunt first but the Deltas did a better job at proving their accusations (again with the "A" on the sleeve, the "A-team" term and the chair step).

...If you look on FB at old pictures of the Deltas in 2004 (BEFORE THE AKAS WERE EVEN BACK ON THE YARD) they called themselves the A TEAM and put the A on their sleeves. AKAs HAD NEVER DONE THAT IN THE PAST! Then when the AKAs got back on the yard in 05, they stole the gesture and started putting the A on their sleeves.The Deltas STARTED the term A TEAM and were the FIRST ones to start putting the A on their sleeves. That is why they are THE REAL A TEAM! It has nothing to do with founding date!

I don't know the level of challenge amongst the Alpha chapters but I will tell you this, No DELTA ever needs to steal a pyramid, it is our FOUNDATION. Now as for the AKAs, using our Pyramid is like us stealing the IVY! No self-respecting Delta would ever do that, diss or no diss! Both shows were great but we just won. And as long as you are an outsider oops...I mean an admirer you will never know enough about any Divine 9 organization!

You clearly do not know the history (as it pertains to stepshows) of these 2 organizations. Check the tapes from '05. Wanna know what you'll see? You'll see a perfectly executed Alpha tribute by DST, and a mediocre copying attempt by AKA. As far as knowing that the AKAs were going to use fire, everyone on campus knew that-if you worked for homecoming, you knew that: it has to be approved for the show. Don't try to spew intelligence that so OBVIOUSLY do not possess.

The theme went to the frats (when each frat said they choose on group or the other and then the Alphas said they can't choose and went into the song "same girl") Then when they did their history and they said "is there anything we have in common" You obviously weren't WATCHING the step show

I was not talking about the chair stunt at all. When you spy on another org, it makes you look tacky and unoriginal, NOT classy. The sorors responded to a show, and while it did take up a large part of the show, at least their theme was consistent and not contained to an introduction. And my sorors STEPPED. Everyone could see that....

Now taking the founding step from last year was harsh so respinding in kind is understandable but devoting your WHOLE show to a diss...thats a little overboard. Also...whats the explanation for them taking a step the Deltas did THIS year (the only way to have done so would have been to spy on practices).
They're show a year ago was nice and the year before was really good.

They stole a signature Delta stunt from the year before, made fun of the Deltas Founder's step and dedicated their entire show to dissing them. They were bitter from losing in '05. The Deltas put on a CLASSY show this year and put the AKAS in their place for the disrespect they exhibited in '06. Now that's a show worth putting on YouTube.

I've stepped on that stage and
1. The mics malfunctioned when they went on and you caould still hear their sound. The only problem was you could hardly hear their chants
2. This team is CLASSY, some teams decided to make their whole show about dissing them and they decided to focus on STEPPING
