Socket F (1207) CPUs do not have pins on the package, rather on the motherboard. Socket F is an LGA (land grid array) style package.

it already beat it up with the HyperTransport for less Mgh involve you should take a tour to wikipedia the give a good explanation of that technologie and see that is a key feature that amd adopted there. but I admit it intel give better Procesing performance but if we take all the spec of amd vs Intel Like data transfer capability betwene the FSB of intel and hyperTransport of amd and other I'm quite confident that AMD is going to beat it.

Hi it is not am2 you should search for socket L1 or 1207. This is more for server rack, in fact that is beacause that it need more pins for the cpu to interconect direcly insted of loading the HyperTransport or the integrated memory controler and floding it with acces.

4 multiplied by 2 is 8. In the Video they build a octa-core System with two quadcore Processors, manufactured by AMD. AMD sells quadcore Processors.

klforever2003, Intel doesn't have a quad core cpu on the market yet. They won't until Penryn is released. Penryn will be more expensive and it will use more watts then Barcelona. Making a chip smaller doesn't make it go faster, it makes it more expensive for customers.

Q6600, Q6700, QX6700, QX6800, and QX6850 are all quad processors for the desktop made by intel. They also have numerous Xeons that are quadcore. Such as the Tigerton, Kentsfiled and Clovertown series. And, yes, making a chip smaller does make it go faster. It allows the transisters to be packed together more densely which in turn speeds up communication.The only thing halfway correct in your entire statement relates to the watts used by a CPU. I suggest reading up on chips from both AMD/Intel

All current Intel Core 2 Quad's aren't 'true' quad core products; they're two dual-core CPU's housed in the same package..not on the same die unlike AMD's Barcelona.

Further, unlike Barcelona these quads contain no onboard memory controller or dedicated interlink, hence all 4 cores are forced to communicate via the CPU's FSB. The only thing Intel can do at present to try and alleviate this bottleneck is to raise the FSB speed and increase cache memory.

Despite having nowhere near the resources Intel has at hand, AMD still managed to produce some very competitive, powerful products, and also built up an impressive customer base. The University of Texas recently acquired 15,000 quad-core AMD processors in order to build a very powerful super-computer.

As regards the 45nm production process..AMD has those coming up shortly.

Kudos AMD. I've been watching you lately. I'm running an AMD FX62 now. I've been very happy with it. From what I've read about Barcelona it's quite impressive. Whether or not it will beat Penryn in speed is another thing. Sales? 65nm costs less to produce then 45nm. I think AMD will continue to gobble up market share from Intel.

this is socket-f or socket 1207. There are no new processors being produced for socket 939, and there have not been since spring 2006. As well, no new processors are being produced or ever will be for socket am2. The future is socket-f, all new processors will be socket-f.

Another example of AMD once again listening to their customers. Much easier to do a field upgrade to add performance, than to endure the down time of swapping out an entire server, especially with the time to move the data and reconfigure the server and drivers.
