It launches at 6.5k rpm, no wonder it's faster than the gtr off the line. If the gtr were to launch at the same rpm, sure it do 0-60 in 3 flat as well. Though the 911 hit 100 in 7 sec, while the gtr does it in 8 sec.
So... compared to a manual transmission... i guess stepping on the brake is like stepping on the clutch... and hitting the gas to the end is like stepping halfway...
Anyways i like this technology but still like to drive stick and it feels more natural launching it like that..
What a douche. No, just because this is a high revving flat six engine and the GT-R's engine is a torquey and slow V6, doesn't mean this PDK is better than the GT-R's gearbox.
plus PDk has been around since the 1970's. It was developed for use on the 962 race cars. I will always love manuals more, but this is the best transmission I have ever driven
I have driven both on a race track and the PDK is superior in every way. It is, quite frankly, race technology. It is not a typical automatic. The automatic is a word used to describe something from the sixties. The PDK and other semi-automatic shift systems for race cars is entirely another. Like comparing a horse and buggy to a Ford Model T. Yes, the thing on the floor is the food feed. Or the gas pedal. The accelerator. The transmission is not automatic. Its a PDK. Drive it real hard and see.
You know that you can still have clutch control with one of these, right? It just hasn't been done yet, but you can, and then heel toe comes into play. The only difference is that you don't clutch or let go of the gas to upshift.
for sure the PDK , believe me the Manuel gearbox dosent compare with PDK .. Duel Clutch gives u ultimate performance the u don't lose rpm when it changed ..
Fuck that, I know plenty of American's myself included who would never dream of buying an automatic Porsche.. I have owned 6 cars including a Porsche and only was an auto and that was a truck.
Meh, I have a manual but it sucks in traffic. With VW/Audi DSG S-Tronic making it's way to the market manual no longer has a speed advantage so it's not even worth it unless you're a true stickshift enthusiast. I'm happy I at least owned 1 stick shit car in my life.
Then internal combustion engines are outdated and electric cars are the way. Soon the cars will be driving themselves. Why bother turning the steering as well when GPS can guide the car from point A to B?? Automatics are boring, uninvolving and require no skills. End of story. Yeah, dual-clutch electronic transmissions use clutches rather than torque converters in automatic, but functionally to the driver, they both are and feel automatics. I have driven dual-clutch transmissions and automatics
I don't get why people are solazy to shift those days..... they want EERYTHING done for them.. it's not fun driving an auto car.. even t-tronic cars aren't as fun as stick shift cars.. :S
Yeah but normally people buy a porsche for daily driving, well at least that is what my parents do with it. And the pdk works great for them. More controllable in snow, faster from 0-60 by a tad, and its just great int he city.
wtf... that guys like 70 in dress shoes using lc?
