Only HEAVY CASUAL players can not get enough gold for artisan riding. In The burning crusade when you had to do 60-70 you got a decent amount of gold since you most likely leveled by questing. Same goes for WoTLK and Cata even better.

I ussually just farm ore or herbs or leather and then put them on the AH for less then the lowest bidder just not too cheap because you don't wanna do all that work for nothing. Put your stuff on at night and never on weekends, Thursday is the best day to post generally on my server, but you have to learn your servers AH trends. GL!
