in a drag race,,, r35 Gtr is little faster and it corners much better too...even from rolling start, r35 was winner in every race me and my friends had with z06... If you guys drag race both cars from dead stop, then Gtr is much faster and it just disappears from a06... I'm not joking, I'm telling from my own experience.

@ITRIEDEL Sorry but you are wrong. I own a 08 Z06 and my brother owns a 09 GTR. The Z06 pulls a little harder although I admit the GTR has much better launching. If you know how to drive a Z06 to its ability, there's know way the GTR can win. It can keep up very well though and I admit, GTR corners like crazy over the Z06 any day.
GTR skidpad 0.89g, 0.93-1.0g on GTR Black depending where you look (road&track motortrend car&driver don't always agree), weighs 3965lbs, and 74-75mph mph slalom speed(depending). Z06 has 1.01g skidpad, Z06 Carbon 1.04g (2006 Z06 has 1.09g). ZR1 1.06g skidpad, weighs 3333lbs, and has slalom speed of 75mph. ZR1 w/PTM has slalom speed of nearly 77mph. ZR1 reaches it's top speed of 205mph before the GTR reaches it's top of 202.

Well, considering the fact that the two cars compete with each other it isn't wrong to compare them. "Give the GTR the same horsepower as the ZR1" - Easier said than done my friend. GTR transmissions already have enough to cope with. I don't think increasing the power of the GTR to around 650hp is going to cooperate with the transmission. Also, what is your basis for saying that A GTR with the same horsrepower as the ZR1 would destroy the ZR1...?
really shows the gtr's two main weaknesses. Without it's launch control, it's not as strong. Also shows that it lacks the beastly torque that makes cars fast after 100mph. That quick shift gearbox it has really hides the gtr's lack of power, the car goes through 3 or 4 gears before it even hits 80mph, the vette has just shifted into second!

i couldnt agree more, however the viper is a straight track car, its not meant for road trips at all. However, the corvette is built for both an i think it does a pretty good job for dual purpose. i have a z06 and a 996tt porsche an i love both. small track i'll take the porsche, big track i'm still taking the porsche lol. The difference is that pro's can make one car better or faster than the other, not joe public. no matter how good a driver they think they are.

The reason it's the driver is because the GTR has nearly the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile time as the Z06 so I don't see how the GTR performed so handicapped. It's straight BS and I agree with my previous comment bro.
z06 with an experienced driver can obtain ridiculous time. That car is just thandful to master. Stop reading into magazine times. Most were tested using nissan supplied pre-production models.
0-60 doesnt mean much in todays cars, what you have too look at more is 0-100 and trap times. Now off the top of my head idk both the gtr and the z06 trap times but im willing to bet the z06 prolly has a few miles an hour on the gtr. This would make the races seem accurate esecially from the roll.

Tires is the main issue with those numbers. I hear next year GM is going to offer the vette with more tire options which will improve upon the times of both the Z06 and the ZR1
Its about time! All the ZO6 really needs is a better set of tires. The tires the ZO6 uses are shitty Goodyear runflats that take alot away from handling performance. I think another option GM should add to the list for the ZO6 is the MRS system and a paddleshift trans.

In case u don't know, which im sure u dont, Nurburgring in Germany is the toughest race track in the world and GTR-R35 completed the lap with 7:29 mins. The Corvette C6 Z06 lap completion can not be found due to it being shit.
You have NO Clue as to what you are speaking of Alsuleis. NO CLUE.
1st of all, Nissan has a PROVEN record of fabricating aka LYING about their Nurburgring times. They has issues with the R34, R33, R32 Skyline times, along with some of their other cars. To date, NOBODY has been able to get anywhere NEAR the reported Nissan time and we are talking about PROFFESIONAL drivers who have ran the 'Ring hundreds upon hundreds of times.
2nd: They lied about the tires they used. It's been pretty much proven that they used CUT SLICKS and NOT the Bridgestone RE070A runflats that comes with the R35.
3rd: They did a ROLLING START. Do you know how many seconds that shaves off from a STANDING start? A LOT!
4th: They used a PRE-PRODUCTION car. Again, NOBODY has been able to get even close to Nissan's reported time with an off the showroom floor GTR.
5th: Tell me how its possible that a car that weighs almost 4,000lbs, (3814 lbs), and has 480 hp and 430 lb-ft torque can run such a blistering time. A time that cars with either more HP and/or less weight are running?
I will tell you how: It can't. It goes against EVERY law of physics known to man!
Now with that said, The R35 is a great car, though nowhere near as great as the R34 Skyline, but being a great car does not equal the ability to destroy the Laws of Physics!
Also, so you know, the ZO6 was a PRODUCTION MODEL car using STOCK OEM tires. It was also MEDIA WITNESSED AND CONFIRMED and the car was driven my famously known Racecar Driver Jan Magnussen. He also ran the ZR-1 and acheived it's blistering 7:22 time. Jan is also a GM Factory Car Driver.

This is another reason I'm with porsche on calling bs on nissan's gtr nurburgring times. For those who don't know, Porsche's driver's couldn't get a newly bought GT-R within 30sec of Nissan's claimed time and Nissan refuses to run the car that Porsche purchased to prove the time.
if you look at the acceleration curves from the road test in different car magazine sources, z06 has explosive acceleration at triple digit speeds, it pulls away from 911 turbo and the gt-r and triple speeds no problem. it just needs grip.
and for those of you that say corvette can't really handle, you know nothing about cars. some of you need to understand that just because if a car american-made and not so expensive, it doesn't mean it can't compete with the respected high end imports.

No, it wasn't stock, look at the specs at the intro. The GT-R won the first race, hence the driver change, and the one from a dig. My original point is, yes the z06 will pass the GT-R eventually, and the Oman race is not an accurate portrayal. If you're going to race against the GT-R from a dig, you better be on your game or you will get smoked. These cars are essentially even at speeds which most of us drive at 99% of the time.
what i am saying is that z06 dynoed at a stock number infact i have seen stock z's dyno higher than that. in the oman race the driver of the z actually knew how to launch a z06 with out to much spin but someone who is not used to a z06 will spin the tires to much i am not going to lie the z06 is not exactly an easy car to launch but from a roll start as you see here the z06 will win and it only makes scence the z has a massive power to weight advantage.

Well, considering the fact that the two cars compete with each other it isn't wrong to compare them. "Give the GTR the same horsepower as the ZR1" - Easier said than done my friend. GTR transmissions already have enough to cope with. I don't think increasing the power of the GTR to around 650hp is going to cooperate with the transmission. Also, what is your basis for saying that A GTR with the same horsrepower as the ZR1 would destroy the ZR1...?

really shows the gtr's two main weaknesses. Without it's launch control, it's not as strong. Also shows that it lacks the beastly torque that makes cars fast after 100mph. That quick shift gearbox it has really hides the gtr's lack of power, the car goes through 3 or 4 gears before it even hits 80mph, the vette has just shifted into second!

i have nothing against american supercars,but they arent perfect they were made for big roads in the US. if you come down to other countries from the cote de azur in france to the rolling roads of japan, the conditions will cripple most american supercars. but unlike you i dont call them "crap" though :P

i couldnt agree more, however the viper is a straight track car, its not meant for road trips at all. However, the corvette is built for both an i think it does a pretty good job for dual purpose. i have a z06 and a 996tt porsche an i love both. small track i'll take the porsche, big track i'm still taking the porsche lol. The difference is that pro's can make one car better or faster than the other, not joe public. no matter how good a driver they think they are.

The reason it's the driver is because the GTR has nearly the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile time as the Z06 so I don't see how the GTR performed so handicapped. It's straight BS and I agree with my previous comment bro.

0-60 doesnt mean much in todays cars, what you have too look at more is 0-100 and trap times. Now off the top of my head idk both the gtr and the z06 trap times but im willing to bet the z06 prolly has a few miles an hour on the gtr. This would make the races seem accurate esecially from the roll.

Its about time! All the ZO6 really needs is a better set of tires. The tires the ZO6 uses are shitty Goodyear runflats that take alot away from handling performance. I think another option GM should add to the list for the ZO6 is the MRS system and a paddleshift trans.

OH BTW: The people who recorded the GTR's fastest run was NOT a media outlet. It was, you guess it!!! NISSAN!
Also, did you know that the GTR's trans is weaker then a stock WRX's tranny? LOL. It's made of GLASS. There are already dozens of reported catastrophic failures with the trans.
Also, if you turn off the Launch Control, you automatically VOID your ENTIRE warranty. It even states it in the owners manual. ROFL. A performance car that you have to drive like a Civic.

In case u don't know, which im sure u dont, Nurburgring in Germany is the toughest race track in the world and GTR-R35 completed the lap with 7:29 mins. The Corvette C6 Z06 lap completion can not be found due to it being shit.

1st of all, Nissan has a PROVEN record of fabricating aka LYING about their Nurburgring times. They has issues with the R34, R33, R32 Skyline times, along with some of their other cars. To date, NOBODY has been able to get anywhere NEAR the reported Nissan time and we are talking about PROFFESIONAL drivers who have ran the 'Ring hundreds upon hundreds of times.

2nd: They lied about the tires they used. It's been pretty much proven that they used CUT SLICKS and NOT the Bridgestone RE070A runflats that comes with the R35.
3rd: They did a ROLLING START. Do you know how many seconds that shaves off from a STANDING start? A LOT!
4th: They used a PRE-PRODUCTION car. Again, NOBODY has been able to get even close to Nissan's reported time with an off the showroom floor GTR.

Also, so you know, the ZO6 was a PRODUCTION MODEL car using STOCK OEM tires. It was also MEDIA WITNESSED AND CONFIRMED and the car was driven my famously known Racecar Driver Jan Magnussen. He also ran the ZR-1 and acheived it's blistering 7:22 time. Jan is also a GM Factory Car Driver.

same thing i was thinking, i was already impressed with the intial lap time by the gtr but then they come outta nowhere with the 7:29 and ive been skeptical since, at least the 7:38 was consistent with other track comparisons to the z06 usually beating the vette by 2or3 seconds then beating the vette at the ring by 4, seemed very possible i had to problem with that, but how the hell does the same car come back and shave 9secs off its old record, i still say somethings wrong with that picture

if you look at the acceleration curves from the road test in different car magazine sources, z06 has explosive acceleration at triple digit speeds, it pulls away from 911 turbo and the gt-r and triple speeds no problem. it just needs grip.
and for those of you that say corvette can't really handle, you know nothing about cars. some of you need to understand that just because if a car american-made and not so expensive, it doesn't mean it can't compete with the respected high end imports.

that was not the oman race though this vette is stock and never had modds. plus 442 rwhp is what my 08 z06 dynoed at 441.7 stock so that cam they put in was not doing much. plus the vette won every race they showed and they had no vid for the 3rd race that they claim the z06 lost from a dig and they said the z06 ethier buged or spun and that could be from an inexperienced driver but we will see because there are going to be tons of these videos being posted soon.

No, it wasn't stock, look at the specs at the intro. The GT-R won the first race, hence the driver change, and the one from a dig. My original point is, yes the z06 will pass the GT-R eventually, and the Oman race is not an accurate portrayal. If you're going to race against the GT-R from a dig, you better be on your game or you will get smoked. These cars are essentially even at speeds which most of us drive at 99% of the time.

so magically when htey run tests on prefactory gtrs never "broken in" they run those times but factory spec ones magically have to be broken in

GTR wasn't made for straight line racing you idiots yeah it has good top speed and acceleration but the car was made for tracks and twisty roads. We all know that the Z06 will burn the GTR in a straight line race but on the track its a different story.
