marines do this too, before you get sent to meps you pass at least one (in my case 3 because i never showed up for dep or talked to my recruiter so he decided to test me whenever i came in) then you go to meps and you get your full piss test/blood work/physical shit done.. the piss test at meps is more precise as it gets sent off for more then just 3 things it's testing for.. the blood work is for HIV and physical is eyes, ears, joints, balls, muffler.. they check it all fellas be ready

The recruiter is being honest. If you can't stay clean even for a few days you do not need the military, you need rehab. After joining the military you, your squad or whole company can be tested without any warning. Joining the military is a big deal, if you can't handle that don't sing up. If the military is the "Life" you want, then go for it.

What recruiters mean by "clean" is that the trace of alcohol finally leaves your body (which takes roughly 2 years). If the trace of the drug wears off over that period of time and you still appear healthy and well, this is enough to prove that you have overcome your addiction over drugs. And if you take drugs after signing the papers but before going to basic training, there's another drug test on the first day of training. So to me, it's not about cheating the test.

There are some appalling stories about recruiter tactics but this is certainly not one of them. The recruiters are doing the potential enlistees a massive favour – and besides, why should the Army give a shit if you’ve done drugs before in your life, as long as you’re not testing positive during enlistment and whilst in – it’s none of their business.

The way i look at it,the recruiters are just being helpful. People go into the military aware of the fact that they will be drug tested again. The recruiters are just helping them get in. There is no reason for them to lie to themselves and pretend like everyone is clean.

Thats nothing new. when I was signing up for the navy 11 years ago there was some other kid in the office who they pre screened with one of those simple tests and he had some weed in his system (i'm guessing it was weed) and the recruiters were mixing up some kind of vinegar/cranberry juice cocktail for him to drink so he could supposedly pass a test at meps later that day. I thought it was pretty fucked up

That's like the transportation company I worked for when we told the truck drivers " By the way you have a drug test in 2 weeks". They have 2 weeks to get clean. I had smoked some grass 3 days before my piss test and past. Drink lots of cranberry juice and water. My piss was so clear she thought it was water. I said smell it.

The news got it wrong. I wonder what else they got wrong. I think it makes sense to drug test them at the office. Why waste time and tax payers dollars to process someone who is going to get disqualified? I pay a lot in taxes and I am sure other tax payers out there can appreciate that.

And as an MP, I see so many NCO's paperwork that comes across my desk where they piss hot for coke, weed, etc. and the incidents happen like a month or two before they are promoted to SGT. The army creates more drug problems than anything. Hell, illegal drugs aside, how many times have you walked into an Army doctors office for slight pain in whatever limb, and been handed 90 percocet for a week. Damn drug dealin ass doctors.

the only mistake I see would be the recruiter giving the Guy a test, I wouldn't trust fuckin with some one in my team all hyped up on coke or Meth. Additionally, this isn't really "fair and unbiased reporting" when the story clearly cuts off what the Army recruiter says after saying "well, then you take it until you can", automatically giving the impression he's lying. Such bullshit.

Of course Air Force recruiters are more than happy to "screen to disqualify." They've always had their numbers up, as well as the Navy, because people are more willing to sign up for the benefits the military can offer knowing that they're probably not going to see combat. The only exception to this is the Marines, which offers pride of the service and the title as their selling points.
