I have the same pedal, it might be kind of a relic in some ways but it's not that good, unfortunately - doesn't provide as much distortion as it should on the max dist level. Nontheless, it's a very good pedal, if you're into really old school precise rock'n'roll. =)
@KalleK1989 it has plenty of distortion when plugged into the lead channel of the amp but not enough gain... I've used it on a practice amp that has 2 gain controls for OD and it's ok...could get some old school thrash sounds from it but it's whack for soloing so I think it would sound how it should when combined with an OD pedal with integrated distortion, Boss has one but I'm too lazy to look which one it is lol... MXR has better pedals except the dime one which is crap, sounds too damn muddy.
1.- Guitar->pedal->amp. In this case the gain is not so much but it's perfect for me, because I like to hear the notes with distortion, not a bunch of noise
2.- Guitar->amp [and] amp send->pedal->amp return. In this case the gain increases for a metal stile
There are other forms, but these are the basic options

The pedal is grimey, both sonically and physically! Nice demo by the way
