The song is sung in Macedonian, about a Macedonian town (Struga) and written by a Macedonian. I sung the same song in my Macedonian folklore group in 1980!
I was in this choir when they were singing it. And my sister lived in Bulgaria for over five years. She knows this song because it's a Bulgarian folk song. The director has Bulgarian friends who gave him this song in the first place.
This song is sung in both Bulgaria and Makedonia, in their slightly different dialects. Bulgarians tend to see Makedonia as a breakaway portion of their own country.
I m not here to post any offending comments. I prefer to let politicians to solve these problems. Just, dear neighbors, don't ignore the fact that you speak a language which almost the same as bulgarian. You can understand each other with no translations. This maybe allows the fact that you have some common folk songs too. It s not offending to have common songs with your neighbors. That's all. Take care.
Wowwww this is one of many great MACEDONIAN folk songs. What is bulgarian in it???

When I preformed this song it had a harder edge to it ... I don't really like this version ... too soft for my liking ... and no bass or tenor ):

Children's choirs do not have bass or tenor voices!!!!! And this is a Children's Choir.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
There is no such thing as a macedonian folk or macedonian nation, so the song is bulgarian for sure.
