  • could you explain how you were switching from the acoutic sound to the classic les paul sound to the crunch sound then to the overdrive sound?

  • @samadler97 Sure. I was using 2 instrument cables coming out of the guitar. One cable was coming from the Nanomag jack and went directly to my acoustic guitar amp. The other cable was coming from the Probucker pickups jack (I think it's called the magnetic jack) and that was going into my electric guitar pedals and amp. Without any pedals engaged you get the classic les paul clean sound. I also had a Blackstar HT Dual pedal (a 2-channel pedal) that gave me my crunch and overdrive sounds.

  • @samadler97 Oh, and I forgot to say, you just click the button or "pot" on the guitar that switches between which pickups you are using. You can either use just the Nanomag pickup (for the acoustic sound), just the magnetic pickups (for the electric sounds), or both together.

  • great video thanks for the review... it's something I've had my eye on for awhile now. So the buzz wasn't translating to the amp and it was only something you were noticing? I'd be ok with that, but not if I was buzzing through the amp as well.

  • @7DayWalk The best thing I could suggest is see if there's a store near you that has one of these in stock. Then, see if you can take it into a quiet room (very important) and test it through an amp to see what the result is. Maybe you'll get one that doesn't buzz! The buzz wasn't really noticeable through the amp - esp with crunch. I always think of the recording scenario, though. Is this something I want on a recording...?

  • Thanks for replying Steve. Let us know if the replacement is any better.

  • Nice review Steve. I'm considering buying this guitar at the moment. Can you tell me if it tends to slip out of tune please. I've heard a lot of epiphones don't stay in tune too well. Also, with regard to the buzzing, have you tried levelling / dressing the frets to remove high spots? Thanks, Paul

  • @pjdarcy Thanks for the comment. I have had no problem with it going out of tune. It has stayed in tune very well. I have not tried leveling/dressing the frets because I'm still waiting for a replacement guitar. I took it to a well-respected guitar repair guy here in Chicago and he suggested returning/exchanging it - since it was new - before spending any more money trying to fix it.

  • Another great video on an amazing guitar. These are great guitars for the price. Nice build quality, nice versatile tones, nice feel and playability. Take care of the string buzz and it would be even better. I can not believe they don't charge more for these. I love the Satin finish on the neck also! My Ultra 2 is my fav guitar now. Nice playing also. Happy holidays and stay safe.

  • @SpookeyEyeGhost Thanks for the kind words! Happy Holidays!

  • Nice !!

  • Thank you =)
