i use to think the blues was just a pattern. and that most all rock was therefore blues. but a real blues is authentic, and that's the part that stands out the most to me. i love good full sounding music. if this album was simplified in it's production it would be one of the great blues records.
zeppelin is great music. great productions. it's just depends on your definition of blues. no one fogets the stones. everyone over there got into blues. but this album has performances, like a live blues band. no production was necessary on a single solo. they shouldn't have turned a nob.
in my opinion truth is about the only english rendition of the blues to be worth a fuck. stewart could flat sing it. sorry to all the other big groups that we like. i listen to bluesbreakers and i laugh, i listen to zeppelin and i can't believe they're that full of themselves, and cream was way too psychedelic. beck and company didn't seem to be assuming anything except wanting to have a good time. there were some psychedelic aspects (loud guitar sounds mainly), but it's mostly just blues.
Also Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac were a pretty legit blues outfit. In fact, I Peter Green may be one of the seminal English blues guitarists of the 20th century.
I cant believe that everyone seems to have lost sight of Becks astounding playing in this track. Man NO ONE was doing anything like this back then and possibly now. He is an icon of the best guitarists in rock.

I do believe you're leaving out.... THE STONES.
They pretty much were the quintessential English version of the Delta Blues.
