He may be seemingly (or possibly literally) perpetually wasted, but Shane is one of my all-time favourite performers. And he *IS* my favourite lyricist, hands down.
Best I've heard him in ages. I've just been watching old Pogues clips on here and usually try not to watch newer Shane clips 'cos I've done that and seen him and it can be a bit rough at time and you fear for the man you really do. However, this was great. I am now watching it for the secong time and I love the timbre and the character of his voice. Like Dylans has aged but suits the material. Long Live Shane! Shane is THE man. One of a very few honest and true people out there in music and show business. I'm so glad that he's still there...going to see the Pogues at Brixton Academy December 19th. This man wrote some of the greatest songs I know and if you think he's a dumb and foolish alcoholic, go and read "a drink with Shane MacGowan". He might have a problem with alcohol though we only know what the press tells us and that can be far from the truth...but apart from that he is honest and pure ;)

Best I've heard him in ages. I've just been watching old Pogues clips on here and usually try not to watch newer Shane clips 'cos I've done that and seen him and it can be a bit rough at time and you fear for the man you really do. However, this was great. I am now watching it for the secong time and I love the timbre and the character of his voice. Like Dylans has aged but suits the material. Long Live Shane! Let us hope The Wire can provide substantial PR. "Fare thee well going away...".
