It brings back memories,I flew my first solo in the ASK 13 in Dublin back in !976. I still feel the glider is the most perfect flying machine. Great video, Regards Chris.
@iroquois58 Thanks for the comment! I did my first solo in this ASK-13. Glider flying is a wonderfull experience; too bad there are no glider clubs (nor a good aviation culture) here in Mexico. Someone said: If flying were the language of man, soaring would be its poetry. Take care.
No, i worked on the avionics in them but we had a german glider club on base so i could fly nearly every wknd. I had problems on my medical so by the time i was legally "allowed" to solo i had 26 hrs dual where most do it in 8 hrs.then i racked up another 20-25 hrs solo before i got shipped to the desert. After the army i checked a glider club in my area and they wanted a fortune to join, a fortune to fly, then community service, and their planes were heavy bathtub schweizers. so i passed
ASK 13; a dated design but perfect to fly. One of Schleicher's best ever gliders.
