@TheodorakisZorba I've loved it since the first time I saw it as a young boy (born & raised in Canada, btw - but with very traditional Greek parents).

You know, there are so many aspects & elements that make this film what it is. You could pick it apart & write pages of detailed psychological analysis as to the feelings, thoughts, memories & emotions that are conjured up ranging from deep pathos to joyous κέφι - and all with a mix of humour & irony, but bottom line I think the right word ...

@pgpapas ...the right word to sum up whats conveyed overall would be 'spirit'

Anthony Quinn captured that spirit perfectly, managing to bring it out of even the rigid, stoic Englishman. Its an amazing performance; with every gesture & mannerism, he IS Zorba! No small task - its hard to beleive he's not έλληνας.

This is a feel-good movie for sure, and of course the music is perfect. Right from the opening title track, the viewer gets a 'feeling' I can't quite describe.
