He has no luxury of calling time out, nor can he substitute a nother swimmer to swim for him. Basketball, baseball, and volleyball are team sports, so one gold per team is fair. Although I would love to see the slam dunk and the three-pointers contest added in to the Olympics.

Track has a lot of events, in fact two previous great Olympians came from TF. Paavo Numi of Finland, and Carl Lewis of the USA, both had 9 gold medals. Phelps can do all kind of strokes because he is that good. Most swimmers like myself train for the whole entire life just to compete in one particular stroke/distance.
