@navalwarfare If memory doesn't fail me, The Bristol Hotel was on the corner of 89th and 161st Jamaica, NY 11432.
In the early 80's all of 89th was filled with hookers day and night. One of the biggest crack dealers was Mr. White. he served across the street from the Bristol @ The Whitman Hotel. All of these Hotel's were at one time really nice hotels. The Whitman was where airline pilots and flight attendants stayed over night.
@alvaritocamanillo There are Bristol Hotels throughout the world, but they do not form a chain. The name dates to 1816. The Carter Family sang in their 1930 recording “It'll Aggravate Your Soul:" "We spent six nights in the Bristol Hotel."
161 in jamaica used to be like whores row in 1987, word up. never been in the bristol though. but maaaan, 161 was like a rap video today, ho's by the hundreds
"Her meat tastes better than Burger King".. absolute classic. In college in 1987 I was actually staying in a dorm room with room # 515. I used to blast this song all the time. I've always thought that way he talked about AIDS was a sign of the times... back then it was something that only happened to someone else or on the news so you could joke about it like he did. Not anymore.
wheres it at i kinda live in long island but my grandma live in jamaica queens and lives like 10-15 minutes away from lls grandmas house i think i jus wanna see it
This old school song is a perfect example of how perfectly rimed verses and traditional drums can create something fresh and lively. Educational material level
I couldn't agree more. Definitely LL Cool J at one of his finer hours vocabulary and lyricism-wise (although you still could tell that he had a breath control problem, if you listen closely to the way he stopped and paused between verses extremely quickly). My favorite album of his will always be "Radio," but someone already uploaded the whole thing already. Glad you enjoyed this vid!
I lived acouple of blocks away as a child, 89-29 163rd street

I used to party at the Bristol Hotel in the 70s (Jamaica, Queens, NY). There was a club and bar there that a social club rented out to throw parties.
