Ed - Chuckles has pin feathers on his head/neck and needs to be preened. They are the white pin looking feathers. Gently massage those unopened feathers between your fingers, and they will open. Chuckles will feel much better!!
@RockinFunTower Hey Rockin' Ron, Chuckles was finally calm enough and allowed me to preen her. I normally do preen her but when i tried a few days back, she was a bit nippy. What kind of bird is Poppy? Ive had Chuckles since she was about 13 weeks old. I still had to give her 2 hand feedings a day. She wasn't fully weened. She is now 12 yrs old. I got her from a private breeder in Glastonbury.
@EdzieProv Hi Ed - Poppy will be 8 in March. Like you, I've had Poppy since he was 12 weeks old and hand fed him. Poppy is a Green Cheek Conure, and quite a character! When he needs preening, he lets me know by pestering me and leaning his head into my fingers.
