  • keep dreaming folks this is just a Concept of GMs imagination with a prediction of 2011 release yeah right?

bet you the competition will be way ahead by then and this one obsolete if it ever even comes out.

like all GM electric ventures this probably end by a Wrecking ball ha ha!!

  • Batteries have been delivered and are doing good in testing. Gm .. the only car company to actually build a pure EV.

  • its not "pure EV" the specs says it has a small Internal combustion engine to charge the battery!!

Toyata RAV4 EV was released more than 5 years ago doing 100 miles per charge compared to 40miles on the Volt

  • correction RAV3 purely "EV" was released

a DECADE ago in 1997 thats 10 YEARS AGO Folks!!

  • Pure EVs are worthless to the average consumer. You have to own a second car if you want to drive more than 100 miles at one time.

  • Detroit area newspapers recently reported production of the Volt has been assigned to a plant in southeast Michigan. New lithium battery packs are being installed in test vehicles this fall (2007). They chose lithium for higher energy storage capacity and lower weight. Looks like a genuine effort to make a successful alternative energy vehicle this time.

  • You know how GM keeps saying that the battery is the problem. And all those vids that show the Volt driving around. And it makes the weirdest loudest noise. I think they can't even find good engineers to make the electric motor or put all the electric compoents together properly. Since so many people heard about the EV-1 and Cobasys NiMH battery. I bet all the good engineers wouldn't work for GM. So they ended up hiring retards to put the Volt together. Thats why it is taking so long.

  • yup its the blame the battery excuse syndrome..ha ha !!

  • Imagine, a 40 mile commute without a drop of gas-GM

I can imagine quite a bit.

How about an 80 mile commute just on lead-acid batteries.

    The GM EV-1, 1997-2001.

  • Yes, but with only room for 2 people, and no trunk space either...all batts. Big difference. And....mis-calculate your 80 and you wuz stranded! Big difference.

    Know what you're talking about.

    M.

  • By the way, the Volt is fake, GM hasn't bult the real engine yet.

  • Lithium is the next target on GM's EV assassination list.

  • I wonder if this is just a way for them to get main stream attention, without actually selling an electric car.

  • exactly. it's damage control for being caught red handed executing the EV1 in the desert. they were fucking bastards then and still are. they could have one of the many existing models out as an EV this year with no problem if they wanted to. but they don't

  • There is a question being asked to GM shareholders on Yahoo! Answers.

If you own GM stock, go to "Yahoo! Answers" and search for "GM Shareholder proposal for action vote?"

  • If GM's only source of income were from electric hybrids like the Chevy Volt, they'd be making millions of them. "Stop buying or leasing NEW gasoline powered cars". See my vids.
