  • I appreciate the commitment of the staff at FirstYork. Indeed, the company won an award for its service to the city. But there is much to be improved with FTR; a lot of it would be simple and far-reaching in customer satisfaction.

I have already sent my opinions to First and have made a video about FTR; where useful other comments were made by viewers.

In order to be fair, I labelled both criticisms AND praise in the video.

The video is called 'The FTR in York'; feel free to watch!

  • True, the comfort of the refurbished High Speed Trains is something to be desired, but walk-on fares are much too high anywhere West of England.

The FTR is in some ways a good looking vehicle and is a change, but the statement about traffic priority and smooth passings of traffic lights is far from true currently. As a regular visitor to York I have seen the Wright Streetcars stuck behind red lights on many occasions.

  • The content and quality of the video is very good; however I beg to differ on many of the statements

First Great Western passengers are completely fed up with the unacceptably high fares engineered by the Department for Transport, which is correctly judged by top railway magazines to be squeezing as much profit into the treasury as it possible (regardless of customer satisfaction).
