First of all everyone, there was never bacon on Elvis' fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Sure, on the Fool's Gold Loaf (an entirely different sandwich that he didn't eat nearly as often) there was. Second, his mom/personal cook at Graceland didn't mash up the bananas, they were merely sliced and placed onto the bread with the peanut butter smeared on the two slices of bread. The Fools Gold Sandwich is the sandwich Elvis always talked about, and made. Yes it had Bacon, when they asked the pilots who flew with him, they mentioned how they would eat these nightly. So yes, you forgot the bacon, and forgot to do some research. Either still a good veggie version.

when I saw the late 80's Letterman show with Nancy Rook, a cook/maid at Graceland, she sliced the banana lengthwise, not mashed it - and she had melted a half pound of butter in the frying pan and basically deep fried the sandwich.

Hey, Brian--it's Mark from ShopRite--it's a pretty cool video. Did you know about the other sandwich he liked? You take an entire loaf of unsliced bread, slit it on top (you might take out the insides, but I can't remember), put in a whole jar of peanut butter, put in a whole jar of jelly, and put in a whole package of cooked bacon and eat it. How does that sound?
