You can't help sympathising with the character as portrayed but in reality what little we know tells us that Lady Jane was complicit in a plot to undermine the lawful government and perhaps plunge the country into bloody cvil war. Please note that Quenn Mary was hugely popular but Lady Lane and her supporting conspirators could get virtually no support, which is why she failed to gain power.

Jule 7892 - the First Commandment actually says 'Thous Shalt Not Commit Murder.' This is not nit picking; its impossible to live in the real world and avoid killing, even if its only of an insect. Or viruses - which are living creatures too. In practice its often moral to kill. Are you suggesting that we should not hvae fought to oppose Hitler and the extermination camps? And fighting involves killing. Sad necessity.

An hour later it was time for her beheading and she bursted into tears. she asked the executioner for a quick death to be promised but the executioner said he couldn't promise it so then she cried more and off with her head! blood was every where. She reigned for nine days before Mary seized power and took over. I think she was willing not to kill Jane, and she wouldn't have if Jane had given up her Protestantism.

I think the difference is, though Saddam's Hussain's execution video was the real-thing, it's very hard to empathise with a murderer. This film is a fairly accurate (based on accounts) portrayal of the execution of an innocent and wholly abused young woman. I dissagree with execution regardless of the crime, but I will cry for Lady Jane, but not for an evil man. I wasn't harrowed by the hanging of a piece of meat that was never a real man.

Her husband was a pawn in his father's plan to put Jane on the throne (She was Henry VII Great Grandaughter) and have Guildford rule as King. Phillip of Spain wouldn't marry Mary Tudor(the Queen) unless all protestant plots were surpressed in England. The pardon that was meant to be given to Lady Jane (Queen Mary knew she was forced into the plan) never came because there was a second uprising in poor Jane's name even as she was kept in the Tower on the charge of treason.

If she ruled for 90 years she would have been over 100 when she died. I think you're thinking of Elizabeth 1 who reigned for over forty years.

poor Lady Jane, used as a pawn to further other's political and power hungry interests. she did not deserve this, nor did Dudley for that matter. if I have my history correct, which I may not she was going to go to a convent at some point in her life and wasn't considering marriage, let alone a husband like Dudley was at first. I feel so bad for her, if she had only been born to another family.

@racheladams456 she was executed by Mary Tudor for 1. taking the throne even though little Edward appointed it to her just before his death and 2. she was a protestant, not a catholic which Mary was and when Mary came to claim her throne, which by right she should have, Jane was a threat in that protestant had a figure head to rally around and that posed a threat to the catholic driven Mary.

This movie gets the way Guildfor Dudley died. According to all historic accounts I've read, he cried like a cowardly baby as he was led to the block and begged for his life. Lady Jane may not have been a true queen, but she died with all the dignity of one.

@morkelsamuel No It didn't Jane was Protestant and thus the reason she was forced onto the thrown...as the men in power back then did not want Mary Tudor to become Queen after Edward VI's death....as she was catholic..but so was Elisabeth...I think the difference was Jane could be forced to marry Guilford Dudley where as Elisabeth could not...But yes unfortunately religion did play a part in Janes death..but even still Mary was reluctant to kill her cousin
