I have an unbuilt 1/16 scale Tamiya R/C Gepard, and this video really makes me want to dig the thing out and build it. Definitely one of the coolest AFV's ever designed. And two 35mm guns with a combined rater of fire of 1100 rpm, OUCH!

A Gepard is never alone.you always have a whole group of anti-air units. They all are wired and dont even need to radar the area to get infos. any aircraft will be fucked up if locked on, cause then it is too late. A warthog needs to know where units are so they can do a run on em...try find em without info on their location. 80% wont return to home. war is not about 1on1 ladies!

Solang das LUR steht, und man ueber Datenfunk Luftlage bekommt, sendet man ja nichts, also bloss Hitze-und Radarsignatur wie jeder andere Bagger auch...wenn die Besatzung Flugziel im Betriebsablauf Optisch-Laser bekaempft, halten sich die elektronischen Gegenmassnahmen des Fliegers (so er es denn rechtzeitig mitbekommt) arg in Grenzen...Gelaende und Taeuschmassnahmen (siehe Todendorf NVA-Taeuschmaterial Sammlung) spielen auch eine Rolle...warum das WBG nie kam, weiss bloss KMW...blind am Boden..

The Tor-M1? I think the closest equivalent to that was the old Roland SAM launcher. Nowadays, the Gepard is fitted with disposable Stinger launch tubes additionally to the cannons and the Bundeswehr is using light SAM units based on the Wiesel tankette.

Those disposable Stinger launch tubes on the Gepard don't exist. KMW show them on their demonstrator, but the Bundeswehr decided not to upgrade their Gepards any more, because a) They have the Ozelot (Wiesel-Tankette) as you said and b) Gepard will be phased out 2015.
