Thank you! This was a fun segment where all the panelists were spun to max!
I've never heard of Mr. Harben until today, but he appears to be a guy who can cook up a delicious meal...and somebody who can entertain people both with the food and his talk!
Thanks for sharing this clip on Philip harben he sadly died in 1970 a fantastic cook and should have been given more credit i have his cookery books and treasure them all even though i was only six when he died i have collected his books they are hard to come by. Wish somone would post a clip of him cooking on tv in the fifties im sure their must be some clips somewhere. Much missed gone before his time.
@anddz I so agree. I am a little older than you, and I do remember very vaguely his cooking shows. He filled me, at a very young age, with appreciation of good food. He fascinated me.
At the time this was filmed, she was host and editor in chief of the daytime magazine program "Home" - I think that must be the show she's talking about...
Thanx for posting this. It is another classic example of why WML still is so entertaining. WML's production staff had a sixth sense for finding these types of contestants: interesting looks, amusing answers, unusual lines. Note that even though the panel was more or less out in space, they are still funny. A real one two three hit.
I've heard of Philip Harben before and seen his photograph, but I've never seen a clip of him performing on TV. Thanks very much for this. I found it very interesting.
Philip Harben made a great contestant. Intelligent and humorous. Answered nearly everything himself instead of John having to do it for him.

That chap who insults people on TV. He is related to Simon Cowell?

Mr. Harben seems quite witty, and a very animated type; very entertaining to watch!

Who's the American TV cook on the panel? She's the spitting image of Helen Mirren!

Her name was Arlene Francis.

Second WML after the death of Fred Allen. Garry Moore was the first of the various guests.
