@TheWiseRat22 No, it isn't even fast for what you can find these days in the market. However, for the price, and the size, is pretty good. It has a DUAL-CORE 1.6 Ghz AMD Turion processor. If you gonna play highly demanding video games or gonna use high-end 3D software (which would also require a better video card), I don't recommend it. But for everyday stuff is more than enough. I run C and fortran code on it, that solve numerical partial differential equations and for that this is fast enough.
I got it and love it, but battery last nowhere near to 11 hrs, maybe DOING NOTHING will take 11 hrs. I would say 5-6 just web-browsing, less than 4 using multimedia applications.
HD only supports 720p videos in youtube, everything beyond that gives you lag.
It's very light, nice screen, nice design, decent video card (runs Street Fighter 4 in 800x600 at low config. pretty well), very nice sound card, super-duper hard drive (320 Gigs!!! r u kidding) with shaking protection, nice RAM (4 gigs).
cons: Glossy cover that is a magnet for finger prints, touchpad pointer get crazy once in a while, and the speakers are crappy (never seen any better at this small level)
In reply to ahm1499's question which was "does the battery really last 11 hours", which was strangely removed by the author (uktoshiba)! The answer is, no it doesn't, it might last that long if you did nothing except stare at the desktop. I've found it lasts about 6 hours when using it for general web browsing. I do like the laptop though, very cool
If you plug headphones in, it's fine. But I still dislike the primary and secondary mouse buttons. I just purchased the HP Pavilion dv2, excellent notebook.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this laptop, only disappointment is the sound, speakers in it sound as if they would be ok for notebook speakers but are just way toooo quiet on max volume
Would you say that this laptop would be okay for someone that generally avoids using the mouse anyway (using keyboard shortcuts and the like) and uses headphones rather than the inbuilt speakers? (I'm assuming that's what you meant).

i have this laptop, why does it turn off without warning, and say battery low, when the battery had about 50% power left?
donnykaraoke 2 years ago
I also want to improve my low battery warning notice. I keep missing the warning and the computer shuts down in the middle of work.
I hope to find out how to enhance the warning notice.

This is a brilliant notebook, 2 bad points though :-
1) The primary and secondary mouse button(s)(the single silver bar) is rubbish.
2) The sound is terrible.
3) Mine was stolen 2 weeks after I bought it!

Awh mate, that's brutally unlucky!

@enisylo you can tweak the sound for the speakers to be louder. and in all honesty the multi-touch features are awful.
Questionssm 2 years ago
how would one go about doing that?
