  • Great video bro, I'm gonna try singing the notes! :D

  • I used Audacity around 2005 and didn't really like it, but I must say the software has improved a lot since then. Also, this may just be psychological, but it sounds like it plays my music files a lot clearer than iTunes or VLC.

  • Is it also necessary to be able to listen to a random note off of a solo and be able to say which note it is?

  • i use window media play and play it super slow and do it it works for me....

  • This might be one of the best lessons I've ever seen. If not THE best.

  • great video my friend

  • thanks man

  • Your awesome!

  • im to lazy to transcribe...a shame really, everytime i try to transcribe something a big boost in my playing happens.

  • yay I have audacity :D

  • Andrew, your the man!

  • Thanks a lot, you are a great help.

  • very nice lesson!! thnxs! man, to practice!!!

  • so ...it's trial and error....damn..thank God there's Audacity to change the tempo without changing the pitch...

  • awesome! im gonna start now!

  • at 8:30, how does he know its a B something chord? My ear is so bad that I wouldnt know if it was a D or G evern ;'(

  • @frigitar when he figured out the first 3 notes with his guitar he noticed the last one was a B

    it went D D C# B

because the chord came in on the B note and they sounded very similar, the chord is a B

  • Brilliant

  • i like your video..but is "audacity" really free?

  • @johnnynoirman yeah I've been using it for years ... it can also take intros to cds out and all kinds of cool stuff.

  • @johnnynoirman WTF!!!!???

  • @johnnynoirman Yes of course!

  • ive been playing guitar 4 months so could someone tell me how long the think till i can transrcibe good

  • @Roachamous just start trying to figure out some of your favorite artists' songs (that sound do-able right now.. nothing too ridiculous) without looking. For now just focus on the bass lines and then after that work on hearing melodies and chords. This is just how I started though; I say try what I did and see what's easiest for you to pick up!Ear Training/Interval Training programs REALLY helped me too. You can find a plethora of free ear/interval training programs online.

  • i love music and i ahve bad music ear tht kills meeee

  • Tank u!!!

  • I will wait for the other videos..

  • Andrew , Whilst your a bit of a rarity onYoutube ie someone giving lessons who understands what they are talking about -I think you have approached this the hard way -why not use program like Adobe Audition that slows down the notes without changing the pitch , highlight one or more notes , put them on a playback loop, then slide your fingers along the guitar freeboard until you find the notes

  • @ wobblingbaby2 audacity can do that as well

  • thanks, that was reaally helpful, great lesson, 5*

  • Great lesson, Andrew. I'm glad someone mentioned your channel in some other channel I visit, maybe Justin Sandercoe's. You and him are the best guitar teachers on YouTube.

  • this was very helpful, thanks for taking the time to make it. you explain the process nice and clear.

  • Best most important lesson Andrew, this should be followed with a second and third. Thank you
