Oh brilliant. You're quite good at explaining and demonstrating these stretches. I will certainly benefit from this. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
hahaha, you're hilarious, your little remarks cracked me up:') you're amazing at this, definitely going to use your tips:) ps your hair is beautiful:|
@mersylla I think it doesn't hurt her knee because she has got a carpeted floor in her room and are carpeted floor is softly so it probably doesn't hurt when you don't have a carpeted floor you can try it on your carpet if you have one okay this was only a little advice and I don't think this help so much just try it
In January, I started to stretch my legs to get the right split. I can do it since the February 13th(with warm up). However, I'm sore since 2 days. I tried it without warm up. How many time did it took you to be able to do the front split without any pain? I'm a 17 years old man. I hope I'll get the middle split.
even in the tutorial you are awesome ... WONDERFUL! More videos please! I miss the videos of "frontbends" ... from many different styles ... would be cool! sitting, lying down ... legs together or apart ... if possible, of course ... :)
I'm trying to do some of these stretches, is there anything easier I could start with? My muscles are so tense since I haven't stretched properly in years :-/
I love your videos, are you just naturally flexible, then? Or did you have to work extra hard to be like this? :) I am a male ballet dancer, and I'm not naturally flexible and have only achieved oversplits via hard work and lots of stretching, much like you demonstrate here! I'm just fascinated with the fact that people are born with this... I wish I had been.
I wouldn't say you sound "bored" - I think you were going for "professional", like one would expect from a teaching video, and for the most part I think you managed that quite well. As for sounding different, that's the case with anyone I believe. I've been on the radio for about ten years and I still don't completely recognise my own voice when I hear it.
The recorded voice sounds different because - aside from the quality of the microphone, you usually hear your own voice not through the vibrations of the air, but through the vibrations of your own bone and entrails.
When I try to sink into the straddle split like you do @ 4:23-4:29, my tensor fasciae latae muscles [*somewhere around there, but I have no exact location of the pain]... hurts and feels compressed and instead of being stretched, especially the muscles that surround my hip bone. What puzzles me is that the same place feels so uncomfortable as I do my left splits. I don't know what's going on with my body.
@fateindustry The muscles involved in doing straddle splits (adductors, tensor fasciae latae, gracilis, etc.) are generally weak because they don't get a lot of use. Going into a straddle split in the way that I did at 4:23 requires a fair amount of strength from them, and if they're not strong enough, they will hurt. As for your left split, perhaps you aren't sitting squarely or properly, so your muscles have to work hard to keep you balanced and upright.
@ailashes Yep knew it. It's just the tensor fasciae latae for me...that gives me the most tension. And yeah, I do have trouble sitting squared on my left split unlike my right split.
@ailashes So in order to do so...i might be doing these stretches wrong the whole time this whole year....Do you sit relaxed the whole time with breathing, do you compress your muscles, and do you force at all? I did all three, but none really worked out. How do you usually stretch?
@ailashes Hehe, the butterfly may be symmetrical if you have your feet further from your body. You cheat by pulling your feet all the way in, you're just way too flexible ;-)

Happy birthday Katie! :-) Seems like good tips though I'm not into splits myself :-)
I guess it's called Butterfly because your legs sort-of form the shape of a butterfly, especially if you flap them...

@bugfinder It's not particularly symmetrical though, is it? :P Still, thank you :D
