He might have felt badass, but it was a really lucky one, going furiten on turn 5 for no reason, and then drawing the last Chun (red), and one of the two remaining 1-pin himself (as he couldn't ron).
Also, he reaches in turn 15, which is really unnecessary, risking 1000 points for no added benefit.
@msolec2000 You are only on furiten if one of the tiles you are waiting for is the one that you yourself have discarded, or declare riichi but fail to ron at 1st opportunity. Even if he had discarded the nan, waiting for the 1-pin only doesn't make him furiten.
@chaseer23 Yes, I know, that, my bad. At that point he was going for the 13-sided wait, which if he had gotten it would be furiten, and I somehow thought he actually had gotten that.
@msolec2000 If he had the 13-sided wait then yeah he is on furiten as he is also waiting on "some" tiles that he discarded earlier. I encountered someone doing that furiten 13-sided wait before. :3
