People are saying this is a "stage" amp, if you use this on stage its still going to be mic'ed so it can be controlled, leveled etc, you could mic a 10watt amp for a show and it'll be as loud as the drums through the arena system, its about the tone you want, c'mon guys..use you're noggin ;)
More watts does not necessarily equal more volume. A 100W amp is not twice as loud as a 50W amp, it's only 3 decibels louder. This is only if they're the same basic type of amp. Some 50W amps will be louder than 100W amps, it all depends. People also often forget about how big of a factor speaker efficiency is. Wattage is one variable in volume capability, but it's not the overall decider.
If you turn the sound down on this video, you can still hear the amp coming in through your windows. This is insane. 600watt amp.
Companies make 100watt amps and big bands use them. As a consequence, thousands of people buy them. If the Foo Fighters or U2 or the Stones used one of these for an arena tour, they'd sell a few of them - not millions, not thousands, not hundreds.

@JgHaverty no need for that much power. With PA's as advanced as they are, there's no need to have to blast your amp into the audience. Back in the 60s and 70s when PA's weren't as good and people needed to have their amps cut to the audience 100+ watts was needed to get the sound across. Plus most people won't get their amps loud enough for the tube saturation to be heard without killing the audiences ears

i play a brand of progressive hardcore through the older bv120 in blue tolex from the early-mid 90s and the clean is all i ever need from any tube amp. i don't touch the gain channel personally, because i prefer an mxr in front of the clean channel. i'm very particular about my tone and received some high praise on my live sound. i'm not chasing the same tone every guitarist has been seeking to emulate for the past 50 years either.

@donofly I'll tell you man, I play in a Hard Rock, and a Ska band, and I run through a Crat BV120h. Lot's of people hate on Crate, but the Blue Voodoo Series was a hell of a product line. The other guys I play with run through Marshals and Mesas, and my rigs keeps up for sure. The Blue Voodoo can run with the best of them. I would encourage you to go check one out at a guitar center or something, I think you'll be surprised.
@EndeChayer3 i agree, that the blue voodoo tube amp is a great amp, i tried one out in the mid 1990's, i just don't like most of the solid state crates that i've played through, they just seem to have bad tone, and cheap parts! if crate would produce more of the BV type amps,(tube) they could stand up to marshall and mesa....

After i sold my Mesa i was using a microcube to rehearse at home and my girlfriend asked me why that cheap little amp sounded better than the expensive Mesa, all i could do was shrug my shoulders. I couldn't believe a Roland sounded better than a Mesa Boogie but it did. Hearing is believing, you don't think a Mesa sucks until you realize that it sucks

It's actually not the wattage, it's the speaker size that gives you the loudness. Regardless, the tone is garbage. Wata from Boris plays a 140 watt head and it was so loud at their show all the liquor bottles at the bar broke. Hell Godflesh play 100 Watt JCM 800 and someone went completely deaf at their first show.
This is just a scam for kids to wet their pants for.

@misspellt If you are right next to an 8000watt P.A. going full blast you are going to get hearing damage. Who knows what the case was with Godflesh, the girl could have constantly been doing this at shows until her ears finally gave up.
Also this was spoken about on the band's documentary. The bands and girl's friends both confirmed it.
Also there was no mention of broken bottles. That has to do with frequency (hence Jim Gillette from Nitro can sing at a pitch which can shatter glass).

The Godflesh story was confirmed by the band and girl's friends. Again, this could have been done over the years and her hearing eventually went at this show.
It comes down to frequency. Watts are not important, it's how many speakers there are and how powerful the P.A. is and also frequency.

@donofly I'll tell you man, I play in a Hard Rock, and a Ska band, and I run through a Crat BV120h. Lot's of people hate on Crate, but the Blue Voodoo Series was a hell of a product line. The other guys I play with run through Marshals and Mesas, and my rigs keeps up for sure. The Blue Voodoo can run with the best of them. I would encourage you to go check one out at a guitar center or something, I think you'll be surprised.

@EndeChayer3 i agree, that the blue voodoo tube amp is a great amp, i tried one out in the mid 1990's, i just don't like most of the solid state crates that i've played through, they just seem to have bad tone, and cheap parts! if crate would produce more of the BV type amps,(tube) they could stand up to marshall and mesa....

@donofly Thats very true, with the exception of the Blue Voodoo series, not much that Crate has put out has been very high quality. I've been able to get some nice sounds out of my RetroFX 2x12 crate combo, but that's really just for dicking around, haha. What sort of rig do you run through?

@donofly Hold the phone there, i have owned a Mesa, i kid you not i achieved greater tone with a Carvin 100-watt tube combo and stock-pedals. After i sold my Mesa i was using a microcube to rehearse at home and my girlfriend asked me why that cheap little amp sounded better than the expensive Mesa, all i could do was shrug my shoulders. I couldn't believe a Roland sounded better than a Mesa Boogie but it did. Hearing is believing, you don't think a Mesa sucks until you realize that it sucks

Tube amps in the 50-60 watt range can produce sound pressures of about 120 dB, which is the threshold of pain in humans. Continual exposure to sound that intense can cause permanent hearing loss after just a few minutes. This amp has ten times that wattage, meaning the maximum volume is roughly double.
tl;dr don't crank this amp. You'll regret it.
