And there's nothing wrong with critiquing an episode, especially when one does it in as thoughtful and well-written a manner as Turnajon...nobody needs to read the comments on videos, so finding them annoying is quite silly. But that's what they're for--personal opinions.

FACT: Gainax originally wanted NADIA to be a shorter series. Anno was not happy that his show was compromised by these filler episodes. He had nothing to do with them. So it's not just me. There are many others who clearly believe as I do that eps 23-34, save 30 and 31, don't even deserve to be counted as part of the canonical story. You can feel otherwise, but these episodes still disappointed me so very badly and only succeeded in hampering a brilliant show.

@CrimsonTearedAngel Well than why do you even bother reading them? If you don't agree with them, just ignore it. No one's stopping you.

But my point firmly stands that these island and Africa eps really do harm an otherwise fine show, as they are so obviously out of place with the rest of the story. They add nothing to the central plot, they ruin the characters' personalities, and they fail to bring ANYTHING valuable to the story. This ep is an exception, but even Anno disliked this part.

@FlyofFilth Yep, this is the only island episode that emerges as worthwhile. For eps. 23-29, I felt as though we weren't going ANYWHERE with the story, but this one is at least beneficial to the plot. Too bad I can't say the same thing about episodes 32-34, though. The show only really comes back at episode 35.

@toplak666 It's a miracle that anybody can find any humor in those island episodes; I was too horrified at what they did to the characters and their personalities, not to mention the terrible animation to find any entertainment value in them. There's a very good reason why even Hideaki Anno distanced himself from them as well as the Africa arc.
