Perfection!! I will never questioon GOD but I must say that I hope it was worth it. I just love this band and wish often that the plane never went down and where they would be now and what hits would we be rockin to. I am sure it was only the beginning!!! I lost my father while we were riding our Harley Davidsons and I learned after his passing that I must be greatful for the time I did get and not wine about the times I didn't get because I could have had none!! Holy shit the guitar solo part involving all three of them is epic. Love how ronnie is completely mesmerized by the slide guitar playing ability of steve gaines
@radwaygreen out of all the songs skynyrd did before the crash only 4 or 5 were covers, everything else was theirs. skynyrd didnt copy allman bros its more like allman brothers copied jimmy rodgers. this is skynyrds cover of "t for texas" by jimmy rodgers. you may ask allman where he got the sound for "one way out" he should tell you jimmy rodgers. hope this clears things up.
@dirtyirvin The original T for texas by jimmy rodgers sounded nothing like this version. It was actually more of a slow country song. Skynyrd pretty much took his words and put it to the song "one way out". Same key, same single guitar intro (different lick), same stops at the end of each progression, same swapping of leads in the solo section, same ending where the band stops and the singer has his "solo", in fact the ending lick is almost exactly the same.
I am so sick of Lynyrd Skynryd, my so called asshole of a boyfriend plays this all the time and i am sick of hearing the same group all the time. You people can trash me for my comment but i don't give a damn. Enough is enough.
One of the top 5 best bands to have ever come from the South!! The South will rise again but not how most of you expect it!!! It will be coming thru the airwaves..Southern Rock is on the come back!!! We will rise again!!!
haha, guy where are you from? You have an interesting view of Texas....ignorant, but interesting. Out of all the things you could talk smack about, you choose politicians, haha. Why don't you go play in traffic for a while.
Skynyrd was, and is the reason I still play drums. I would endlessly play the entire, " One More From The Road" album until I had every drum beat down cold!
TEXAS is the laughingstock clown state of the USA. Perry had just been shown to be a clown and liar. You can travel all through Texas and these FAKE tough guys will just shit themselves. Pendejos. They will also piss themselves and call to "Jesus" their sky daddy to protect them.
@beesleeper Your point of view on Texas is stupid, blind, and or both at best. A state like Texas should be the roll model for the other 49 states on how to have a great economy, liberty, and freedom. You are most likely a person that sits on your fat ass all day eating tortilla chips, and salsa, drinking beer while watching CNN.
I can only second that vision of Texas, what a great State that is! The Texans are the greatest people too, nothing like that good ol' Southern hospitality. But you don't mess with Texas. Ever.

@RailfanFuzz i also agree, my mom wants to move to new york, but i just dont agree, im southern born and wanna live here my whole life, and you cant trust anybody up, my sister got screwed over by a realtor and an owner in new york, we lost 500 dollars and when we came back down to miami, they wanted us to come and get it, in the south you can make a deal from a handshake and go to court on that, and that s where my mom wants to move my family

@MrGrahambongo, Thats Awesome, what piece of music history you were part of, and yes the stage did look funny to me aswell, but you are right, it does kinda sorta, sorta kinda look like the rolling Stones logo...LOL. was always wondering why it looked that way..lol.
My favorite band without a doubt. Very sad what happened in 77’ R.I.P to RVZ, Steve Gaines, and Cassie......And R.I.P also to Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, and Billy Powell......LONG LIVE SKYNYRD!
Wow, quite an accomplisment, knowing about all the folk that live in the New England states. Come on brother, we don't need no stinkin's racists; or badges! I don't care if they're keeping it to themselves or openly racist I don't want to hear and I don't want to see the facial expression of the one's trying to hide it! The guitar work in this tune is amazing and Ronnie knows it, I love the way he digs on all the guitar solos, 3 guitar players and they never got in each others way - musically speaking.
Great stuff from one of my all time favourite bands!
Gotta comment though that whoever edited the footage needed a boot up the backside. I mean surely they could have got the camera on the right guitar player more then just a few times?
Ed and Barb your 1967 camaro was never as fast as mine!!! lol. Love those days you and me I remember flying down I 95 with our head lights off , Super Tuners cranked up..1977 Auguta Maine
at 4:36 ronnie so proud of his oakie , that boy was jammin! Steve gaines , Gary Rossington , and Allen Collins - all amazing guitarists listen to them all trade off jam sessions on this song lol
@MrFishtaco567 that isnt just lynyrd skynyrd's gear, they only used peavey, alot of the gear shown on the stage is from other bands playing the knebworth concert that day like the stones
Was there in 1976 with my favorite girl Leslie Whitlock - was a great day and very hot - Skynyrd were by far the best - no other group came close on even a single song - Skynyrd were tight musically and every one was talented - they combined in a unique way that was sunsequently coped by so many others. That concert was best ever and I have seen 100s live - the world will never forget Skynyrd. Good job 92586tony for uploading.
there will never be a band so tight as Skynyrd was in those days, From recording to live they Are by the best band that you ever saw. I believe this is by far the best song they ever played !
@captjack2112 The irony is that Leonard Skinner considered the various students who became part of Lynyrd Skynyrd lazy, irresponsible, shiftless and lacking dedication. And then they became one of the most disciplined. well-practiced, dedicated rock 'n roll bands in history.
Greatest band ever, this event is part of the proof. The south dont have to rise again, it lives in the hearts of every man woman and child on earth that has a soul.
why not just enjoy the music... History lessons, black and white, politics, hatred.. what a waste of time and energy... Skynrd jam hard.... end of discussion...
Slavery was a minute part of it. Go to school and learn something before you call names. You proved that you are a brainwashed liberal. SDo you believe all the lies told to you?
just so we all on the same page about the "rebel flag".. that was MCA's publicity prop ... Ronnie said he didn't want to be known as "a southern rock band".. he called his music.. "the common man's music"... that was his words in a interview..
I wish I had been there. You wonder how many of the audience knew them before they performed on that day and how many of them became loyal fans afterwards
I mean you can't deny how well they performed on that day and thier songs fit the day perfectly. I dont think the audience came there to be put to sleep with slow weepy love songs. I think Rock and Roll and partying was on thier minds.
Lynyrd Skynyrd deliverd the goods and they performed near perfectly. The music was clear and precise.
Country at its best. This sort of music i could listen to all day.Ditto David Allan Coe,Merle Haggard,Johnny Cash,Waylon Jennings,Steve Earle and Lucinda Williams etc.
Ronnie Van Zant, Now THAT is a man... He commands that stage like a lion at the head of his pride, that is his band... He's not even a big dude, but boy there was an intensity behind his eyes that you just don't see any more... HE'S the reason that band were...
Skynyrd weren't racists... they are SOUTHERN BOYS, and like it or not...historically it's a heritage. You damned yankees can get off your high horse, but ya sure can't change history
Steve Gaines was just coming into his own as a songwriter when that plane crashed in October 1977 (check out "I Know a Little" for a sample of his abilities). I wonder what great music was ahead for the Skynyrd band? Go with God Steve, Ronnie and Cassie.
RVZ was a wise and conscience man..totally committed to being what he was,a legitimate soul singer, and the farthest thing from being dumb enough to consider race issues..A real man.
Knebworth Fair, 1976 England, Rolling Stones are the headliners, Lynyrd Skynyrd blows them off the stage. 250,000 people in the middle of an English drought, no OD's noone hurt, one of the greatest concerts in Rock"n"Roll History in my opinion, just watch Gary, Allen Steve, play those Guitars, watch Leon rock teh hell outta that bass, Artie on drums,Billy boy on the piano, and of course Ronnie stalking the stage watching his friends and bandmates the way only Ronnie can do I love you guys.
@acdc197469 I went to this concert and never realised it was filmed. Lynayrd Skynyrd was the best act to appear during a really hot day. There was a huge jam on the A1 of 10,000's of people and vehicles from London. We ended up in the field to the left of the sound desk - the funny looking tent in the video. The stage set looked really strange and was supposed to be modelled on the Rolling Stones logo; it didn’t look any thing like it.
bobbyozb is right. L.S. was not racist. They were proud of their ancestors that fought in the Civil War and that's their right. Get over it sensitive libs for once!!
What can compare, NOTHING that is what, 750,000 people at one show,, that is how many they play for now a days in 4 seasons of four years of entire tours, 15 shows maybe with 10K per, 150K per tour, think ronnie didnt have it goin on, think again, average show 10-13K could you even get a liability rider for a 750K show now days?
This is my all time favorite song by the best group to walk the planet.Just look at the enjoyment they get during the show and the way he looks at Steve!

Was there in 1976 with my favorite girl Leslie Whitlock - was a great day and very hot - Skynyrd were by far the best - no other group came close on even a single song - Skynyrd were tight musically and every one was talented - they combined in a unique way that was sunsequently coped by so many others. That concert was best ever and I have seen 100s live - the world will never forget Skynyrd. Good job 92586tony for uploading.

there will never be a band so tight as Skynyrd was in those days, From recording to live they Are by the best band that you ever saw. I believe this is by far the best song they ever played !
captjack2112 8 months ago
@captjack2112 The irony is that Leonard Skinner considered the various students who became part of Lynyrd Skynyrd lazy, irresponsible, shiftless and lacking dedication. And then they became one of the most disciplined. well-practiced, dedicated rock 'n roll bands in history.

One of the greatest bands of all time! The camera people sucked. Every solo that happens they show people in teh crowd instead of whoever was soloing

why not just enjoy the music... History lessons, black and white, politics, hatred.. what a waste of time and energy... Skynrd jam hard.... end of discussion...

Slavery was a minute part of it. Go to school and learn something before you call names. You proved that you are a brainwashed liberal. SDo you believe all the lies told to you?
corelliantrader007 9 months ago
just so we all on the same page about the "rebel flag".. that was MCA's publicity prop ... Ronnie said he didn't want to be known as "a southern rock band".. he called his music.. "the common man's music"... that was his words in a interview..

GREATEST SOUTHERN ROCK BAND IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC!!! Skynard is LEGEND!!!
CFSW 9 months ago
I wish I had been there. You wonder how many of the audience knew them before they performed on that day and how many of them became loyal fans afterwards
I mean you can't deny how well they performed on that day and thier songs fit the day perfectly. I dont think the audience came there to be put to sleep with slow weepy love songs. I think Rock and Roll and partying was on thier minds.
Lynyrd Skynyrd deliverd the goods and they performed near perfectly. The music was clear and precise.

Ronnie Van Zant, Now THAT is a man... He commands that stage like a lion at the head of his pride, that is his band... He's not even a big dude, but boy there was an intensity behind his eyes that you just don't see any more... HE'S the reason that band were...

Steve Gaines was just coming into his own as a songwriter when that plane crashed in October 1977 (check out "I Know a Little" for a sample of his abilities). I wonder what great music was ahead for the Skynyrd band? Go with God Steve, Ronnie and Cassie.

@acdc197469 Stones were 4 years past their prime and Skynyrd was at the top of their game. What a show that must've been.
jabbyjabocs 6 months ago
@acdc197469 I went to this concert and never realised it was filmed. Lynayrd Skynyrd was the best act to appear during a really hot day. There was a huge jam on the A1 of 10,000's of people and vehicles from London. We ended up in the field to the left of the sound desk - the funny looking tent in the video. The stage set looked really strange and was supposed to be modelled on the Rolling Stones logo; it didn’t look any thing like it.
