  • Good compilation, but, Scritti Politti were NOT a one hit wonder lol, nor was Nik Kershaw, The Riddle, I Won't Let The Sun Go Down on Me, Don Qio or however you spell that last one lol, nor was Swing Out Sister, but still a damn good compilation, thanks for sharing, forgot about some of these

  • The Church-I think not a one hit wonder,

  • 80s music videos - when the reach consistently exceeded the grasp.

  • the best decade for music

  • Cant wait till 2080 :)

  • scritti politti 1 hit wonder? maybe a 1 album wonder.

  • I loved the 80's.

    Amazing era.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • @GeorgeVreelandHill SO DO I the 80`s was a good time:the eurythmics

  • swing out Sister had at least two hits Breakout and Twilight world

  • Michael Penn (RIP) is Ninties ....

  • @DJRoxi - I think as far as the RIP, you are thinking his brother Chris Penn who past away a few years ago. Michael's album "March" was released in 1989 and so was the single for "No Myth". However it really didn't pick up momentum until early 1990.

  • Swing Out Sister also had Am I The Same Girl

  • The Church; Under the Milkyway was a great song!!

  • @Damfriek

Most one hit wonders tend to chart elsewhere, especially if the elsewhere is a country they are from. Ah-ha continued to chart in England where they hail from. Nena of 99 luft balloons continued to chart in Germany her home. One hit wonders are determined as such only in the countries where they only charted. So while many one hit wonders chart elsewhere they only chart once in the county calling them one hit wonders. Some exceptions Kajagoogoo & Musical Youth.

  • @rebelpoettl This is very true!! Spent most of my life in Europe and some of the coolest songs from Europe don't even make it to the U.S. sad..

  • @rebelpoettl While you're correct on most of this, A-HA came from Norway, not England. But, I did catch what you were saying because they continued having hits elsewhere, like most on this list. :)

  • Love shine a light is another song by Katrina and the Waves. So maybe a one hit wonder in the 80's but not overall.

    Break out followed by Surrender

  • @Damfriek Break out followed are two hits in 1987 from the Swing out sister. Should be reaction on isapwnsj00

  • Love shine a light is another song by Katrina and the Waves. So maybe a one hit wonder in the 80's but not overall.

  • oh come on!! swing out sister?! awww... i thought they had more hits! anyway, nice selection!

  • 8675309/Jenny - Tommy Tutone?

  • I dunno....quite a few of them had more than one hit....

  • OMG how can anyone call One night in Bangkok a one hit wonder.... Are you crazy CHESS is on of the mopst popular musicals ever made. And murray head was Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar

  • Haircut 100 was not a one hit wonder. their debut albums was entirely composed of great songs. It was trouble within the band that cut them short.

  • At least in the 80s, the video matched the audio. The digital age has issues.

  • I'm walkin' on sunshine? That's it? Nothing after that? I should be a song writer. Honest, I can do better than this. Seriously, don't we all have some songs inside trying to get out?

  • Haircut 100 had 2 or 3 hits, I know I had their album, yes I was that one haha x

  • TACO IS A BADASS....EVIL DUDE

  • What's your definition of one hit wonders? Nik Kirshaw and Swing Out Sister were definitely NOT though.

  • I loved the 80's!!!! It's a shame how today is

  • i was young when "putting on the ritz " came out and it scared me

  • Taco was DEFINIETLY a one hit wonder

  • @albinoclone TACO is actually a worldwide sensation....google him. I was really suprised at how much he accomplished and how talented he is.

  • I never thought that I would be hold enough to listen to the "old" musc but this is my stuff..

  • I had forgotten about a lot of these songs, but I remember them as soon as I hear a few notes.

    The class of 1984.

  • Katrina & the Waves had another hit, "Do You Want Crying" (peaked at #37)

  • i wish i was a teenager during the '70s and 80's when music was good but i was born in the '90s

  • swing out sister had another hit,"twilight world",peaking at #32

  • nu shooz actually had another hit-"point of no return" peaked at #28-in addition to the #3 "I can't wait"

  • ¿Peter Schilling? HMMMM !!!!!!

  • 15. Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians - What I Am

  • 1. Haircut 100 - Love Plus One 2. Katrina & The Waves - Walking On Sunshine 3. Michael Penn - No Myth 4. Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait 5. Peter Schilling - Major Tom 6. Scritti Politti - Perfect Way 7. Stacey Q - Two Of Hearts 8. Taco - Puttin' On The Ritz 9. The Church - Under The Milky Way 10. Murray Head - One Night In Bangkok 11. Nik Kershaw - Wouldn't It Be Good 12. Sly Fox - Let's Go All The Way 13. Swing Out Sister - Breakout 14. Buster Pointdexter - Hot Hot Hot
  • The 80's is nothing but a good time! An era of great musics!

  • So you think that Haircut 100, Katrina & The Waves, Scritti Politti, Nik Kershaw and Swing Out Sister were one hit wonders??? Seriously do some more research!!.....

  • @lunatunes77 so true :)

  • Brilliant memories of a decade that was nothing but tons of fun. Thanks for the vid!

  • nice job here

  • Nik Kershaw is 1 Hit Wonder? Really?

    1984 The Riddle

    1985 Wide Boy

  • I like quite a lot of the early 90's dance music etc but from about 95 onwards it all started sounding the same to me lol!

  • I think you'll find that most of these weren't actually 'one hit wonders'

  • @shersher78

But these songs are still awesome, though

  • @The235528 I totally agree with u, but it's just annoying when people say that they're 'One hit Wonders' when they actually weren't. There were more one hit wonders in the 90's than there were in the 80's for example Dr. Albarn ;0)

  • @shersher78

Do you really like 90s music?

  • @The235528 I did like the early to mid 90's but then by '95 it all started 2 so

    und the same :0(

  • @shersher78

    yeah, i guess it did.

have you heard of genesis or ace of base? they were really popular in the 90s

  • @The235528 Can't say I was a fan of either group really. There were about 3 genesis songs I liked (not sure of your age but Genesis were around in the 80's & originally, Peter Gabrielle was the lead singer, not Phil Collins) and I found Ace of Base a bit cheesey, but I must admit, I did sing along 2 their stuff, just very quietly ;0) I try not to admit to liking any Euro pop if I can help it lol!

  • @The235528 Genesis were around in the 70's (gotta be careful now, I'm showing my age lol!) and although I didn't mind them (or Ace Of Base 4 that matter) I wasn't really a fan

  • im only 11 and i love the 80s

  • @TheKamari420

    I'm 17 and I loved 80s when i was 7.

How about the 60s? Theyre pretty good.

  • what is the name of all the songs

  • I don't know what's sadder: that this awesome age of real music is gone forever, or that these young morons today just thumb their noses at it while listening to their crappy gangsta rap and teeny-bopper idiots.

  • swing out sister 3 top 30 hits also so this is just oure rubbish oh well stup americans they so stupid

  • your an idiot hair cut had 5 tio 5 hits in the uk and nick heywood went on to have 3 more top 20 slo hits do your homework dumbo

  • uummm nik kershaw had at least 2 other hits, The Riddle and I wont let the sun go down on me. nu shooz too had other hits.

on the other hand this was a video i enjoyed a lot!

  • @RiddleRiddle1000 : enough to remind First Aid concert, there was many artists treated today as "one hit wonders"

to be honest I threat like that most of recent pop stars :-)

  • hey chairman....it's called "Da Da Da" by Trio

  • nick kershaw one hit wonder, no way you were around in the 80s i was in my 20s he had so many hits

  • I work at Old Navy in the mall, and there was this song that came on, I was wondering the name of it, sounds very 80's, very cheerful,it's gonna torture me til I figure out the name of it, lol. Ok, here it goes, da, da-da-da-daaaa, da-da, so right, that's all I can give you on it, lol. Anybody? Anybody? Beuler? Beuler?

  • @chairmanofthebored1 Which Old Navy do you work at?

  • @jess4metoo Here in New York, I wish I could figure out that tune name.

  • Didn't Nu Shooz have three hits? Point of No Return was another and I can't remember the other one.

  • @jess4metoo I think you are refering to Expose; taking me, to the point of no return, that right?

  • @chairmanofthebored1 Yes! Expose did have a song by that name as well, but so did Nu Shooz. They're both on YouTube.

  • @jess4metoo Oh, ok. I may have to give that one a listening to as well.

  • I Eat Cannibals by Total Coelo should've been included also. The 80's were amazing, the last good decade of real music.

  • who ever made this video needs to sack their researcher 50% of these artists weren't one hit wonders.

  • The Church shouldn't be include - they weren't 1 hit wonders!

  • hey but Peter Shilling had another hit in the 80's! ADifferent story or something of the sort.... hahahaha

  • actually Haircut 100 had a number of hits so not sure why they have been included here. I actually saw them live once! lol

  • Ahm for starters, Haircut 100 had 5 top 40 UK hits!!

  • Michael Penn is amazing, his music is fantastic.

  • Cheryl Crow brought Walkin on sunshine back though.

  • Swing Out Sister also had another hit, "Am I The Same Girl" so technically they are not a "One Hit Wonder". And I absolutely HATED that song by Edie Brickell!! Nice compilation though.

  • Comment removed

  • "Major Tom". It was written in response to the David Bowie hit "Space Oddity"

  • Back in the the 80's I thought puttin on the Ritz was a "new song" I was surpised to see it in a Fred astair movie from 30's it fit well also with fred singing it, Great song.

  • Wow!

Never knew Peter Schilling had an english version out there!

Heard puttin on the ritz used in a commercial recently, different version though.

    Sly fox... remember that well.

    Very relevant for 2009!

(Edie Brickell's marriage to Paul Simon didnt do too much for her career)

A bunch of great videos. Thanks.

  • and the titles? :S I vote Poor for this!

  • thanks, Scritti Politti had another bigger hit "...don't dream of lover boy..."

  • scritti politti's biggest hit was woodbees (i pray to Aretha Franklin)

  • Yeah, it's "Oh Patti".

  • cool sean penn , i still listen to this . scritti politti never get a word out of what he was saying. taco.....was there a burrito too? eddie brickel ...shes more like 90s isnt she

  • that was michael penn, not sean, he's sean's brother

  • youre right , i tried to erase the message but it was too late when i realized. thax anyway

  • Eddie Brickell is 1-3 years after Suzanne Vega open the doors to singers like her. Thus should still be in the 80s. Of that genre, theres also Tanita Tikram

  • haircut 100 had a few hits in the eigthies

  • Nik Kershaw wasn't a 1 hit wonder

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the song at 2:25?Ive had this song in my head for a while and don't know what to look up!

  • It's called "Major Tom" by Peter Schilling

  • Yep......It's Major Tom

  • actually it's called "coming home" Major Tom)

  • There were alot of songs i new. what happen to them?

  • Isnt Peter Schilling a chick now, he removed his member.

  • yeah and you have it hehehe

  • PETER SCHILING MAJOR TOM!!! WOO!! haha love that song

  • Haircut 100 were hardly one hit wonders

  • They were in America and Love plus one was it.

  • Ahh, america, say no more...

  • nor were scritti politti.....stupid fat yanks

  • I'm a big fan of The Church and they certainly weren't a one hit wonder to me. If you like the song in this video, Under the Milky Way, then check out the entire album. It is from the Starfish album. The whole album is great.

  • I miss the 80's so much.

  • I also, I wish I was my age now then!!! now a days the world's just depressing!!

  • believe me, i was a teenager in the 80's :

    world was also then depressing.

....but not always....just as it is today.

    it's just a state o mind ; cheer up :-)

  • @stampeeded

    so very

  • Buster Pointexter was once the New York Dolls, right?

  • @stampeeded

lol ahmen. The 80's was a much more colorful, funky, care free, creative and fun place to live in. I still have some amazing memories from 88 and 89. XD Very early 90's were great too!
