  • I get that they are a christian band but this song has absolutely NOTHING to do with christianity and more towards oppression and the fight for your right to be free no matter what the cost. If you believe in the marxist/communist ideas and understandings then this music video/song will make ALOT more sense to you then the idea that its about God or jesus or the Bible. Their Biography states that they r all Majors in Sociology/History and have beliefs in Communism ideas.

  • thumbs up if ur a christian and uyou believe in god

  • @5clockwerk i belive, but i'm don't belong any religion, does that count?:/

  • @unholyGothyx believe*

  • dang im used to this song all calm and acoustic like with calm vocals... now this is up my alley!

  • Thank you for posting this here so I don't have to watch it with VEVO.

  • 240p Doesn't matter, it about the music!!

  • the title of this song is very contradicting.

  • @101NightKnight

It's almost as if the title was contradicting on purpose! :O

You should win a Nobel Prize for your amazing discovery!

  • this video reminds me of what was happening in Germany with the Nazis coming to the homes and taking Jews away to death camps.

  • tony hawks american wasteland!!!

  • Want the latest news on Thrice? Follow my twitter account, '@allnewsmetal', for the latest updates on all metal and punk music around the world!

  • By far the best video ever made!!! Also has a good story to it!! Thumbs up if you agree!!!

  • @AnonymousAndFriends

Ya ruin PSN, Take Peoples Money, and all while this song is playing. . . . don't ruin the song for me

  • people really?! It doesn't matter what religion these people are... I'm an atheist but im not anti-anyone I'm just listenin to a good song....

  • Anonymous theme song.

    xD

  • wow. third echelon making an appearance

  • Oh and they are NOT a christian rock band. They are a rock band, learn2google.

  • @brandnewbysink They're a rock band that draw a large portion of their lyrics from the bible. I'm a huge fucking athiest, and I've come to terms with the strong under-tones of christianity throughout their songs.

PS: If anyone is wondering, the song that plays before Image of the Invisible is "Like Moths to Flame", which is another track on Vheissu.

  • @Alio15 Thrice is a Christian band?

  • @AZNboi10921 they aren't "officially Christian" just a few members are. Also alot of their songs are based off of scripture.

  • Please Cory and 988, stop talking. Your text on this page only takes up space, both in peoples' heads and on this webpage, which is a medium for much better things. I'd also like to dispel rumors that Dustin Kensrue (vox/lyricist) quotes the bible. He paraphrases, and not every member in the band is christian. I'd like to close by saying that I appreciate those of you who have kept your Hippocampusi active while listening to this song, unlike 988, whose 2-month-old comment is total rubbish.

  • @brandnewbysink the fact that so many people pick up on the obvious bible references throughout Thrice' song lyrics is NOT a coincidence and is clear evidence that our "Hippocampus" (woo! Big word!) is indeed very active. If you weren't such an arrogant douche you would probably realize this, and not speak for the band by telling everyone what it is they did or did not intend their message to be. I've heard them say at their shows that they get a lot of inspiration for their songs from The Bible

  • Dude, these guys are a lot like Alexisonfire. Changing from screaming to very little screaming over time, etc, etc. I like them. Glad I found out about thrice.

  • To be fair it has been predicted religion will go extinct in the major west european countries. I believe in science but I believe people should have freedom to believe in what they want whether I disagree with it or not. Unfortunately these religions (mainly catholics and christianity) feel the need to try and convert me. No. Just No.

A very good band nonetheless :D

  • Christ - missing = people telling people to shut the f*** up

take it for what it is....

matthew 22:39 Love thy neighbor as yourself

remember those are the RED LETTERS n yes Christians im talkin to you too

  • @PunkxCherub - All the Alchemy Index's of Thrice are mellow except Fire. If you want something more intense with screaming and such check out Artist in the Ambulance for sure and the Fire Alchemy Index! =]

  • If i like the less screaming thrice better, then which album should i get first?

  • @PunkxCherub Artist in the Ambulance is a great start.

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT RELIGION. THIS IS MUSIC. NOT RELIGION.

  • @shapiroknowsbest Music is my religion.

  • Why is it that everybody always gives christians a hard time. Why dont you go bother some budists or muslims? Or do you not consider them a viable religion, and therefore, not worth wasting your time on?

  • Were more than carbon and chemicals? ROFL such bull shit WE ARE BIOLOGICAL BEINGS THAT IT.... THER NO MAGIC FAIRY NO DEMONS !!! SO STOP TALKING TO YOURSELF AT NIGHT !!!

  • @UnderDog988 fuck off, tough guy. no one cares what you think.

  • @ohcalcutta81 tought guy lol? yea your right people would rather heared about a buch of mystical noneless. How about you suck my dick you useless douche bag.

  • Jesus saves............ all the hookers for his self.... bwahaha

  • Jesus saves............ all the hookers for his self.... bwahaha

  • is this song supposed to represent unseen heroes?

  • @sonicfast17 I'm not really sure if it is, but this is what I get from the video. I think it's about Invisible Children. Because once in thier live performance he was wearing a shirt that said "Invisible Children"

Invisible Children are kids who get taken by a group (can't remember the name) of African soldiers that come into small villages in Africa and kill people and steal the kids. They turn the kids into soldiers, force them to kill each other, and put them through horrible brutal stuff.

  • @AddemRector It's one of their supported causes, but this song is really deep from all aspects. Hell, Dustin got the phrase "Image Of The Invisible" thinking about Splinter-Cell.

  • Thrice has done their job. They aren't a band that screams for God per se even tho some of their stuff comes str8 out of the Bible. They intentionally quote from CS Lewis about what Lewis called "sneaking around the dragon". Basically writing Biblical ideas in ways that ppl won't jump at immediately and be like "that's out of the Bible" (with whatever judgements may come after that). May the very fact that you think they aren't a Christian band be a seed to brighter days in ur future. God Bless

  • i didn't even knew they were Christian, if they are, at least now "Stare at the sun" makes more sense to me and it's not like it made any difference on how awesome they are.

    :)

  • they're not a christian rock band. im a athiest and i couldn't care either way good music is good music. its just other medias can quote the bible and not be lumped into a religious sect. but not music for some reason.....

  • 97 of you are going to, and always will be, invisible!! Hi hooo!

  • I miss IMF so much.

  • My Christian anthem! I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • @downtoawhisper

    Christian anthem....?

    Seriously....?

  • @YassouDylan

Yea....this is actually a Christian song. As are many of their other songs. Have you listened to Like Moths to Flame, The Messenger, Of Dust of Nations, or The Earth will Shake? There are more I could list, but I'll stop here.

  • @downtoawhisper Hold Fast Hope is pretty much Jonah Copy & Pasted :D

  • @Graeme3uc

Yes, I know it is :)

  • @YassouDylan yabro. this song has obvious Christian undertones

  • @YassouDylan yeah plus why then at 4:15 would they camera zoom in on cross on his bracelet. I cant think of any other reason that would seem significant

  • Check out Hateface-Vlad

  • I love the beginning music to this, then it changes over and I'm over it too.

  • WOOT!!! one million views!

  • I don't know why Thrice doesn't have this video listed for sale in their iTunes music video catalog.

  • Muse and Thrice sound amazing live unlike other bands *cough*Dragonforce*cough*

  • 96 people got suck in the piano.

  • i love how it says "imf" in the corner!!! the international music feed!!! good times.

  • The little girl is that girl of desperate house wives rachel G Fox

  • Teppei to the rescue!

  • Reminds me of half life 2

  • whent to there concert in the Amsterdam Yesterday they where Amazing!!! XD

  • TEPPEI FTW!!! :D

  • Thrice at Area4-Festival, Germany, Lüdinghausen: awesome! Their sound rocks!

    Thumb up!

  • I watch this every day! Maybe 5+ times a day. This video needs a million views! SO CLOSE!

    Come on Thrice fans!

  • lol, teppei always saves the day! :P

  • @IfWordsCouldSpeak yea, i read somewhere that he's a ninja o.O... the internet said so, so it must be true >.<

  • @ZoltanoCortez well its pretty obvious in this video that he clearly IS a ninja, so yeah, i'd believe it.

He's quite the ninja on the guitar anyways :D

  • Going to see them TOMORROWWWWW

  • just saw them in new york cityyyyy !!!!

  • thrice has awesome music videos

  • "so raise the banner bend back your bows!" love it <3

  • awesome

  • the only thing is that "children of god" are not invisible and are very heard.

  • I hate when people are like "it's open to your interpretation" and "you can think whatever you think this song is about" because truth is you can't, and it shouldn't be open for interpretation when a song is so clearly about something. This song is about the children of God, and anyone who says something else is just downright WRONG.

  • @TSmity2 the flaw in your logic is the fact that you are basically saying that the artists intent for the song has to be the interpretation that everybody takes out of the song, clearly if the music video was able to be about something totally different, then obviously it can have many different meanings. I mean, obviously dustins lyrics were written with that purpose in mind, but that doesn't mean that i can't take it to have a personal meaning of my own, don't be such a close minded asshole.

  • @MasterDebator809 It's not close minded. I'm not open to other ideas of what it COULD mean, I'm open to what it DOES mean, and it's about the children of God. And the music video actually has everything to do with that.

  • @MasterDebator809 What you say makes sense. Often the author doesn't even know what he means too. He's inspired to write certain combinations of words to make a point. Often, as is the case with poetry, those words can allude to many things as you aptly pointed out. Metaphorically, those words can be colored with the psychology of the author that even he is unaware. Therefore, if TSmity2 states emphatically that he 'knows' what the song means just proves how unreliable his opinion really is.

  • @metaspherz

    Hahahahaha.

"Often the author doesn't know what he means."

Well, perhaps we should stop believing that all philosophy is valid and throw away every concept that we've derived from it? After all, are philosophers not authors of ideas? Why should we give any significance to art if the "author" (artist) has not a clue what it means, he is just making it. One of the reasons art is inherently valuable is because it is one persons tangible interpretation of something that is intangible.

  • @TSmity2 So, the way you hear the lyrics isn't based upon your own perceptions or interpretation? Your arguement is fallacious. You need to look up the words truth & interpretation. Then determine the validity of your premise. Truth is NOT written in stone. Your reasoning is flawed. Even if the author agrees with you, his words are open to interpretation.

Why? Truths are filtered through the beholder's mind. "The only absolute truth is that there is no such thing as an absolute truth."

  • @metaspherz Your idea on truth is actually flawed. In some cases, such as in what's the best flavor of ice cream, truth is subjective to the person. But that's not the case in what something is saying or meaning. It should mean nothing else than what the message coming across. This song is talking about the children of God, period. That's the objective truth. There is no "my truth" or "your truth", there is only truth.

  • @TSmity2

...awesome, sorry... just glad to God for someone else who knows how to defend the faith by the knowledge of Truth. God Bless you and stay strong for the faith!

  • @droptozro Thanks man!

  • this song is sooooo baaaad aaassssss live!!!! i was front and center for it and felt like i was basically in this video yelling back at 0:55

  • @kmcgill794 Haha yeah same here, i just saw them live last tuesday i think. Where did u see em live? i saw em in salt lake city

  • @MasterDebator809 i saw them in salt lake city too! was front and center. caught dustins pick

  • @kmcgill794 dude! i think i high fived you or said something to you when u caught it! was it at the very end of the show? Cause i remember i said something to the person who caught the last pick. But yeah i was right up front and center probably right next to u, lol

  • @MasterDebator809 hahah it was way funny, i think you did give me a high five. everybody was like who caught it, where did it go and there were like 5 people behind looking all over the ground for it.

  • why is there 20 second of another thrice song at the start/

  • Take a deep breath, all you rebellious youth, if you believe that you were created by an invisible being rather than billions of years of evolution then you have the right to be wrong. Simple.

While neither science nor creationism can convince the other beyond a shadow of a doubt I'll pick science because it relies more on evidence & facts than speculation and wishful thinking. More harm than good has been done to humanity in the name of religion. No song despite its intensity can change that.

  • @metaspherz so you're saying you've seen a monkey turn into a human. cool story

  • @penguinomg Jesus appears to me daily. We've conversed for over 50 years. He guides me as I service the needy. He confirms that I'm one of the chosen & that I must follow his wishes despite legal & social conflicts. In HIs name I witness. My congregation says, "Amen," as I quote scripture. I hear their confessions. Many are saved by His blood.

If millions believe in me, whom among you can prove that I'm NOT delusional? Enough believers can change the world! That's how religion works.

  • @metaspherz sounds like you're a bit schizophrenic bro.

  • @penguinomg umm.... did he not say.. billions of years! or what?

  • @korable i'm just saying... it's not a fact unless you've seen it happen.

  • @penguinomg

even then, just because you've seen something--doesn't make it a fact. I know you aren't defending the view he had, but think about it this way... can someone prove their eyes are working properly? Many people even saw Jesus do miracles--but refused to believe. Just a thought.

  • thrice is 1 of da best man woohoo nice job man

  • thrice is amazinggggg live too, i think they're better live than on their album.

  • is the into part of the song?? if its not whats the name of the intro or song?

  • @georgemacias : Thrice - Like Moths to Flame

  • @thejoamiq Colossians 1:15 "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation..."

  • Comment removed

  • @thejoamiq Though all the world may hate us, we are named

The shadow overtake us, we are known. Are invisible children hated by the world?

  • this is the best muic video ever

  • Comment removed

  • solo es un estupido video mas de los americanos... no tiene logica el video, al final muestra una imagen ya muy repetida de los norteamericanos xD

  • i LOVEEEE thrice!!

  • noob my balls

  • Just so you know "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." He is with you always. YOU(we) are never alone :)

  • @Margie001kool I say it could be diffrent then it looks from first sight the invisible God could also be a negativ thing in a they rule the world way thats what the video tells me.

  • @hollywoodraptor0016 I think you have it backwards. He's saying that the group he's with are the image of the invisible, fighting the others. "We are the image of the invisible" not "We're being killed by the invisible"

  • @alex12123002 I looked for the lyrics he dosent say a word about god and i thought it would be "they are the image of an invinceble god". I was wrong.

  • @clonelyshadow Noob.

  • just find out about this band a week ago and i must say im really impressed with what ive seen from them :) anyone else here there likes rise against? :) thumbs up if u do :D

  • but the intro isnt on the actual cd anyways. its just part of the video

  • They really are genius'.

  • awesome vid, good director, n did anyone notice that the sign on the flag is the same one on the beggars album

  • This song ain't called Image of the Invisible, it's Like Moths To Flame!

  • @Ninotjuh only first 31 seconds of this video is the beginning of Like

Moths to Flame. the rest is image of the invisible. its all part of the video man

  • @CanadianBeer77

    I know, im sorry..

I posted that comment in the 30 seconds of the song.

  • @Ninotjuh brah. your wrong. its obviously different. but they are extreaaaaamly similar. its truue

  • @Ninotjuh wrong!

  • Still looking for musicians. For further info check my profile.

  • Is it weird that I'm a die-hard Athiest who loves Christian rock/metal bands? lol.

  • @fRaNkIeRoIsLoVe222 Not at all, man. I'm right there with you on that one.

  • I like this song, and the style of the group.. but am non-religious to the core. Quite a clash there.. haha

  • But good music is universal, and the spice of life.. you take your own meaning from each song and let it flow. Nonetheless tasty rifts and kick ass vocals = happy ears here. ^_^

  • Even with Idenity Crisis has Dustin made hints to some form of spirituality, which we saw with A Torch to End All Torches. Through the years and especially with their latest album Beggars has he further... suggested(?)... his belief in a some-what Christian faith with Wood and Wire, The Great Exchange and certainly Beggars. He allows the listener to get their own opinion out of the music though, he doesn't make it blatant. Thus... genious!

  • @ZPCosentino

yeah... "Deadbolt" is about a proverb, can't remember which one right now.

I spoke with Dustin last week... it's pretty obvious he's a Christian, though I think the rest of the band may not be. We spoke about the connection between the Arsonist take on the Orthodoxy and how it relates to God's work with us and rebuilding us...

Other than that, anyone that's picked up a Bible can know that Dustin pulls much reference from it and understands it

  • @droptozro Oh totally, that's cool you got to talk to him. I would imagine, at least hope, the rest of the guys are Christian. They have been together for so long and play such amazing music together, I would have to believe that they are all on the same page in regards to the inspiration. Do you notice what is on the kids wrist when playing the piano as well as what is on Dustin's as he hugs the girl? Such evidence makes it undesputable!

  • @ZPCosentino Soooo i always thought he was Polythestic because he has loads of songs about Dedealus which is a Greek Mythology..so yea....

  • ohhhh what a great sing along song! love this stuff

  • "Let us make man in Our image and let them have complete authority over all the earth " -gen 1:26

  • this video is actually based off the french film "City of Lost Children". as for the song itself, i'm not sure.

  • @missingmorpheus13

That's crazy dude, I wish I could know what Gerard Way and Dustin Kensrue were thinking too..

  • This video shows what living in the United States might be like in the next few years under the current administration. lmao

  • Why was Like Moths to Flame playing first? lol

  • 123

  • Comment removed

  • well the song explains itself really come on you can not be that stupid? the song is about Christians and how they see themselves in this world. in tye image of god, and the video hints the same! :)

  • Can someone please tell me the meaning of this song and the meaning of the video i would really like to know

  • hahahaha NARNIA!
