Back in the 70's, I already owned every one of his albums, yes vinyl, no CD's back then. This song was Elton singing to his long time lover and co writer/producer Bernie Taupin. They were openly gay and in love back in the day. He is very courageous.

He wrote the music to all his songs and occasionally contributed to the development of the lyrics. Now, comparing Elton John to Paul McCartney, or vice versa, is just ridiculous.
