Marijuana is a Schedule 1 controlled substance. Cocaine, Meth, Opium, Oxycodon, and Morphine are a Schedule 2. So how is it Marijuana is a gateway drug to a "lesser" drug? (In the minds of the DEA/FBI)

Nobody has the right to tell me what to do as long as I'm acting peacefully and not limiting others to act freely. Prohibition of alcohol was a ridiculous failure, the prohibition of drugs is even worse on the whole and it's been going on far longer. The rule utilitarianism view of pot being illegal anymore is fading as more and more facts come about. I personally never thought it should be illegal but that's the way it is. Stupid drug laws, marijuana is used as a medicine for some medical patients, when do you see alcohol being used as medicine? you dont. Marijuana is defiantly the 1st drug most kids try that "might" never be legal for them but most try alcohol and tobacco before marijuana. Legalize marijuana and utilize hemp.
The gateway theory is actually somewhat true, but that's to the uninformed. You get people who try weed, and think "this is what the big fuss was all about?". Not realizing how strong other drugs are, some people say fuck it and try harder shit. It happened to me, but lucky for me, I only tried variations of the harder stuff once each (all the way up to meth).

Stupid drug laws, marijuana is used as a medicine for some medical patients, when do you see alcohol being used as medicine? you dont. Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, and if inhaled the correct way can have no medical effects on you, sure its a gateway drug. but if we crack down hard on the drugs that are actually killing people, we will not have to worry about kids moving on to different drugs, now i agree kids shouldnt be smoking it, but it should be legalized, Its a plant, not a drug.
