Hey sorry to be a pain, but I can't get the 3 button download mode to work. I have tried multiple times with no luck. The drivers are installed and the device registers in Kiess mini. Would you recommend using ADB to try get it in download mode? (read online that this might work) - I'm a new/basic user (not a developer).

ok i've gotten everything done up until installing andromeda, i've tried putting it on the internal sd card and it says i have write protection, and i put it on the external sd card and when im in ursa minor it says there is no files there . . . is there a way to put it on the internal sd card?

oh buddy, i couldn't get odin to flash the phone, now i have the phone---!----computer and nothing is happening, nothing will load, the computer won't read the phone, it's just sitting at that screen, what have i done . . .

how did you get out of the soft brick screen?

check the superuser app and remove any remembered access. You may have accidentally clicked do not allow.

i rooted my phone i have supper user and all that comes up is it cant find the root. on titanium back up.

i Had the same problem, not noticing that i had not reset the phone after the root was finished, once i did so it worked fine

You can start over by redownloading everything. That odin3 is a beta version of 2.2. Its not a stock build.

Followed instructions, but keeps getting stuck after andromeda boot animation, does force close vibrate.

Had I897UCJI6-OCD-REV02-Low-design­gears(1) 2.2 froyo on it before I started. Also reflashed with above file to a clean system and tried again, same result. What can I do to fix please?

That's backup operation. You have likely changed your secondary or primary bootloaders, or your PIT. You will need to do a flash back to stock. Stay away from miui or cyanogen because they will cause problems.

Hey there everytime i try to use either the odin3 1.7 or odin 3 one click to reflash/recover from phone ! pc it constantly freezes ive tried reinstalling usb drivers and still no luck also its a samsung captivate I896 the rogers canada phone can you help me out with my issue?

Remove cable, battery, sim, and sd. Plug in cable, press and hold vol+,vol-,power. Insert battery. Continue holding until screen goes black twice and let go of power. The phone should connect to a com port on your computer.

Phone--!--pc is a download mode. Just plug it in and reflash with odin3.

Hey in the event that my phone gets that fail and i get the phone ! computer and on accident i disconnect my phone from my pc what do i do? I held the 3 button thing and it still comes up with the phone ! computer nor does the odin3 v1.70 recognize it. It's stuck on there and i don't want to lose this phone......

The kernel is included in the ROM. Flashing the initial kernel is just to install ClockWork Mod. From there your phone is basically unlocked for all flashes which are CWM compliant.

Since you deleted files, its best to reflash. My screen once lost rotation when i pressed calibrate and moved the phone accidentally. I didn't realize it. I pulled the battery, recalibrated, and everything worked well. Cal should be done with the phone on its back.

Thanks for the great tutorial, everything went as planned, BUT now I have lost screen rotation! PLEASE help! (I have tried to calibrate, dose not look like it is working at all! (little ball does not move) I deleted the conf. file, then the dev cath (or something like that) cant seem to find a fix, very annoying.) Thank you!

Download the link for Andromeda3 in the comments from your phone. Then it will be in your download folder on the phone.

ive completetd all the steps but when i go to install andromeda3 on my captivate it does not show up nowhere to install thru clockwork recovery does not show anywhere is this a known issues any way to make them show

You will need to get the drivers working first. Make sure you are running the proper 32/64 bit drivers

i was unable to enter download mode from the 3 button method, i used the volume methodwith the usb cord, but when the computer said drivers were installing there was an error, and odin is not recognizing my captivate

Yes. You have to flash a custom kernel. You cab flash back to a stock kernel if you want, but that would eliminate gains.

Just flash it. Reboot if you must while holding 3 button. As soon as you see the phone registered to a com port, its ready to flash.
