haha.. how the hell you going to let any tibetan go building anything. they never had any experience in construction. everything city is china is going through major changes. Not just Tibet you idiot.
I think most Zang ethnic minorities (Tibetans) activists, living outside of their motherland, China and a small number inside China, including a small minority of Western sympathisers have realized that they have lost a lot of respect in the International Communities today. The disruptions of the Olympic Torch, The Beijing Games, The riots in Lhasa, Xizang (Tibet) province of China in March 2008, and many other disruptive demonstrations had been condemn by people worldwide. Peace to the world.
Lol... this video is kinda Hippocratical. In the beginning of the video, a Tibetan man says he likes his village life (poor life) and would not trade it for a middle class way of life. Towards the end it says that Tibetans are being left out of the economic growth and are left to tend the fields (ISN'T THIS SOMETHING THEY WANT TO DO?) This is what makes such topics so controversial and very hard to give accurate reportings of.

The problem is that whereas the world has moved on, you are still uncivilized even today. You are stuck like an old record about how the Tibetans lived in a feudal society like slaves 60 years ago and how Americans killed natives 200 years ago
Come on, wake up. The world has become civilized in the last 60 years. The Chinese should 2. Quebec had a referendum and they VOTED to stay with Canada. So why not let the 6 million Tibetans do the same. The current Chinese system is worse than slavery
Probably supremacists in AlJazeera and in the West do not understand what multi cultural means. Probably they are not evil, just ignorants. Each one has our own way of being a Chinese. I never stop learning what we Chinese are. Diversity, that is what I love the most from my country.
You are wrong guy, the West is not more multicultural. There are 58 ethnicities in China plus foreigners who live over there (as uch as in the Netherland). 1.3 billions, 500 million migrants, allow a lot of diversity. I am an student in Spain, and yes, I have been in Amsterdam. I love it and I love its people. A pity that you guys still try to lecture others instead of learning from others, it is not your fault, it is just your ignorance. Besides supremacism, I like dutch people.
No, it's their country and Tibetans have a right to do as they please in it. Who the hell are you Chinese to tell them what they can and cannot do in their country? That's exactly the problem. The Chinese have got their brains in their bloody arses. They think they have a right to bully Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, S. Korea, Tibet, Russia, Mongolia, India, Burma and Turkistan.
All these countries should get together and invade China and then tell the fuc.ing Chinese what to do in THEIR own country
if don't know the spelling of tibetans how can u say tibetans r chineses???? TIBETAN IS TIBETAN ( pls bear in mind spelling of tibetans ). donot read only Chinese biased history if u really want to know the truth.
Those western bigots shall think of if not your forefather's effort. You will enjoy your freedom and free speech in the hand of those clergymen in the dark age.

A region is not existed to entaintain west for remaining poor and raw. They have the human right to be lifted to a better living standard by economy development.
I agree Tibetans should be able to express their views, but likewise I think we shouldn't be so harsh as to refuse to give the Chinese a chance to defend themselves and explain their point of view. I did not hear about any arrests, but I have no sympathy for the Dalai Lama or his supporters, and so unless the arrests were too brutal they were probably justified.
I think no reason to talk with chinese, because they are not the victims who sufferred from this tregedy experience. We Tibetans had real sense of feeling that what is been like who lost his country.
Would you then say that most or all of your information about Tibet comes from Tibetans who had been upsetting the Chinese government? If so then thats very biased. Have you talked to any Chinese? Have you talked to any Tibetans who like the Chinese regime?
I think no reason to talk with chinese, because they are not the victims who sufferred from this tregedy experience. We Tibetans had real sense of feeling that what is been like who lost his country.
the chinese are as much a part of this as the tibetans and I think they should at least be able to explain their point of view. thats just simple openmindedness.
OK, this argument could clearly go on forever, so lets wrap it up. The key factor here is which of us has the most reliable source of information about Tibet. I have never been to Tibet, or China, my only knowledge comes from the testimony of Tibetan and Chinese people. So I will ask you - have you ever been to Tibet yourself? If you say you have, I will stop arguing with you until I go there myself
A good point. But I think the Chinese invasion, although brutal, has in the long run given the Tibetans more freedom, not less. Do you think the lamas were any less oppressive? The Dalai Lama was instituted by Genghis Khan for Christs sake. He was hardly liberal.
nevertheless, I don't see how trying to solve financial/physical/economic problems can be a bad thing. You talk about psychological suffering, but there won't be any psychiatrists in Tibet if no Tibetans can afford one.
No, a better economy results in a better quality of life, at a physical level at least. I agree there is more to suffering than money, but money is still a good start. You have to solve the physical suffering before you can solve the psychological.
Every single province in Tibet has a Tibetan majority. Most Han Chinese migrate there to work, and then return home later in the year. Don't forget that many Tibetans have probably also moved to mainland China.
I know that improvements in economy, employment, hygiene, education and government, and dragging Tibet out of the dark ages are good for them. And if Tibetans are so censored how come this guy is on Al Jazeera?
dementia664 your views are so narrow minded...look, China is not the mother Teresa of the world but it certainly isn't the US of A with it's Yee-ha! foreign policy. China doesn't want rebellions but then what country does?
Many countries have had to deal with unrest caused by people feeling snubbed or being influenced by foreign powers. Anyone remember the paranoia surrounding America's fear of communism destroying their capitalist ideologies, the "domino effect" anyone?
You just need to take a look at the western empires to see what imperialism really is.
dementia664 it appears from your comment "Because of blind nationalism you may be in denial." you have mistakenly assumed I am Chinese. In fact I am English and white. I see most of your comments revolve around news reports from the BBC...anyone listening to the news on BBC, radio 4 etc will notice the BBC will consistently point out China's short-commings before giving it any praise e.g. China gives huge benefits to minorities in China including Tibetans.
I can't believe this propaganda bullshit. China invests huge amounts of money in improving the economy of Tibet, and people say they're being imperial. If the Chinese don't modernise Tibet they're "ignoring" it, if they do they're "marginalising the Tibetans". I support China fully.
We all know that this scare mongering is backed by America's fear of Communism and it's fear China could potentialy become a rival superpower if not a influential politcal and economic power...it would prefer to abstruct it indirectly and behind the scenes. Of course Tibetens don't want to change their way of life...no one does but things do change (the industrial revolution anyone?).
Sorry, I wouldn't give George Bush that much credit. He's got his own religion; otherwise he's in the oil bidness. Tibet didn't have a vote, ask the Dali Lama. Isn't China creating its own problems with quality control around the world? I think so, that's no conspiriacy theory friend.
How do they think they will survive without aid from China under the oppresive religous regime that is centred in Lhasa? Sure, it may be slightly more benign but when at least 1 person in every family must become a monk or nun...how can they sustain themselves without the aid from China?
