  • wtf , free tibet now , chinese morons get ur fuckin 1 inch dick out of my country.

    FREE TIBET

  • haha.. how the hell you going to let any tibetan go building anything. they never had any experience in construction. everything city is china is going through major changes. Not just Tibet you idiot.

  • Have you heard of the Potala Palace ?? Its been around for a very long time. Tibetans built that. It looks pretty nice as well.

Remember China's schools fell down. Why would you trust any new building in Tibet or China ???

Free Tibet and China from a corrupt and incompetent government.

  • @bizman82 > Vos propos sont racistes et méprisant envers les tibétains.

  • Lol... this video is kinda Hippocratical. In the beginning of the video, a Tibetan man says he likes his village life (poor life) and would not trade it for a middle class way of life. Towards the end it says that Tibetans are being left out of the economic growth and are left to tend the fields (ISN'T THIS SOMETHING THEY WANT TO DO?) This is what makes such topics so controversial and very hard to give accurate reportings of.

  • can you people use your brain just for once! china is trying to help tibet. Do you think teh tibetian can operate business and technology that the china hoverment offers? dont complain people. china will give tibet education, and later when teh locals master the skills than they can work as CEO and such, do you really expect the former to run a business taht china helped build?? use your brain. give it time...

  • christopherKJ86:

"can you people use your brain just for once! china is trying to help tibet. Do you think teh tibetian...."

U Chinese are really so noble and kind. U took over Tibet coz u couldn't see their pain and suffering. Japan will provide each one of these things to every Han Chinese and all the 56 ethnic groups in China, only more of it and better quality. The Chinese would all have a better standard of living and quality of life. So now can Japan take over China and rule it please?

  • Japan cant compare with china, your econmy had been depressed for ages. Plus Japan wont have enough raw material to build china or tibet in this case... and even just so japan some how in postion of 1/3 of world's metal and 1/2 worlds concrete, do you have enough people to do the actual work? we shall see if your smart mouth could do finsh the job...(fucking idiot)

  • lol... japan providing China with "things"??? let me remind u a few of the "things" japan has provided for china: the Nanjing massacre, biological warfare experimentation, rapes of innocent women and children (u sick fucks), and that's just naming a few.. let me guess they didnt teach u that shit in school?? u fucking japs are just as bad as the fucking koreans in changing and claiming shit about history, cant wait for china to nuke ur little fucking sorry ass island country again..

  • Both sides commited attrocities in the war...the usa blew up hundreds of thousands of INNOCENT people in just a couple of days. There were no strategic military targets where the atomic bombs were dropped. It was total war.

  • @fallenblade44 China faked Nanking bullshit

  • The problem is that whereas the world has moved on, you are still uncivilized even today. You are stuck like an old record about how the Tibetans lived in a feudal society like slaves 60 years ago and how Americans killed natives 200 years ago

Come on, wake up. The world has become civilized in the last 60 years. The Chinese should 2. Quebec had a referendum and they VOTED to stay with Canada. So why not let the 6 million Tibetans do the same. The current Chinese system is worse than slavery

  • Probably supremacists in AlJazeera and in the West do not understand what multi cultural means. Probably they are not evil, just ignorants. Each one has our own way of being a Chinese. I never stop learning what we Chinese are. Diversity, that is what I love the most from my country.

  • Lol. I'm pretty sure the west is more multicultural. Atleast my country is. Go to Amsterdam and you'll see.

By the way China is assimilating the tibetans.

But I know you won't agree because your anti-western. I'ts not your fault, i'ts your governements fault.

  • You are wrong guy, the West is not more multicultural. There are 58 ethnicities in China plus foreigners who live over there (as uch as in the Netherland). 1.3 billions, 500 million migrants, allow a lot of diversity. I am an student in Spain, and yes, I have been in Amsterdam. I love it and I love its people. A pity that you guys still try to lecture others instead of learning from others, it is not your fault, it is just your ignorance. Besides supremacism, I like dutch people.

  • No, it's their country and Tibetans have a right to do as they please in it. Who the hell are you Chinese to tell them what they can and cannot do in their country? That's exactly the problem. The Chinese have got their brains in their bloody arses. They think they have a right to bully Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, S. Korea, Tibet, Russia, Mongolia, India, Burma and Turkistan.

All these countries should get together and invade China and then tell the fuc.ing Chinese what to do in THEIR own country

  • if don't know the spelling of tibetans how can u say tibetans r chineses???? TIBETAN IS TIBETAN ( pls bear in mind spelling of tibetans ). donot read only Chinese biased history if u really want to know the truth.

  • tibetans are tibetans

  • tibetans are chinese.

  • read the book

The Shadow of the Dalai Lama by Victor & Victoria Trimondi

  • read the book

Mao: The Unknown Story by Jon Halliday and Jung Chang.

  • read the book

Gyrad: Why are you such a dumbass?

  • read the book

    Me: Tibet is useless.

  • Those western bigots shall think of if not your forefather's effort. You will enjoy your freedom and free speech in the hand of those clergymen in the dark age.

  • Well said, feeltrade!

This was the way Americans developed California, or Hawaii in that case.

  • Why those bigots don't choose to living in the dark age of medieval and burning scientists and eating the rat.Such unjustice.

  • When those bigots wearing nice shirts with clean face and living in nice hotel, how could they have the right to stop people to get a civilized decent life.

  • Anti free movement of labor and capital is the evil design of those unethic people who want Tibet residents to remain poor forever to entertain them.

  • If living in the dirt poverty were called traditional life, noone has moral right to question the change to a decent living standard.

  • A region is not existed to entaintain west for remaining poor and raw. They have the human right to be lifted to a better living standard by economy development.

  • Call me stupid

My brain doesn't compute with the idea that King Tut, a Jeffersonian believer, tries to make a deal with Lenin.

Yes, I am talking about Dalai Lama and his current political statue quo.

  • I agree Tibetans should be able to express their views, but likewise I think we shouldn't be so harsh as to refuse to give the Chinese a chance to defend themselves and explain their point of view. I did not hear about any arrests, but I have no sympathy for the Dalai Lama or his supporters, and so unless the arrests were too brutal they were probably justified.

  • tibetians are some of the most enlightened people on this planet! EDUCATE YOURSELF!

    chinadocs . blog spot . com/2007/07/yogis-of-tibet-2003 . html

  • I think no reason to talk with chinese, because they are not the victims who sufferred from this tregedy experience. We Tibetans had real sense of feeling that what is been like who lost his country.

  • Well, I agree to that.

  • Well, I agree Tibetans should have freedom of speech. Whether Communism is better or worse than democracy I'm not qualified to say.

  • Would you then say that most or all of your information about Tibet comes from Tibetans who had been upsetting the Chinese government? If so then thats very biased. Have you talked to any Chinese? Have you talked to any Tibetans who like the Chinese regime?

  • I think no reason to talk with chinese, because they are not the victims who sufferred from this tregedy experience. We Tibetans had real sense of feeling that what is been like who lost his country.

  • the chinese are as much a part of this as the tibetans and I think they should at least be able to explain their point of view. thats just simple openmindedness.

  • Perhaps. But basing your beliefs on testimony heard through others which could easily be biased or misinformed is equally unsatisfactory

  • OK, this argument could clearly go on forever, so lets wrap it up. The key factor here is which of us has the most reliable source of information about Tibet. I have never been to Tibet, or China, my only knowledge comes from the testimony of Tibetan and Chinese people. So I will ask you - have you ever been to Tibet yourself? If you say you have, I will stop arguing with you until I go there myself

  • A good point. But I think the Chinese invasion, although brutal, has in the long run given the Tibetans more freedom, not less. Do you think the lamas were any less oppressive? The Dalai Lama was instituted by Genghis Khan for Christs sake. He was hardly liberal.

  • nevertheless, I don't see how trying to solve financial/physical/economic problems can be a bad thing. You talk about psychological suffering, but there won't be any psychiatrists in Tibet if no Tibetans can afford one.

  • No, a better economy results in a better quality of life, at a physical level at least. I agree there is more to suffering than money, but money is still a good start. You have to solve the physical suffering before you can solve the psychological.

  • Every single province in Tibet has a Tibetan majority. Most Han Chinese migrate there to work, and then return home later in the year. Don't forget that many Tibetans have probably also moved to mainland China.

  • I know that improvements in economy, employment, hygiene, education and government, and dragging Tibet out of the dark ages are good for them. And if Tibetans are so censored how come this guy is on Al Jazeera?

  • China is China, Tibet is Tibet. It appears country borders no longer exist...

  • But really, at the end of the day, China, like Britain and it's empire is damned if it does and damned if it don't.

  • dementia664 your views are so narrow minded...look, China is not the mother Teresa of the world but it certainly isn't the US of A with it's Yee-ha! foreign policy. China doesn't want rebellions but then what country does?

  • Many countries have had to deal with unrest caused by people feeling snubbed or being influenced by foreign powers. Anyone remember the paranoia surrounding America's fear of communism destroying their capitalist ideologies, the "domino effect" anyone?

You just need to take a look at the western empires to see what imperialism really is.

  • dementia664 it appears from your comment "Because of blind nationalism you may be in denial." you have mistakenly assumed I am Chinese. In fact I am English and white. I see most of your comments revolve around news reports from the BBC...anyone listening to the news on BBC, radio 4 etc will notice the BBC will consistently point out China's short-commings before giving it any praise e.g. China gives huge benefits to minorities in China including Tibetans.

  • I can't believe this propaganda bullshit. China invests huge amounts of money in improving the economy of Tibet, and people say they're being imperial. If the Chinese don't modernise Tibet they're "ignoring" it, if they do they're "marginalising the Tibetans". I support China fully.

  • We all know that this scare mongering is backed by America's fear of Communism and it's fear China could potentialy become a rival superpower if not a influential politcal and economic power...it would prefer to abstruct it indirectly and behind the scenes. Of course Tibetens don't want to change their way of life...no one does but things do change (the industrial revolution anyone?).

  • Sorry, I wouldn't give George Bush that much credit. He's got his own religion; otherwise he's in the oil bidness. Tibet didn't have a vote, ask the Dali Lama. Isn't China creating its own problems with quality control around the world? I think so, that's no conspiriacy theory friend.

  • How do they think they will survive without aid from China under the oppresive religous regime that is centred in Lhasa? Sure, it may be slightly more benign but when at least 1 person in every family must become a monk or nun...how can they sustain themselves without the aid from China?

  • Tibetan's need to educate themselves toward a new economy. I fear the worst for the individual farmer.

  • if so they choose they can live in caves , don t give us that civilisation bringer please it s old

  • communist cleansing of tibet does not help them.totalatarian control by an evil foreign power does not help tibet.tibet was fine before the chicoms.FREE TIBET

  • I think China's inflence over Tibet is nothing but cultural invasion, that they're trying to "Chinese-ise" Tibetans. China INVADED Tibet to start with and the process was not a smooth one, Tibet has been an automony and I think it should stay that way

  • Just because one tibetan says he does not like China spending billions mordernising Tibet, does not mean other Tibetans don't. So you think they are entitled to live without proper infrastructure, proper health care and technology? I have been to Tibet and have many Tibetan friends, almost all are happy Tibet living in the big family of China. All your self-justifying, self-fullfilling rhetoric are nothing more than just fantasy. The fact is that the status of Tibet will never change.

  • man i just got use to live in America now i have go to china ;( ....... the way things are go with USA it not going to be the world power pretty soon.... all aboard next stop hong kong

  • Why not send in 007 to save the world from China before they flood the world with their devastating waves of hungry and optimistic farmer-commandos? Did any of you notice that the actual Tibetans interviewed did not seem too interested in the modernization they are being 'marginalized' out of? Do you know anything about Tibetan Buddhism? Let's try some informed and responsible comments as opposed to all this hysteria and conspiracy theory.

  • Well put, none of the interviewed Tibetians viewed the changes as a threat, it was a speculator who suggested they were being "ghettoized." If the article referred to anyone being forced off their land the caption might be justified, but I smell bias.

  • There is a difference between bias and debate. I would hope the report presents both sides of the arguement

  • I think if you go back and look at the report you'll find it doesn't make a judgment either way...and where did you feel it was ill informed?

  • China is practicing a slow and subtle genocide of the Tibetan people. Chinese are moving in and dragging the native Tibetans out of their land and their way of life. That's how I see it. Wal-Mart will be there along with it!

  • Does anyone notice a conflicting perspective in this story? The development threatens the traditional Tibetan lifestyle, 80% are traditionally farmers, yet they say Tibetans are being marginalized by being left in the argicultural industry...!

  • Yes! Thats exactly what I thought!

  • i luv this aljazeera news they cover everything

  • I agree, aljazeera covers the most amazing topics

  • china need more humanity and less armies

  • It's really good that Al Jazeera's got the guts to slam China - none of the US networks have.

  • pretty sad, china thinks it can do whatever it likes in that region. in reality in alot of cases many people's lives are getting worse. and oh yeah, i get first comment
