I got my information from various sources. For the quotes, I did a google search for Hubbard quotes. My information about the CoS is from xenuDOTnet and from various former members. I'm doing an assignment for class and I choose Scientology as my topic. By the way, I also found that apparently Scientology Churches do have some kind of Sunday service that seems to be open to the public. I've never been to one, but other people on the Internet said that it involves a church representative reading a few articles from L. Ron Hubbart and then having people stare at random objects for like 15 minutes.

Interesting question. Hubbard actually was a fan of Allister Crowley who was involved in The Occult and Black Magic. It is said that he borrowed some aspects of Crowley's leadership and used them in the development of Scientology.

A cult is a group of people who worship a person or an object, which Scientologists do neither. A religion is a philosophy that contains an ethical code, and deals with the human spirit. Hence Scientology has been bona fide as a religion.

Most fanatic religious groups use just about any means necessary to recruit. Belittling and demeaning individuals to the point of "breaking". Cos and LDS are just about in the same boat. They both worship mortal human men that have shown NO prophetic actions...ever. I can believe in what one man says and use it to better myself but I will not subject myself to ridicule and persecution to become quote unquote better.

This is exactly why they claim they have 10 million members. They consider anyone who walks in the door of an org to be a member, anyone who took their "stress test" to be a member. In reality, it's probably more like 100,000.

A cult is a group of people who worship a person or an object, which Scientologists do neither. A religion is a philosophy that contains an ethical code, and deals with the human spirit. Hence Scientology has been bona fide as a religion.

Clearly you don't know much about cults (other than how to join one). They are not about worshiping a person or object. It's about group mentality. It's about defending their cause againt ANYONE who criticises, and the belief that their group is the ONLY correct one and that everyone else is wrong. Cults teach their members to block out any incoming critical thought or logic. They believe their way is the ONLY way. Sorry, Scientology - not a religion.

We won't confuse common sense and smarts. INTELLIGENCE is the inclusion of both, but brilliant is also used for knowledge. He had a lot of knowledge, but not enough common sense to use it properly.
He was smart enough to trick all of the people who believe in Scientology. He knew enough about psychology and science to trick these people, but he just didn't have enough common sense to put it to good use.

It defines certain terms and abbreviations that he uses so you can figure out what the hell he's talking about.

I explained the differences but it wasn't what I FELT they were. I was reading from a checklist on a website that explains what cults are. As for the "I'm telling you something, therefore it's a fact", that's exactly what Scientologists say. They even say, "Things are only real if you believe them to be real". I even said at the end, "I'm not speaking for everyone. YOU decide. Look at both lists and decide what you think Scientology is"

I've no problem with your film, merely the response you gave to a visitor: "I TOLD you the differences..." A minor point, true, but this seems rather declarative to me, as if a final truth has been spoken - that's all. (It's sometimes really hard to convey or grasp an intended tone in these limited surroundings - probably why so many needless fights erupt. Ho hum.)

This was a frothing and boggle-eyed performance by Tom Cruise, bereft of humility and rarely troubling logic. His heart seems to be in the right place, but his brain has clearly gone walkabout. But its also fair to say that many of their cources do look to better the individual such as in communication and personal efficeny and want to promote a better world free from harmfull drugs, I mean no one wants to live in a world with criminals and the insane.

OT3 is the level with Zenu, alien spirits being blown up in volcanoes and body thetans. You don't have to get to the level to know about it. As much as the Scienos want to keep it a secret, a quick google search will do the trick.
The truth of the matter is, criminals and insanity aren't going anywhere. No amount of auditing or courses is going to change that.
The members are brainwashed to believe that the courses are helping them, in order to get them to pay for more courses.
