I have a smp-n100. I run the audio into a surround sound system and it works fine.
You need to register the box with Sony and some services but that is free. You need a computer to register.
There is lots of free content included with the box and some (like netflix) that you have to subscribe to like Amazon on demand.
smp-n100 does not support closed captions but I think the n200 does.
The Sony boxes have a lot of output connections which is a good thing.
