im using 4.2.1 and found that you dont need to trim track to 30 sec or less. ive used a full length track (3.35) and it works fine. dont know if it will work with earlier firmware

I ripped a cd to apple lossless. It doesn't give an option to convert the section. I did copy the m4a file to the desktop & renamed it to m4r. However, when I launch it back in itunes, it just plays the full song already in the library. It doesn't seem to recognize that the m4a was copied.

hey man, to get ti to your iphone, click on your iphone icon in devices in itunes then go to the section that says ringtones and put on sync all ring tones and it will show up. i jsut figured this out, cheers!

how did you convert it to m4r in windows? do we need any converter?

nah no converter jsut go to your control panel->folder options-> then uncheck the thing that says hide extensions to files so you can see the full name then when you ahve your aac file on itunes, drag and drop the aac file into your desktop, oon the desktop click the file once and ull see it says (songname).M4A or somehting then ranme the M4a to M4r then it iwll say do you want to cvhange it...clikc yes then drag and drop it back into your itunes side bar and it will become a ringtone file.

Windows xp users: all you do is once you have the file in the i tunes folder, convert it like he said into the ringtone format and drag it into the ringtones section, next just click on your i phone tab and go to ringtones tap and sync it from there.
