  • Way to cut off in the end...

  • USMC!

  • HOW COULD YOU CUT OFF THE END?!!!!!

  • Sousa is originally from Portugal... Like me

  • @TheHardstuffer sousa is from DC, his father was portugese, but he is definitely american.

  • I am learning the pic solo and it is fast.

  • I love this song!

  • Fantastic. Sousa is America.

  • Because Sousa always marched with a harp in the rear. Great song, but probably not Sousa himself right here.

  • At the end of this song, there should be a person yelling to the symphony, "If there's a person lying in the ground, get them some water...WE JUST WENT SO FAST IT WAS CRAZY!"

It has this really fast feeling when you play it, just remember to breath as you play or else you will pass out.

  • Genki's Theme :)

  • thats all i have to say about that

  • WOW! John Phillips sounds like an airline ad. I didn't know they had airplanes back then like this. I am always learning something new it seems.

  • be kind to ur web footed friends for a duck could be somebodies mother they live at the bottom of the swamp where the weather is cold and damp well u might think that this is the end well it is but u thought wrong be kind to your webbed footed friends

  • THIS IS TURNED ON DURING MARX BROS (DUCK SOUP)

on radio, turned on (loudly) by Harpo, who mistakes it for a safe

  • Think I'll go see if anyone has uploaded some good Bach from Organblaster now.........tutulu

  • Oh, oops, that was supposed to be Three Men in a Tub. Do forgive my lapse of character.

  • Which is the one with the Jets going over? I LOVE that!! I have this Sousa tape ( which I can't find at the moment ) that has some of the best marches but I can't remember the names of all of them.

Anyone know which one that is?

  • Yeah, it really has a bang up ending.......what about a redo zzahier??

  • How could you cut off the end of the march? YOU TTLY HARSHED MY JAMS YO

  • I love this song. A relative played in Sousa's band. At camp they song it" be kind to your web footed friends. etc

  • niets

  • Fail compilations with this track as background are always fantastic.

  • It's a PICCOLO, not a flute...sheesh

  • @ocbasketball35 A piccolo is essentally a flute, just smaller than a 'normal' flute.

  • @xXxStellaAquaticaXx Ah huh, Like a basketball is essentially a soccer ball, just a smaller version. Yeah, I get it. :)

  • @ocbasketball35 Still, it's a kind of flute......

  • In the Army this was played during Pass and Review!!!! Proud to the MAX!!!

  • @apacogon . Great memories of Pass and Review. Same with the Washington Post. Thanks for serving our nation. A simple old paratrooper.

  • This is one of my favorite pieces of Sousa. I played with my band and it wasn't as nearly as great as this one. It was also arranged differently so it didn't have all the parts like I hoped it would. :(

  • I played trumpet in the high school band, and I always thought the shrilly flute at 2:03 made me think the blonde flutist in the band was super hot!

  • i vote these two guys should get into a fight....my life savings on the marine

  • @ajbuddys hoooorAAAAH!!!

  • freakin' awesome. gives me goosebumps.

  • @1woodstone . Gives all real Americans goosebumps. awesome indeed.

  • 2:00 mark Rocks! "Let's roll!"

  • @grilltucker if you think this is boring then you are one of the stupidest pieces of shit alive. You don't deserve the air you breathe.

  • this is boring

  • Among current and former bandsmen, in my day, this was known as "THE March". Absolutely peerless.

  • Fallout 3 and Saints Row The Third <3

  • It does not matter what time of year I hear this, it makes want to light up a big ol delicious string of firecrackers.

  • The piccolos are my favorite!

  • @MicheleMcdermott I play piccolo :D usually its super hard music and I don't feel like practicing it but this is probably the funnest song I've ever played and I love practicing it! The solo is amazing <3

  • America....Fuck yeahh!!

  • Grrr. U cut off the end.

  • The internet: a place to draft up angry rhetoric from the comfort of a desk chair.

  • @nefilim314

LOL...I was thinking that there are some real twits on youtube. I don't necessarily think that if someone doesn't care for Stars & Stripes, it makes them unAmerican. Just tasteless.....haaa

  • @nefilim314 But if they don't like Yankee Doodle, THEN they are anti-Christ AND unAmerican. hee hee ( Just teasin' crazies!! )

  • @nefilim314 I was thinkin' they probably like drinking their bathwater while blubbering 3 Men in Tub. Or Rubber Duckie...whereas I prefer The Little White Duck ( doing what he oughter...) but errybody loves Flintstones! Pavarotti eat your heart out ( I know he's passed on and is surely singing with the angels...as he had the voice of one! ) Rap is a capella meatball, but whatever. If they throw in some good singing, I might like it sometimes.

  • I love this song... Those flutes are awesome... and the trumpets too!

  • who the hell dislikes this ... lol ur unamerican

  • I love this shit

  • DIDNT END ON TONIC!! NOT COOL!!!!!!!!

  • the 3 people that hate this probably cant play this.

  • fantastic, sounds like Theodore Roosevelt a his best!

  • Good grief, y'all! Can't anyone say anything positive on these boards??

  • @rbspace454 says the one who just made a criticism.

  • Hmmmmmm that ended abruptly!

Oh, and why can't everyone stop arguing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...using this music is really childish to try and settle scores with each other

  • honestly, wat dumass would dislike this?

  • What happened to the final chords???

  • We need more high school band featuring this and other Sousa songs in halftime shows instead of the boring music they now play

  • @kdspttex Put in "Lake Brantley High School Marching Band" and go to the 2010 Seminole Festival video. Once there, go to the 7:40 mark. I think you'll be somewhat pleased.

  • All I know is even my 3 dogs get excited in the morning listening to this as I get them going.

  • Americae aeternum

  • This is the American SONG one of his best pieces...

  • Swing and a miss. Not a Marine, never have been. Where do you come up with this junk? Lay off Dr. Phil and Oprah re-runs for a while, get some exercise and hydrate. Maybe get some time in on a weight bench. You know, if you work real hard you may get that big chip off your shoulder and grow some gonads. I'm just a regular American, smart-guy. Now go off and think of something else clever and let me know when you do. OOHRA!

  • OOHRA!!

  • Well, you were smart enough to figure out it was you I was addressing. That's the great thing about America, even the arrogant an un-informed have a voice. And it's really more of an opinion than a judgment. Thanks for being the smartest guy on the planet. I guess I should have figured that out by the sharp e-penis remark. What is the correct way to say "Ooh-rah"? Maybe I didn't get it right growing up in a household run by a DI. That's drill instructor to you, junior.

  • @jprud63 No way a Marine would go on the internet just to mouth off. He takes care of all his aggression out on those he loves. Who cares if being a wife-beater is bad? He served our.... country's... interests.

  • Here's another comment by a "civvie": I am an informed (thanks to a free press), middle-class (thanks to a free, capitalist system), and safe (thanks to our Constitution and military) citizen of the United States. I pay my debt by vigorous participation in our republic (I vote), stay informed and go about my life raising my family as I see fit. I owe this to the forethought of the our Founders and to America's servicemen. And for this I am grateful. Semper Fi you Canadian puke.

  • @jprud63 Who are you talking to? Oh, and it's semper fidelis. As well, stop trying to act like you know everything. Judging from your judgements, you don't know your U.S. history.

  • 3:25 -- WHY?????

  • You clipped off the end of the song you silly person. Thumbs down.

  • no, this is NOT the real anthem, unless of course you can provide the meaning of "anthem! I am never sure why folks question the real National Anthem! The words, the music, the arrangement, so fits our country! The fact that it is hard to "sing" for some, and hard to remember for others, is not a reason that it is not a good choice!

  • WHO LIVES IN A PINEAPPLE UNDER THE SEA? This is the official end of the debate.

  • And before you say anything, yes, I know I made a typo.

  • This music was also besmirched by its association with football(soccer) hooligans in the 1970's/80's, who would replace the "Hoo-Ray for the Red White and Blue/ May she wave as our standard forever..." by singing, just as they went to attack the visiting team fans, "Here we go, Here we go, Here we go..."

  • This is a good song and all, but after two years of baton twirling competition, and this being the only thing you hear the entire day, it's gets kind of annoying.

  • Always makes me think of Harpo Marx raising the alarm while trying to steal the war plans in Duck Soup.

  • This should be our National Anthem...a song we can all stand up and clap to and don't have to worry about remembering the words or is out of our range!!!

  • @Dejimmie BTW this song does have Lyrics.

  • Stars and Stripes Forever is used by circus bands as a signal to circus show folks that something has gone seriously wrong. It is traditional code signaling a life-threatening emergency. In show business, theater and circus, this piece is called the "Disaster March". One example is the Hartford CT Circus Fire in July 1944.

  • Stars and Stripes Forever was declared to be the official National March by act of Congress in 1987.

  • Such a bouncy piece. I love it, couldn't stop shaking my head side to side.

  • Sorry Pal. We should keep our national anthem as is. we have had it from day one. We will not change, even though Stars and Stripes and America The beauitful are great, we must keep our tradition!!!

  • @kitchenrobert55 ---actually the national anthem wasn't official until 1931 via congressional mandate. Prior to that, Hail Columbia (the Vice-Presidents song) was used as the national anthem, along with a few other songs.

  • Where'd the last three notes go? D:

  • *salutes* God Bless the greatest country in the world!

  • God Bless America!

  • Happy Birthday America!!!!!!!!!

  • 4th of July's theme song :D happy 4th!!

  • I'm PROUD to be and American and the daughter of a WWII veteran. Dad was part of the "Avengers of Bataan" in the Philippines and New Guinea! God bless all those who have served to keep this country great!

  • Happy 4th of July <3 God bless America

  • Happy Independence Day

  • Happy 4th of july!

  • Happy Birthday America, 2011

  • Happy BirthdayUSA 2011!!

  • Greatest tune ever...

  • Stars and Stripes Forever or America the Beautiful should be the national anthem. not the dull and drab Star Spangled Banner. what a downer. with those two songs, no one can crap it up like these so called "singers" want to do. (yes i'm talking to you christina aguilera) also, it's so damn hard to sing because it's in such a low key, it sounds awful.

  • this is in the wrong key

  • Te Deum! La goutte!!!

  • For some reason, this song is always stuck in my head. And I have no idea why the author of Water For Elephants used it as the circus's "disaster march" in the book. Maybe all old circuses did?

Anyways, you can't beat Sousa ;]

  • @nehnehmjfan22 Yes, traditionally all the circuses did. It was just a common code that they used.

  • am i the only one that played this in their head when they heard bin laden died?

  • Piccolos of the World Unite! Demand your Band Masters allow you the God Given Right to play this Anthem of Positive Strength and Power!

I'll continue to listen in for each rapturous moment.

  • 0 People are Justin Beiber fans with no life! Congrats people!!! This thumbs up is to you too!

  • Proud to be an American and from a family of the military services long live the good ol' america! this is the real anthem for America the good ol' U.S.of A!

  • @Articmewmew Your family is full of murderers and baby killers then. Hope ur proud

    N O T

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx Go back to school, fool. And lay off the pipe. Or jug. Or whatever you do.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 whatever BABY KILLER! Have fun in hell.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx There is no such thing as hell. Anyone with a who believes in a benevolent God and a brain knows this. And, assuming your European? Abortion is your guys' speciality.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 You raise a good point about hell being mutually exclusive with a benevolent god, but sometimes the hell we experience is of our own making. That's why I have a good laugh when I see things about u murderers that did atrocious things, and you come back home and you have severe mental problems. At least that gives me some hope because it shows that even monsters like you have *some* humanity. Or perhaps the hell u experience will be when your country's actions cause enough

  • @FlyingEwok3967 .....your countries immoral and illegal actions cause enough outrage in the world that there is retribution sanctioned by countries with enough power to carry out a non trivial strike against the usa, and for once you see what it's like to have your home invaded by other nations. Remember what comes around goes around m8, and I would LOVE for you to know what it feels like to have your family killed in front of you and the world doesn't give a shit. USA's time is ticking.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx You speak as if we have attacked YOUR country. If we have, then it was likely 200 years ago "mate". Also, do not go at me with a black and white perspective, that just makes me realize how idiotic it is for me to argue on Youtube. As for the soldiers? You would likely feel the same way to once in your life have a *purpose*, and then be back with nothing in a corrupt political system. This is not counting the fact that they lose people they like in war and feel survivor's guilt.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 "You speak as if we have attacked YOUR country." This sentence says loads about you. I demonstrates the USA mentality of greed and self centeredness. Well, yes your country(usa) attacked mine(canada) and we handed you your asses in that war, but that has nothing to do with my objection with the actions of the usa because I, unlike you am not just concerned about what's in my own best interests. When the usa commits horrible crimes against smaller weaker countries that makes

  • @FlyingEwok3967 ....that saddens me, because I have something called empathy and compassion and concern about social justice.. things that ANY veteran of an army has systematically beaten out of them. That's the first thing that they do to you in your basic training.. make you into cold blooded killing machines that have no morality other than gung ho jingoism and blind obedience. And notice that I say *any* army, including my own countries, just that yours is a lot worse.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx Ever been in an army, my misguided friend? I doubt it. Speaking as a veteran of the USMC, the most badass of all militaries, I can tell you that honor and respectability are a high priority. Of course, I'm not surprised that another civvie uses the freedom of speech we provided for him to badmouth us. We don't do our jobs because it's appreciated, we do it because we have, what was it? "Empathy, compassion, and social justice"? Yes, those things.

    Semper Fi.

  • @ZakkLamm Freedom of speech isn't provided for us by you. That's provided to us by the actual Armed Forces, not just the most arrogant bastards who think they are the most badass guys in the world. Your claim for Marines isn't making your e-penis bigger. And yes, I've gone full troll, and yes, this is the LAST time I'm posting on this video, I'll move to where I'm not surrounded by nationalistic, two-party idiots.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 My e-penis is bigger than yours. So there.

  • @ZakkLamm You're welcome for the top comment. :D

  • @FlyingEwok3967 One of the proudest moments of my life. I guess this proves once and for all that snarkiness wins arguments, not logic, eh?

  • @ZakkLamm You say the marines are the most badasses of all militaries, but I think the Navy SEALS or Green Beret got you beat there :p

  • @CalicoCats523 Both are Special Forces, not branches. Civvies always mess that one up. If we're counting Specs, then look up MARSOC.

  • @ZakkLamm OF COURSE I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A MILITARY. Just signing up for the military is an extremely immoral act in itself. You are explicitly agreeing to go around murdering people whether or not there is any possible justification. Don't follow orders- get court martialed or fraged(and this is coming from another vet that I had an argument with- that was his own word to describe it).

"I can tell you that honor and respectability" I didn't say anything about those two things I'm

  • @ZakkLamm ..you millitary guys have your own twisted ideas about "honor and respectability" and I don't have to go far to find proof as to what they are, you prove it right in that very sentence , you are so BADASS. Lol, that's your code of honor. Might makes right. Every time I hear an army guy talking like you he's so pumped up on violent bravado it seems like he's on speed or something- just can't wait to go 'kill a few more ragheads'. Fucking sick, sick sick fuck.

  • @ZakkLamm .. in the eyes of the military guy, honor is measured but how 'badass' you are, how may people you can kill, how much fear you can put into the minds of people.. you know what that is.. by definition that's terrorism. Yes, you think about honor and respectability, but the WAY you think about it is twisted and sick as hell. If you ever decide to grow up, you might just one day realize that killing can NEVER bring honor, it can only take it away. Something for you to think about.

  • @ZakkLamm .. Sure there are times when violence is an ugly necessity (such as against hitler) but one shouldn't have their head swelled with pride about it and take some kind of sick pleasure at it. Only gross dimented bitches do that. One more thing, yes it's because of the military that we have more freedom than we otherwise would but I'm not criticizing you for *that*, it's when you do horrible things both on following orders and of your own accord that needs to be looked at more instead..

  • @ZakkLamm .. instead of ignoring this huge problem. And not only are YOU as a military guy culpable in this, but EVERYONE who says, "I don't care what they do because it's in my interests so I unconditionally support the military." Those kind of people are almost as bad as the ones that do the killing/torturing.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx geez, the username must have been hell starting out.

  • @eastcam514 lolwut?

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx you know, the all the capital/non capital V's are frankly befuddling to lesser mortals such as myself. cheers

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx I don't unconditionally support anything. What is it with you people and assumptions?

The funniest part is that you're proving my point. The only reason an idiot like you isn't dead is because a military is defending you.

  • @ZakkLamm oh, you don't do you? So tell me this then, plz- I'd love to hear- when YOU were in the military how many times did you refuse to obey an order? hmmmm? No, the only reason peace loving people like me might be dead is because evil idiot people like you CHOOSE TO JOIN THE MILITARY. Assholes like you provide job assurance for each other.. $ that could be otherwise spent on important things like feeding the starving or finding a cure for cancer. Next time you see one of those

  • @ZakkLamm .. those commercials with a children dying excruciating deaths of cancer, be proud of yourself.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx You're deceiving yourself about the very nature of the world. There will always be violence. Others stand ready to do it in your defense because you're too much of an insolent puss to do it yourself.

  • @ZakkLamm If there's violence in the world then how am I 'deciving myself' about the nature of the world when I talk about such violence. That made no sense at all. It would be like if I talked against racism and then you ignorantly and arrogantly went on me to say your decieving yourself about the world because racism exists. Duhhhhh, lol, i think you took a few too many bullets in the head you cold ass murdering fiend.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx Because if there's violence, it stands to reason that you must be ready to commit violence yourself in order to defend yourself. Of course, you can't, so you rely on a military. One you're happy to insult all day long. Wrangle out of that one.

  • @ZakkLamm It's simple, so simple that a child could see it. If it wasn't for the warriors of the world, there would be no war. In other words, if it weren't for militaries we wouldn't need militaries to defend ourselves against the militaries. Take this quote about religion.. ""Sin" is a concept that is sold to you by your religion. Would you buy a bandage from a person who comes up to you and cuts you in order to sell you a bandage? Religion tries to sell you a cure for a problem of..

  • @ZakkLamm ..problem of it's own making." Now, all we have to do is to change a few words to apply this realization to the military.. ""The military is a concept that is sold to you by your military. Would you buy a bandage from a person who comes up to you and cuts you in order to sell you a bandage? The military tries to sell you a cure for a problem of it's own making." In other words..

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx If you've nowhere else to buy a bandage, then your only alternative is to bleed to death.

  • @ZakkLamm . which misses the point ENTIRELY. Don't expect me to kiss your ass after you cut me, just because you offer me a bandage afterwards.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx See, the problem with your argument is that you just assume all military bodies are indistinguishable, and all accountable for atrocities. And yet, you have no proof or evidence. Nothing but butthurt bitching and trolling, really. It's kind of amusing to watch you grasp at straws, determined you can't POSSIBLY be wrong!

  • @ZakkLamm .. it's people like you, murderers and goons, that A R E the problem. Just think of how much better of a place the world would be if we didn't have to spend so many trillions of dollars every year on making killing machines and training and support of human killing machines. People might actually start working together to try to solve some of the problems that plauge humanity, or at least learn to settle their differences with words and negotiations instead of blowing each

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx By that, you mean stagnation.

Conflict is required for growth. It's been this way since the dawn of time. Duh.

  • @ZakkLamm If by 'conflict' you mean running around like animals blowing each others brains out out of hatred and greed, no that's not what's required for growth as a species.. such barbaric behavior is what holds us back. and for your information the universe is 14 billion years old, life on earth has been around for much less, and mankind with our petty wars has been around for much less than that so 'since the dawn of time' is a ridiculous phrase to use.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx Do you believe in evolution, my poor sap?

  • @ZakkLamm what the hell business is it of a silly putz like you what my views on evolution are? why do you ask me a lame question like that knuckle head?

  • @ZakkLamm Shame all those values go out the window when you're in Iraq, but that's ok because no-one sees it.

  • @FlyingEwok3967 Haaa. It's pretty illogical to blame it on the political system being corrupt when they get back, because the political system is was and always will be corrupt.. what were the soldiers doing on their assignment, taking political science courses? I think they already knew this. As far as the 'black and white' argument goes, you don't seem to understand my thinking at all. I think that the most evil person is capable of great good and vise versa, and whenever people do awful

  • Respond to this video... .. do awful things, there must be a reason.. BUT.. that does not mean that I ignore the awful things that YOU do. I speak out against them not because they hurt me directly, the exact opposite in fact.. because I benefit from them(financially) which gives me more of a moral obligation to do so.

  • @VvVvVvVvVvVvVx (Sigh). Seriously man? A Canadian complaining about the U.S.? What else is new? And I'l remind you how we burned down *your* capital as well. On the other hand, if the War of 1812 never happened, the U.S. would not have made a strong military in the first place, so the fact that we are in a position of military power as we are is, in effect, partly Canada's responsibility. And for that, I thank you. And curse you, at the same time. (Mostly thanks, though)

  • @FlyingEwok3967 I didn't see your response until just now..... If you had read the things I typed, you would realize that I'm critical of all militaries, not just usa(including canada- I won't even stand up during a hockey game, the national anthem makes me ashamed). As far as 1812 goes, you had some or your barbaric fun for a while sure, but the important thing is the RESULT, and the result is we kicked yer sorry asses out of there like a belligerent drunk getting tossed out on his ass LOLLLL

  • @FlyingEwok3967 .. and to blame canada because you guys INVADED us(and failed like total losers), for all the evil shit you guys have done in the world is quite possible the most laughable attempt at an argument I have ever heard. I don't even have words to describe how stupid that is- with an iq like that your only option in life might be to join the military :P

  • This is the real national anthem of United States of America! BRAVO!

  • @bigmanbow2010 no tha national anthem is the star spangeled baner.get ur facts strait.

  • @captiancapitalism wow im pretty sure he wasnt serious... lighten up

  • @bigmanbow2010 The Star-Spangled Banner was written after the Battle of Fort McHenry when the British Navy attempt to attack Boston during the War of 1812. Yes I'm am Proud to have this as our March, but I prefer the Star-Spangled Banner Over the Stars & Stripes Forever for the National Anthem.

  • @bigmanbow2010

Actually, it's the official MARCH not anthem.

  • GREAT ONE

  • @grizzlybad56 America or United States ????is not the same(Y)

  • Excellent!
