  • from where did you download your android ???

  • how much does this netbook cost? plesae anybody tell me and can we put win 7 in this ???

  • With this laptop would you be able to put video editing programs such as cyberlink power director? i am new to this product. is it similar to windows as in watching dvds on it? and does it have flash?

  • @Mytouchftw playing DVDs sure. Flash 10 support yes. Editing video yes I think will work, but will require new cloud based video editing systems. For example upload a copy of the original video and have web based App with local caching on the laptop let you do all the editing you want and render or encode the video using a grid of servers in the cloud and instantly publish the video.

  • Thank for the quick reply! Wow! This sounds great, when is there a release date? Is there a website you would recommend for more info on this laptop?

  • wen does this come outt?:D

  • I WANT ONE OF THESE!

  • This is sick, it looks like the android mobile os thats been tweaked for a notebook. This will save people money on purchasing and there will be way more community support than you get with most os's today. I want one

  • why would you need this???

  • $200, 15-hour battery life, connected standby (rings on received email, VOIP or IM)..

  • $200 as in USD? Is it already out in the market?

  • I would go for an slate android tablet powered by Nvidia tegra!

  • Can it be used as a phone with a bluetooth headset yet?

  • A customized Windows CE platform would be just as good if not better on hardware like this than Android. (for those that were asking for a MS os) At least it has professional level 3rd party office suites like Softmaker Office available. Android seems way too phone centric. As would Windows Mobile/Pocket PC. If MS really takes hardware like this seriously, they really need a new, less phone centric Windows CE platform/shell like the old Handheld PC 2000 but with WM/PPC compatability.

  • is there a version of this that runs a microsoft os?

  • Why would you?

  • Probably not. The Nvidia Tegra CPU is not x86 compatible.

  • Appreciate the video, but very nutty, stream of consciousness commentary. :)

  • It looks sweet, although I'm a bit wary of how it will "direct users to Google". I really don't want ads on OS. That would suck

  • Not sure I get the point of this (apart from sticking it to Microsoft and Intel). It's a laptop that can browse the web, run web apps, and run anroid apps. It doesn't do anything else.

I can do all that and more, much more, on my trusty Asus netbook (well apart from run Android apps).

Not particularly compelling outside of the rabid anti M$ and Intel crowd? Hardly commercial, or am I missing the point?.

Am I right? Just a little?

  • You can't buy an Asus netbook at $99 or $199 like you can buy this one. You can't run 8-10 hours on a 2-cell battery with your Asus netbook. You can nearly instantly bootup with your Asus.

  • Any idea when this smartbook will be available and for how much?

  • missing the point..yes

its not to replace your os...this wont do what windows will...

but alot of simple things (browsing, media, takings notes, email) can be done with it

the main point of this though is that android takes less power to run, so its lasts longer...and its super fast...it boots and shuts down in less than 10 sec...

  • it should be in some sort of a touch-screen tablet rather than a laptop, plus if they wish to put android on these netbooks then they should enhance the UI to fit the big screen

  • If it has word processing, internet and decent multimedia, I'm happy.

So, as soon as a decent word processor hits Android/Chrome, I'll be getting one.

  • you mean Google Docs?

  • Well preferably a stand-alone program, rather than a web service. I'd rather keep my documents ON the laptop.

  • thanks for this video !

Can you report on devices featuring both tegra with android please ? :>

I would love a mobile phone featuring : tegra android, 5inch amoled screen 640x360 with embedded (and hidden under the phone) video game controllers !

  • The Nvidia guys were not really ready to show Android on laptops yet. They still have some optimizations to do.

  • Thanks for your answer.

Do you mean nvidia put a NDA ?

Actually i am very interested by a mobile phone or smarbook running tegra/android

  • Me too, I think Nvidia is doing an awesome job. I still need to see smooth flash, full usable Android on it. There are many other companies working on this as well.

  • Awesome, good work guys!!!

just a little housecleaning with that one (and cupcakes). :]

  • Sorry, but it looks not good at all... I hoped for a bigger surprice than this from Google, but no :(

Hope Android will be better soon :)

  • Check out 2m 04 - blue cube == does not support Flash == MASSIVE FAIL.

    Go Tegra!

  • It's an early model. And Flash is coming to Android anyway,

  • wtf I care about the loading speed of the whole web!! let me see the os!!

  • nice phone

  • Very cool. If one Android netbook is on market, I will buy immediately.

  • i have the g1 phone and its just like this

  • !!! wow !!!
