triggers aren't bad in the studio they can help you finding the sound you want as they can record the hits as midi, unlike mic's where you'd need to transpose the soundwaves, and live they can make the sound engineers job much easier, also you can balance out each hit so they come at the same velocity, say the left foot is weaker when doubling you can boost it so every hit is at the same volume :)

So if a drummer is cheating using trigger to make what he play understood by everyone, so the guitarists or the bassists are cheating too, because they use an amplifier.

Using a trigger doesn't make you play faster... It's there so that the other parts in the song don't get drown out by the bass.... Why do all people assume that if you a trigger it makes you play faster? It just electronically renders the sound for you....
@HE11FIRE100 you're almost correct. triggers don't prevent the bass drowning out the other parts. they're used to make the bass drum parts sound even and clear. it's extremely difficult to the point where it's almost impossible to play a bass drum that fast and make all of the notes sound the same. but i still agree with you. people who say that using triggers is cheating really need to shut up :P
@HE11FIRE100 thats not entirly true but partly triggers are used 1 becuase they just want there bass to sound different ie like a sound a bass drum cant even make like born of osiriss uses like a clicking noise. but they dont make you PLAY faster but in studio you can add or remove bass sounds. so if i did r-l-r-l-r-l on my bass but i wanted or didnt want a certin r or l i could take away or punch one in, were if you just mic it you cant do that. but live triggers are just for a different sound
@HE11FIRE100 I would say it makes you faster...because you don't need to play with the Loudness (Loudness fucks your muscles) to come through the wall of guitars ...but you still need the technique for being that fast.. :D i find it more sad that todays drum recordings are quantitized to the maximum (i think you can even see it in this video!) and each hit is compressed to the same volume level..on the other hand...i don't want to hear it without that "tricks"

@rondepok People, people, people. Triggers do NOT do anything to help boost a drummers speed. All they do is sound replace. Stick a trigger on a drum, plug the trigger into an electric drum monitor or "brain", and you use the sound from the monitor or "brain" instead of the acoustic drum sound. Triggers are mainly used to get a clearer sound from the bass drum so the bass drum doesn't sound like a wall of noise, you can actually hear each individual hit or stroke.
Not trying to cause any shit but, this drummer isn't really impressive at all, all he does is blast beats (which all sound the same) ahem, but that's just my opinion. Good day (:

@rondepok People, people, people. Triggers do NOT do anything to help boost a drummers speed. All they do is sound replace. Stick a trigger on a drum, plug the trigger into an electric drum monitor or "brain", and you use the sound from the monitor or "brain" instead of the acoustic drum sound. Triggers are mainly used to get a clearer sound from the bass drum so the bass drum doesn't sound like a wall of noise, you can actually hear each individual hit or stroke.
