  • the music itself is outstanding..not to mention the acting and the filming techniques if Joe Wright!

best movie ever in my opinion

  • Awesome

  • you can practice the type writer sound on your laptop space bar key :D:D:D thats what i did

anyway am gonna watch this movie again today! and i'll try not to cry, which is really difficult after watching this film, espacially if you love someone too!

    a true oscar winning effort!

  • DARIO MARIANELLI IS THE BEST COMPOSER IN THE WHOLE WORLD (in my opinion hihihi)

He composes with so much heart, I mean you feel the love he puts in his music when you listen to his soundtracks (Pride and prejudice, and Jane Eyre are also the best!!!). I also ADORE Joe Hisaishi, John Williams, Craig Armstrong, Clint Mansell and Trevor Morris. The best composers in the worldddddd ^_^

  • they should make "Dark Angel" by Sally Beauman into a movie i think, that is of course if she accepts to sell the rights of her book...Sally Beauman weaves such a clever twisted tale that when you come to the solution of the 'murder' the hair stands on the back of your arms...the tale is full of intrigue, love, opulence, drama, and the mystery of one woman's soul...

  • so clever, I tell you!

  • i love the way the typewriter is involved with the orchestra in this song. it is so symbolic

  • atonement, a.k.a Briony Sees a Variety of Unspeakable Acts.

  • My favourite piece of music out of the soundtrack. It just has this sort of bittersweet feeling about it that makes it just so relevant to the film.

  • I haven't seen this film, but I like sailing to foreign lands with my ship and crew, while listening to this song.

  • i meet the guy that composed this :)

  • I hated briony throughout the entire movie and book. but in the ending twist i felt like strangling her to death.

  • @kaiserbunny132 In a way, I think she suffered the most, because she knew she was to blame, she was a villain, bit not on purpose. It was her tragedy as well as there's.

  • I love thiss

  • I typed the final draft for my college application essay to this on loop. Hope I make it!

  • @VELOC1RAPT0R

    omg same :P haha

  • i learn with this film that there is anything worst in this world that not being able to apologize.

  • Typing machines should be considered as musical instruments from now on...

  • @Winduct Hahaha!, lol, that was hilarious..xD

  • @Winduct Well, you might like these --

/watch?v=g2LJ1i7222c -- 'The Typewriter' by Leroy Anderson

    /watch?v=ORu1peCxhvs -- without the typewriter

or maybe "The Girl at the Typewriter" by Raymond Scott (typewriter part is implied)

  • @borbetomagus I've listened to the first. Thank you very much for the second one ;)

  • I love the part at 1:40 to end. :P

  • @WizenBirch Are you kidding? Thats the best part of the ST!! lool

  • Whenever i hear this i think of the film, the heat, the lies, sickening guilt, love, death, hate.

    Pure Genius.

  • chilling....

  • @berker1711 lolol

  • @berker1711 Well it won best score in the Oscars... so obviously it was a good idea.

  • @brooksboy78 yeah, for award maybe, but there is no need to mention what deserves and what not deserves an oscar, since there is so many undeserved winners.

  • @berker1711 Um u said it was stupid, and it obviously wasnt. Winning an oscar isnt easy.

  • @berker1711 Actually, the typewriter thing is actually awesome. There are a couple of people who use typewriters to do some composing. Yann Tiersen, for one. This music is supposed to convey some kind of tension, which you obviously missed. Leroy Anderson's 'The Typewriter' uses a typewriter. Keep an open mind when you listen to music. (But you're free to hate on Sleigh Bells [the band], god how I hate them.)

  • I HATE BRIONY SO FUCKING MUCH!

  • best movie ever!!! love this sound track!!!

  • the best love story ever

  • me encanta esta pelicula, sobre todo su final, no como una tipica pelicula romantica.

  • the movie is amazing, words cant explain. The concept, the music, the characters. All amazing... This song is also so mezmorising

  • such a good song, just a shame they didn't make a version with out the type writer in, i think it ruins it.

  • @joshcboy the typewriter is the point.

  • perfection...

  • this is one of my favorite movies

    it has great songs...

  • I can play this on the typewriter, but not the piano unfortunately

  • @marthwmaster You should post it as a reply to video :)

  • i looooooove this song but i hate Briony for what she did...poor Cecelia and Robbie!!!!

  • I Had to Analysis This Song For My 2010 Music 1 HSC Exam

  • @xXJarvarXx ahahah as did i.. amazing piece of music hey!

  • @MissyLyssie Bahaha Yeh it is, i knew it was a type writer but wasnt sure if i should mention it lol

  • @xXJarvarXx ahahaha yeah, it was the "instrument" which played a Rhythmic Role within the piece =) l0l

  • this song really sums up the whole mood of the film. wonderful! <3 <3 <3

  • This is really a brilliant piece of music and an incredible film to go with it!

  • my marching band is using this song for the beginning of our closer!!

  • @THxMCRxLOVER really?! you should record in at a competition and upload it on youtube!

  • one of the best openings to a soundtrack I've ever heard :)

  • this is one of the movies in which the background score is better than the movie itself, not that I feel the movie is bad. Pity other actors who were overshadowed by the little girl who played Briony. she deserved that Oscar nomination.

  • i love how they infuse the typewriter with the melody...

  • Nothing hurts more than words...not even the most powerful weapon!

  • How do I find mp3iffy to download this song? I was told to google mp3iffy.

  • @AbelWalker1 Youtube downloader would be a better program I think..

  • @AilzBabes nothing hurts more than words...not even the most powerful weapons

  • @AbelWalker1 I like Real Player best, even better than Youtube downloader.

  • this is pretty brilliant. love the typewriter in there

  • does anyone know if thats a common tone modulation at 0:38 or is it direct?

  • @jamasian127

well, i think it's no modulation at all, there's no actual dominant (except the repeated note C). The first part is b flat minor, then there is something like a rueckung to f minor. The change is possible because of the g in the strings, it's no part of b flat minor but of f minor...

Short answer: A modulation - if it is one - one fifth upwards is not uncommon

  • this is my name,,, lol i youtubed myself and this came up...

  • Esta canción es tan sugerente a lo que pasa por la mente de la niña...es preciosa

  • love this song !!!!

  • Thank You :)

  • BELLISSIMA CANZONE

  • Okay thanks. it's the paper ripping from the typewriter. i forgot about that lol. they have it in other songs too i think.

  • ... hold on a sec, what is that farting sound at 1:40?! i know this soundtrack pretty well and have never heard that before...

  • Hahahaha, that part always gets me..

  • that's the sound of the paper being pulled out of the typewriter (i.e. when you are done typing)

  • That is not farting, I think she tears the paper.

  • This songs so cool and this movie and book made me cry

  • If you like this song, listen to "With My Own Eyes" it's a similar but longer version.

  • One of the most perfect films I've ever seen.

  • Well said.

  • @popaddict SO SURPRISED IT DIDNT WIN BEST PICTURE! OR EITHER ONE OF THEM RECIEVED A NOMINATION FOR BEST ACTOR OR BEST ACTRESS!

  • sooo good!

  • kinda creepy...I love it :D

  • this musica is more then perfect ...

  • love this film, love the soundtrack even more, and adore the book.

can someone tell me what is the name of the song that plays during the end credits though? I'd appreciate it.

  • Cottage by the beach

    =]

  • i cried when i watched the film :(

  • @neveella

  • they were talking about the piece of music

    idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • maybe she was talking about the song, not the person.....im not saying briony was the best charactor, but she was young and she didnt understand what she was doing

  • she was like 13 and i understood what the HELL she was doing when I was 10.

    xx

  • Yeah, but that was back in the 1940s, so things were really different then. My friends grandmother, when she was pregnant, asked the doctor how the baby was going to come out! And that was abck in the 50s, ther was no such thing as sex ed then.

  • i think she's talking about the song.

  • Fantastic Film!

The music adds such a dramatic feel. Adds the finishing touch

  • BRIONYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

    LUV YOU
